How to Decorate a Christmas Tree was a book that touched my heart as I read it.
It is a story of a little girl telling how she decorates their Christmas tree. These are the things that are important to her as the tree is decorated by her and her family.
As I read this book each thing was almost the exact way, we decorate our own tree. The heart-touching part for me was what each ornament meant to the family. Every ornament told a story and held a memory for them.
The illustrations were amazing.
Thank you NetGalley, Vikki VanSickle and Penguin Random House Canada for the ARC of How to Decorate a Christmas Tree. This is my personal review.

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree
4.5 Stars

This charming book follows a young girl and her family as they decorate their Christmas tree. Each page shows different family traditions they do together. They reminisce about the special ornaments and memories while decorating their tree. This book would be perfect to read right before decorating your own Christmas tree. This would encourage your children to ask questions about their own family traditions.

My absolute favorite thing about this book is the 3D illustrations. I love the unique cut-outs. They're so detailed, and all those beautiful textures. These special touches make this book standout.

Thank you, NetGalley and Penguin Random House Canada, for an advanced reader copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

My eight year old son read this with me and he gave it 5 out of 5 stars! First, the illustrations were unique and wonderful. We both felt that the cut out like pictures added a fun quality to the book. He really enjoyed the pictures involving the cat and his minor shenanigans. We both enjoyed taking our time and looking at the ornaments and he really liked that they got their own page. It was like walking down memory lol lane; “mom remember my first ornament?!” The “surprise” in the end with the baby was cute and tied it all together in the end. We both agreed that the words were hard to see on some pages. I would rate this as more of a 4 star book. When I asked my son if he would want to purchase this book, he said no. I asked him if he was in kindergarten or first grade would he buy it, he said yes. He is in third grade for reference.

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree is a children’s book written by Vikki VanSickle and illustrated by Miki Sato.

This delightful book follows a girl and her family as they decorate their Christmas tree.

Each page shows a different step as the girl reminisces about special ornaments and memories.

In the end, the tree is decorated, and all that is left is for the family to enjoy their hard work.

My Thoughts: I enjoyed this book and think it would be the perfect read aloud to small children right before decorating their own Christmas trees.

The pictures are really wonderful as well. I love the collage-style art and beautiful color palette.

This is a great little book and would make an excellent addition to any Christmas book collection!

I would like to thank Penguin Random House Canada for providing me with a free digital copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Pick out the tree, clean up the house, bring out the decorations: it's time to decorate a Christmas tree. This family has a lot of ornaments, each of which has its own special memories, which is just right because the holidays are a time to be together, whether this is your last Christmas or your first.

While the plot doesn't really capture my interest, I admit to enjoying the little twist at the end. The artwork in this book is really magnificent, and this is a fun book to read with family during the holiday season.

This was such a cute book! I loved how she showed all of her favorite, special ornaments. At first you think she’s just sharing them with you, and then you realize this is a “how to guide” for her baby brother! The kind of 3D illustrating is really cool as well. This has been added to my kiddo’s wishlist!

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree is the perfect POV title for the next holiday season. This book is straight from a child’s perspective as she discusses her family’s traditions in decorating their tree and getting into the Christmas spirit. I absolutely loved reading this title and the artwork is beautiful.

A cute story about the process of decorating a Christmas Tree. I enjoyed how it showed that its more than putting ornaments on a tree. That some ornaments are special and have special meaning. Bringing memories when you unpack them. Or that some elements of decorating the tree is a time for the family to get together and spend time together. A fun tradition that kids will remember.

My only criticism was in the beginning the book is that it starts off purposefully calling out that you have to wait for a snowy night. I understand that snow is associated with Christmas, however many places don't get any snow during Christmas. I am not sure really this detail was needed.

The illustrations are pretty cool. They are very unique where you can tell that these are cut outs and real objects arranged in a way that when a picture is taken it looks like an illustration. I think this was really creative and a cool detail of this book.

How to Decorate a Christmas Tree was a sweet story about a family decorating their Christmas tree and reminiscing about the stories behind each ornament. This sweet book tugged at my heart strings as this is my favorite thing about Christmas; the story behind ever ornaments.
