This book was suffered the middle book syndrome and sadly could not compete with its predecessors. It was subjected to info dumping and long chapters with slow pacing but halfway through the book the story picked up along with its pace and from there onwards we got to see the characters and the plot move forward which I liked alot.

Justice at Sea continues the old world/new world steampunk feel of Shadows Over London with lots of adventuring on the high seas, fae negotiations, and a hint of romance. Justice is again trying to reunite her siblings to the same side of the cause, with mixed results, but also leading her father's ship and crew in her attempts to cripple the fae attempts to control London and surrounding areas. Fantastic world building with a cliffhanger ending. I cannot wait for the sequel!

The audio narration is fantastic!

I love the world-building in this book. And the characters. And the ocean setting. And the ships. And the way Klaver weaves different points of view together into a single, incredible story. Way worth the read. If you haven't read the first one, go grab that one, too!

Justice at Sea by Christian Klaver was a good second book in the series. it could have been read as a standalone book, though you would definitely benefit from having read the first book. As second books in a trilogy go, this was a decent read with plenty of action and character development, but you know, there's always that cliffhanger at the end to make you want to read the third book! Nothing ever feels complete, but I was eager to hear the next chapter in the story, so happy that I read it.

The characters get fleshed out a little bit more, additional characters are brought into the story, but I don't think it's too overwhelming, though perhaps a tad bit unnecessary? Unsure, but ask me in another week or so after I continue to digest this book. Love and family is at the core of everything, but not in a maudlin sort of way, which I appreciate. For those fantasy loving individuals out there who like a strong female protagonist, I'd highly recommend this series.

The audio narration was pretty good for a wide range of characters, genders and ages. Sometimes some of the "teenage" females started to blend into each other a bit to my ear, but otherwise, nothing else detracted from my listening enjoyment.

This is a fantasy story of a battle between Fairie and Humans. A rip roaring tale of adventure at sea and on land, witty bickering between siblings and half siblings. I haven’t read the first book but the narrative here had me engaged from the first few words. I thought the narrator in this audio version, Fiona Hardingham, was brilliant at bringing text and character to life. This is a fantasy book for all listeners from 7/8 years old and up. Thank you to CamCat Books and NetGalleyfor the audio ARC. The views expressed are all mine freely given.

Fantastic world-building and compelling adventures, I enjoyed Justice at Sea before I even realized it was the second in a series. I felt like Klaver wrote in such a way that I was able to understand without needing to go back, but I enjoyed the story enough that I'm considering it anyway.
