With the short chapters, multiple POV’s, and alternating timeline, this had me hooked! I loved the twisty turn of events that offered little jolts of surprises, but nothing too outlandish or ridiculous. I appreciated the happy surprises too! Definitely a fun read!

Reading Between the Wines book review #74/115 for 2023:
Rating: 4🍷🍷🍷🍷
Book: The Slumber Party
Author: Shannon Hollinger
Available now!

Sipping thoughts: Told in dual timelines, this book will make you never want to sleep away from home again. A group of friends that are the epitome of ride or die. The cutthroat, lies and dependency this crew exhibits helps you see what's coming. Although a big twist was so obvious to me there were so many thrills and unknowns lurking behind every corner. I really enjoyed this book and how it was written.

Cheers and thank you to @NetGalley and @Bookouture for an advanced copy of @TheSlumberParty.

This book gave me "Now and Then" vibes with the 4 different friendships throughout childhood. The chapters alternated between characters and also between "now" and "then". There were so many secrets and the twists just kept on coming. I really enjoyed the different dynamics of each "friendship" and the ending tied it all together. You never know what repercussions you're actions will have until it's too late.

Thank you to NetGalley, Shannon Hollinger and publishers for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If I was going to write a book/story/script THIS is exactly how I would do it! It's Pretty Little Liars meets Yellowjackets (minus the horror aspect). Flashing back and forth from the 90s to the present (2014) you get four childhood best friends estranged as adults, murder, family secrets, blackmail, and kidnapping all packed into this book, twist after twist! This book was predictable but in the best way! The characters were a bit underdeveloped but if you're here for a tense mystery rather than a character study, you're in the right place! This is a book that will keep you up late into the night #justonemorechapter. 4.5 stars. CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-ARC!

⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Slumber Party by Shannon Hollinger is a heart-stopping thriller that revolves around four childhood friends who gather for a slumber party, only for their lives to be shattered when one of them dies and another becomes a killer. Years later, Liz, one of the survivors, receives a note that brings back the haunting memories of that fateful night. As she tries to unravel the truth behind the note and its sender, Liz realizes that there are dark secrets from their past that are about to resurface.

I just finished The Slumber Party by Shannon Hollinger and let me tell you, it was a total rollercoaster ride! First of all, can we talk about that awesome cover? It immediately caught my attention. But let’s get into the nitty-gritty.

The writing in this book is seriously top-notch. It keeps you hooked from the start with its fast pace and non-stop action. And oh boy, the plot? It’s absolutely bonkers with twists and turns that will leave you gasping for air.

The characters are so well-developed and there are plenty of them to keep you on your toes. You really get invested in their lives and secrets. I couldn’t get enough of them!

Honestly, I was completely absorbed in this story. I couldn’t put it down because I just had to know what would happen next. If you’re into gripping thrillers with messed-up friendships, dark pasts, and secrets that’ll blow your mind, then The Slumber Party is a must-read.

Trust me, you won’t be disappointed!

I love a story about friendships turned toxic and this one did not disappoint. There was loads of twists and turns along the way and although they were a little predictable for me the book still held up and was still entertaining. It’s told in multiple pov and I did have to check a few times to check which character I was reading about and one character in particular did seem to waffle on a bit in places.
Overall a good read with short chapters albeit with some annoying characters.

Thanks to NetGalley for the Arc in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley, Bookouture and Shannon Hollinger for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
When we talk about childhood friendships and BFFs, usually there is this warm, fuzzy and comfortable feeling, but with this book _ The Slumber Party, you are surely bound to question to what extent do we know our friends and how much of ourselves do we showcase to them?
Liz, Amy, Sami and Mo are childhood friends who have grown up with each other, knowing each other intricately and being throughout for each other. On the eve of their prom, at the slumber party, one of them dies and one of them is the killer. Cut to the present, Liz is a housewife and loving mother to Olive. She tries hard not to think about the night that destroyed her & her friends. But one day she receives a note, "I'm back. Did you miss me?" and her world starts to spin right away.
This book is told from multiple POV's, alternating between their childhood and the present life which is a thrilling roller coaster ride. As the book starts, you learn about their childhood - each of them with distinct personalities and backgrounds yet bonded by friendship and sisterhood. The author takes us slowly to the incident, alternating the setting with present - Liz meeting Sami and so on. Gradually, the cards are revealed, plot twists keep coming in and as a reader you are in for multiple surprises.

The writing is lucid, casual and grips you from the beginning. With a lot of ups and downs, twists and jaw-dropping scenarios, this book from Shannon Holinger is bound to keep you on edge. I nearly thought that I knew how it was going to end, but again the twist at the end was so unpredictable, yet very satisfying. So if you are like me and opt to read a book at one-go, then 'THE SLUMBER PARTY' definitely should be on your TBR list.
Overall, this book gets a 4.5/5  from me. Absolutely enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed this story. The characters were likeable & the story line kept me intrigued all the way through as I wanted to find out what was going to happen!!!

I liked this book but I couldnt say I loved it. The reason for this , I felt it became a little repetitive. There was way too many POV's and hard to keep track of everyone. I found it to be predictable and that affected my rating.

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book was just okay for me. I found myself pushing through just to be done and the short chapters helped. I felt like the going back and forth in time with the 4 main characters was a little confusing also.

Captivating and unpredictable to the core. This is a book that pulled me in and was completely impossible to put down.

This is addictive with many twists and turns in the pages. I was completely pulled in and unwilling to put this down.

The characters in this are each flawed, but relatable in their own ways. I have loved how this has played out and found the flaws added to the unpredictability of this book.

I love the short snappy chapters, I found my attention hooked and unwilling to put this down. The pace of this is perfect and kept me guessing throughout.

This is an author who has transported me and made me feel as though I have been watching this play out. This is a brilliant read from beginning to end. I have loved it.

This was my second Shannon Hollinger novel following on from the tremendous début, Best Friends Forever. This one, The Slumber Party is a fantastic tale about toxic friendships. Jammed with secrets, the novel's snappy chapters and rapid pace kept me turning the pages. Gripping and compelling with plenty of twists. I hope to read more from the pen of Shannon Hollinger going forward.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Bookouture via NetGalley and this review is my unbiased opinion.

Loved all the twists in this book! This is about 4 BFFs who have a slumber party. Only 3 remain by the end of the night 10 years later, they meet again. This is told in multiple POVs. Well written book! Thank you to net galley and the publisher for an ARC of this book

This was a twist filled book full of secrets and toxic friendships. What happened all those nights ago has shaped lives and changed personalities. I did not see many of the twists or reveals coming. There are quite a few shocks along the way and Hollinger kept me on my toes the entire time.

This book is what I would call an awesome and thrilling book. The characters are realistic and relatable. It's definitely a page turner. I couldn't put it down. I really loved the twisted plot.

This was my first novel my this author and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I found it to be a very quick and easy read, which I absolutely love. It was fast-paced. I really enjoyed how it went back and forth between the past and the present but I never felt lost. I also thoroughly enjoyed how it was from different perspectives.

Four girls who are best friends are dealing with the trials and tribulations of high school - boys, friends, the future, family drama, etc. In the past they were absolutely inseparable but today? Today they don't speak much with exception of the odd postcard from one of the friends. All of that changes when one of the girls comes back home and decides to sell the family estate. The new family is doing some maintenance when bones are discovered just inside the forest at the back of the property. What secrets were the girls keeping that have now been dug up? They were all hoping to take these secrets to the grave.

I knew this was going to be a good read when one of the friends calls another one, who she hasn't spoken to in almost 15 years, and the only thing she says is "she's back". Talk about a juicy, edge of your seat read. I thought I had it figured out a few times but I was wrong...so, so wrong...

Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture, and Shannon Hollinger for a copy of this ARC.

This story follows the lives of 4 women. I enjoyed how it told their story as adults but also switched to when they were kids and explained the events that lead up to what happened.

The story held my interest throughout the book. There were a few twists I didn’t see coming. I definitely didn’t see what happened to one of the girls coming.

All in all, I enjoyed the book. 4/5 stars.

Just enough to keep me interested to learn he truth, but a little too much for me.

I didn’t care for Liz at all, which makes it really hard to enjoy a story. However I tried and pulled it out to find out the ending. Twisty enough without being too out there. I enjoyed the writing style.
