The Slumber Party by Shannon Hollinger was a thrilling ride! I kept going back and forth, thinking I had guessed what was going on. I did guess right, eventually, but it was a good read!

4.5 stars ⭐️. OMG I was completely drawn into this story and read it one day because I couldn’t put it down!
Four teens, friends since childhood, are there for each other through thick and thin. Until one horrifying event changes everything. Fourteen years later, 3 of them are still living their lives, albeit separately, while one is nothing but bones.
This dual timeline thriller keeps you invested with each chapter advancing the plot and the suspense. I highly recommend this book and thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this eArc in exchange for my honest opinion. Watch for this absorbing thriller being published 23 March 2023.

This is my second novel by Shannon Hollinger and it did not disappoint. She is easily becoming one of my favorite quick read authors, and I find myself excited to pick up another ARC/novel by her.

Thank god we all grow up and move past hs at some point, because this novel had me having flashbacks like CRAZY. I really enjoyed the earlier parts of the novel. Amy, Liz, Mo, and Sami's relationship reminded me so much of my friendship with my two best friends - without the murder detail.

I usually shy away from novels with different timelines, multiple narrators, but The Slumber Party was easy to follow, and had me engaged the entire time. It helped me build a relationship with each character, and understand their relationships with each other/their family dynamics. What really makes a hs teenager tick... What builds them up, what knocks them down to the point of no recovery.

The only negative I had was the hint dropping... it made the plot twists a little too foreseeable. I figured out the biggest plot twist half way through the book. Nevertheless, when it happened I was still shocked (idk why haha).

Overall an amazing read as always.

Amy, Liz, Mo, and Sami are the It Girls in school. They're inseparable, but each of them have a secret. When their secrets come out, will they kill to keep it buried?

Thank you Shannon Hollinger, Bookouture, & NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I received an ARC of this book from Bookouture via NetGalley in exchange for my honest feedback. I loved this book - I think Shannon Hollinger has just become one of my must-read authors. I have always tended to enjoy books about friend groups now & then, so this was right up my alley. The multiple points of view and timelines flowed perfectly. The characters were incredibly real and relatable (hello, high school drama & mean girls!) Although some of the plot points were easy to figure out, this was so twisty that it was still surprising. And there were some parts that I didn't see coming at all. I flew through this and didn't want to put it down.

Book review time. I've just finished this ARC from @thiswritersays @bookouture

This is the first book I've read from this author but without a doubt It will not be the last.

This book had a writing style that kept me engaged with multiple points of view and different timelines that kept me invested both in the present and the past.

While there were on occasion some twists that I guessed a little before they were revealed, however some of the main ones left me absolutely shook.

Overall this was an fabulous read which makes you wonder, can you ever really trust your friends. This book is out March 22nd and is most definitely worth looking for.

Thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for my e-copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

I really enjoyed this book. It took me a bit to sit down and read it because I assumed it was going to be a high school drama of sorts but I was completely wrong. This book was twisty and sinister in all the right places but without all the sex and gore of other authors. This story is about 4 best friends from childhood who have a horrible thing happen on prom night. It switches back and forth between timelines and the character perspectives but it really is done well. I would recommend this book if you like light mysteries, ones that keep you guessing but aren't gruesome. Honestly this one kept twisting like a leaf on a branch, even when it was down to the end another bomb was dropped. Great Read.

Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. "The Slumber Party" was a fun read about a group of four friends that focuses on snippets of their childhood, high school, and their senior year. At the beginning of the book, some contractors in the present time find a body at the main property the girls spent time at growing up. The story then flashes between the past and the present as the mystery of the body unfolds. The book isn't so much about one particular slumber party, but the friendship and the secrets the girls hid from each other both then and now.

I enjoyed the author's writing style and the relationship between the girls. I struggled to get into the book though because the author would drop hints, but it took too long to find out what all the clues were alluding to. I needed more information threaded in to keep me intrigued. There were too many holes from the hints as I was reading to get a grasp on what was happening until much later in the story. I found myself losing interest.

There were some good twists as the book progressed. It was an interesting concept. This is worth the read.

Shannon Hollinger has done it again! This was a fast paced thriller that kept me guessing until the end. As for the ending, that was a twist I didn’t see coming.

I enjoyed reading this thriller about friendship and secrets and I really liked the dual timelines.

Thank you to Netgallery, Bookature and Shannon Hollinger for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

High school can be a lot of fun. Not the lessons, exams or the work you have to do, but hanging out with the friends you have made or with those you already knew.

A small group of besties there to have your back no matter what is the best thing that could happen to you. So it's only natural you cherish this precious gift.

Even the best of friends fall out from time to time, but they always make up again.

You might have known someone for years and have spent a lot of time together, in the end it seems like you never know someone through and through. When secrets are revealed the truth is more than ugly and sometimes enough is enough. Time to act has come and it's either them or you. The choice is easy to make...
That one night something happens take turns your world upside down. The group make a decision. It's one that will change their future. It's the only way to make it work untl it isn't anymore...

This is a story about how people are often masters in hiding who they really are and what they are capable of, about deceiving others ot get what you want, about a bond that is so strong you could never have imagined it could be broken and about people who are driven to act out of order.

And then there was me: thinking I knew tit all, but it seemed like I knew nothing at all :)

A great book that made my heart bleed and with an ending that made me go 'huh??' and thus messing with my head again. 4,5 stars

Thank you

Okay so really glad that have moved on from school, these women wow and I could have shaken Liz so many times as for Francine ugh..... Well a good author makes you get engaged with the story which is what you want. So this was the answer to this, a good afternoon read - guessed all the twists I felt they were telegraphed in advance. But still enjoyable and a pleasant way to spend my time.

I was given an advance copy by netgalley and the publishers but the review is entirely my own.

The Slumber Party started out slow and confusing, constant jumps between characters and years and I was having trouble keeping track of who is who. As the story unravels though and I became more invested I could see who was who and what was happening.

There was a definite unexpected turn of events then things got interesting until it reached the climax at the end of the book.

Thank you to Bookouture for the ARC.

Wow what can I say this book was amazing, it was a fast paced and kept me guessing throughout a perfect book for psychological thrillers fans alike! The ending wow I did not see it coming!

3 solid stars for being so unpredictable!

Synopsis
Liz, Amy, Mo, and Sami had that kind of friendships every girl would envy during their high schools. Their bond ran closer than your usual friendship, but who would have known that their bond would be the one to unravel them years later when one secret threatened to go out, followed by more secrets?

What I like
It was totally unputdownable! I spent the last day binging the remaining 40% because I just need to know what happened. I like how it didn't act too forward on the mystery, but feeding us little by little. Even when we might know what happened to the girls, there were still unclear things, so, kudos to the writer and editor!

What I don't like
Despite the way the POVs worked just the same to me, I still like it.

Final thought
I'm now curious about Hollinger's other books. Definitely a must read author in this genre!

This is the second book by Shannon Hollinger .

Liz, Sami, Mo and Amy were childhood friends but a tragedy strikes on the night of the prom, causing the friends to be stranded from each other. Now present day, Liz gets a message from someone claiming to be her friend--only problem was, that friend had died at that prom night nearly twenty years ago. Is the friend still alive or is someone playing a sick game?

I did enjoy reading this thriller and I really liked the dual timelines, as we get to know what happened the night of the prom. The first part wasn't interesting but from the middle part to the end, it was interesting and fast paced. Though there were some twists and turns and the story was fast paced, in my mind, it was predictable as I kind of did predict what was going to happen next. Overall, this is a good thriller with some twists and turns and that will keep you hooked up. Worth four stars!

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion only.

Fast paced book about friendship and secrets! Could not put down! Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for giving me a chance to read this ARC.

Suspenseful, twisty and well plotted this story kept me on the edge of my seat.

Four friends all with secrets are brought back into each others lives when Mo, there childhood friend who has been away is suddenly back. From here it gets good! It's the story of a mother protecting her daughter, innocence lost and the ties of friendship that bind.

Love the multiple POV that this story is told from and many of the twists kept me guessing, although some I did pick up on. Overall a great read and don't even get me started on that ending...

Very strong beginning and I loved how the characters are slowly developed with the flashbacks. I really appreciate the depth of it and gaining the understanding of how some events can shape your future especially in a young age. The ending was not as strong and the mystery reveal was a bit head scratching but I still liked the book quite a bit.

liz, mo, amy, and sami were solid best friends ever since they were kids, and they always had each other's back no matter what. but not until their prom night, when one of them died, and one of them is the killer. a few years later, liz starts receiving letters from her friend who died that tragic night. but how could she write letters when she's already dead?

this book has a lot of plot twists, and as a mystery/suspense reader, it became easy for me to quickly figure them out, except for that one twist that threw me off balance! the plot is wild and filled with mystery, with best friends sharing lots of secrets from the past. the chapters are short, and it has multiple povs that switch from past to present. it's a good read and i enjoyed going with their flow. if you like a fast-paced and gripping read, you should definitely read this book!

thank you @netgalley and @bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

i give: 3.5/5 ✨

This book was really good! Takes you back to high school remembering having friends you thought were extensions of family and you’d all do anything for each other ! So much happened to those girls at such a young age. I seriously can’t believe what Sonny did. 😳. I am really at a loss for what Amy and Sami did. I wish Mo had gotten the help she desperately needed. It’s unfortunate what happened to her. Liz and her family seem like they are doing well in the end though.
