daphne one of the land girls witnesses the plane crash and also the upended car in the ditch and goes to help the occupants...its while she is pulling one of the men out that she recognises him as her ex fiancee... she runs off before he can thank her for the help

This story was both interesting and enjoyable! It had me hooked from the first page, transporting me back to the days of the Second World War. The rural setting gave a different perspective, with Goodwill House hosting a variety of different characters and events. As the title suggests, the story is about relationships, and covers topics such as identity, family, courage and bravery. There is also the question of romance infiltrating throughout the story.
The layering of the various themes and sub-plots bring unexpected events that add to the tension. As the different strands are drawn together the story reaches a satisfactory, but open conclusion, leaving the reader wondering what happened next, and looking forward to a follow-up book!
The novel will appeal to readers who enjoy looking back to the war days, and also how women, in particular, coped in that situation both practically and emotionally. I have enjoyed reviewing this book for NetGalley!

Thank you to all involved in my chance to read this ARC in return for my honest opinion.

I have read all the previous books in the series and when I saw this instalment was available crossed everything that I would be approved to read and review it. It’s a bit frustrating when one had read a series and either approval is not forthcoming or the next book isn’t on NetGalley. I understand that’s part of the process though.

Now to this book - it was great to revisit old characters and learn more about their lives and life during WW2
The book was well written as always and tells of the horrors of war and the inherent dangers of war conducted in the air both to people and Goodwill House.
The writing style is very descriptive and it’s possible to imagine oneself actually ‘there’.

My only complaint if this is one was that I found the ending incredibly rushed and very abrupt. I turned the page expecting another chapter and there was none. Presumably this means another instalment later but surely there will be an end at some stage as the books do move slowly through the war.

Thank you again - will look out for more adventures from Goodwill House

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.

I have read all previous books in this series and I loved meeting up with the characters and finding out what’s happening in their lives.

It was interesting to see the story didn’t focus on one character but every character’s progress was shown.

Looking forward to reading what happens next in this series.

I recommend this book.

Back at Goodwill House. The 3 land girls are still in residence along with others, but the story centers around the first 3, the friendship continues and although they come from different backgrounds and have problems to solve they are there for each other.

Joanna, her mother in law and her 2 adopted children continue to bond with everyone. Joanna has a letter from a solicitor saying that another cousin of her late husband is claiming the title. So plenty of problems to sort out. Joanna's daughter is still studying in London and she flits into the story.

Manston the RAF air base is still close by but non operational as regards flying. The only 'kites' as they are referred to come in for repairs.

I am look forward to the next book in this brilliant series which is due later this year. I can recommend this book and give it 5*

A Wartime Reunion At Goodwill House by Fenella J Miller is the fifth book in a marvelous wartime series.
This book can be read as a stand-alone but I enjoyed meeting up with many familiar faces as we rejoin the action in 1940. We see the stoicism of the characters as the war comes a little too close to Goodwill House.
Dog fights overhead interrupt the lives of those on the ground. It takes much courage to continue with day-to-day lives whilst being ever vigilant for the enemy.
A chance encounter sets hearts a racing as there is a search for the truth of their roots.
Once more we follow the land girls billeted at Goodwill House, as well as the family. There are no airs and graces as all are welcomed and treated as family.
Fenella J Miller writes in such a way that history comes alive for the reader. The British have a strong bulldog spirit as they keep calm and carry on, no matter what life throws at them.
We witness the lengths to which some will go in the pursuit of social climbing. Situations need to be investigated to find the truth.
I adore the Goodwill House series. All the characters are wonderfully drawn. With each new book I feel as if I am meeting up with dear friends. Roll on book six.
I received a free copy from Rachel’s Random Resources. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

A Wartime Reunion at Goodwill House is the fifth book in the series. It can be read as a standalone but if you haven't read the others, and if you intend to, they really need to be read in order. I haven't read all the others, but I read the fourth book in the series. I enjoyed that and am happy to say I enjoyed this one even more.

It was great catching up with the landgirls and reading more about their lives during the war. A lot of focus was on Daphne who is shocked when Bob, the man who broke her heart comes back into her life. I was close to tears a few times over what they go through. Thankfully there was a nice balance of lighthearted moments too so I wasn't left feeling low. I was however left in shock at how the book ended. It didn't end on a cliffhanger per se but it did end a bit abruptly and with a particular character, not Bob or Daphne, showing an entirely different side to himself. I definitely can't wait for the next book in the series to find out what happens next.

You don’t have to have read the first three volumes to find a charming story. According to author Fenella J. Miller “My Goodwill House series can be read as stand-alone books or in chronological order. Lady Joanna Harcourt, widowed at Dunkirk, features in every story. However, running alongside her life there is always a romance which, of course, has the essential happy-ever-after ending.” The books themselves are fairly inexpensive, and if you enjoy historical fiction with a little romance, you can’t go wrong.

Land Girl Daphne takes center stage in this volume. Jilted a year before by her betrothed, Bob, she gets assigned to Goodwill House which is near the Manston airfield. Unbeknownst to her, Bob has been assigned to the facility. The reason Bob broke up with Daphne is because they looked so much alike and, being adopted, he feared they might actually be half brother and sister. You see, Daphne revealed to him that her dad had an affair and neither could be sure if the woman wasn’t Bob’s birth mother. Naturally, Bob ends up at Goodwill House and the two vow to get to the bottom of the mystery of Bob’s birth in order to settle their feelings.

Joanna is receiving some attention from the new Lord Harcourt, the third cousin of her husband, who died at Dunkirk. But she is coming off a passionate affair with a young officer that was featured in the previous book. And it turns out Peter might not be the rightful heir to the title when a woman comes forward and says her husband, seriously injured at Dunkirk, is the rightful heir as he is a second cousin. The man had previously been reported as dead, which makes the whole situation suspicious.

As I’ve read the series, I’ve very much enjoyed the attention to historical detail in the books, As with The Little Wartime Library by Kate Thompson, there’s mention of people living in the tubes after the Blitz, and the Land Girls do real work on a local farm. German planes get into fire fights over the area and several people are shot by the bad guys, including Charlie, whom we met in the previous book. Bringing a huge dose of World War II reality into a historical romance is not an easy thing to do, but Miller does it well. I hope this series continues for a while and imagine it will. Not even a full year has gone by since the first book started January 1, 1940.

I received and Advanced Reader’s Copy from NetGalley and Boldwood Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

There is never a dull moment at Goodwill House. A Wartime Reunion is no exception. In fact, it has even more drama and shocking moments than I expected. It is a definite page-turner. Now I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.

Any good historical fiction has some actual historical facts. A Wartime Reunion at Goodwill House is an excellent historical fiction book. I like to fact check anything I find interesting. Thankfully, I keep my laptop nearby. I became fascinated with what I learned about the area during World War 2. I had no idea that residents had lived in the Ramsgate Tunnels. I still wouldn't know if it wasn't for this book.

Some of the excitement and drama was caused by attacks in the area. The characters illustrated the strength of those that experienced bombs, crashing planes, shortages, and doing their part for the war effort. They would Keep Calm and Carry On. I couldn't wait to see what the author would come up with next.

I was hooked on the story, each and every page. The story brings out all the feels. Relationships grow. Relationships begin again. Families crumble. Lives are lost. Much of it was quite unexpected making it even more of a thrilling read. The author made all feel so real.

The author threw wrench into the story that had me reading faster. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I can't believe that when the world was in crisis that theft, deception and criminal activities continued. The suspense at times was an unexpected joy.

I enjoyed catching up with the characters in this series and finding out what the next chapter in their lives brings. I thought that the story flowed and I liked how each chapter didn’t focus solely on one character but included them all. It is really interesting to read a story set in war time that focuses more on the villages, their community and land girls than London and the military side of things. Although fiction it does give an insight into what life was like during the war from an another perspective. This has a bit of everything and does touch on some quite sensitive topics., ie domestic violence. Hoping that there is another one in the series as I really want to know what happens next. Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this in exchange for an honest review.

Daphne and her friends work the farm at Goodwill House. War is always near. The story of these young women, during war time, is historical fiction at its best. Entertaining and informative, this book would make a great movie or television series. Miller keeps us interested as we cannot put down this page turner. The characters are realistic and come alive on the pages of this novel. Sometimes, it is difficult to remember this is a novel and not nonfiction. This book was sent to me by Netgally electronically for review. Thanks also to the publisher and the author for the copy. As we follow the stories of Daphne and the other women, we realize that there was a time in history when war changed lives forever. Enjoy this book as you curl up in a comfy chair with a cup of steaming herbal tea. Be transported back in time for an afternoon.

This is book number 5 in the series, and I have read them and enjoyed them all. What I like especially with this book is the characters huge personal development. I liked the lovestory in the book, though i think the author could have done a lot more with it. I just enjoy this saga. Thank you to netgalley for letting me read this e arc in exchange for an honest opinion

|'d been looking forward to the next book in the Goodwill House series and it didn't disappoint. I love the characters, they kind of feel like family friends who I always look forward to hearing about. Fenella writes about the trials and tribulations of people during WWII very well.
The scene has already been set for the next book (I think) and I, for one, can't wait to read it!
Everything about this book was tickety boo!

I've read all the books in this series but don't feel the later ones are quite as good as the first ones. Sadly they seem to keep getting a bit more far fetched every time.

Nevertheless it was an easy read with familiar characters.

I wish the author would bring Sarah back into the fold or write more about her life in London. I know nursing was hard but she never seems to get any time off and even in this book when her mother went to London Sarah's story was just a couple of pages then mentioned no more.

I'll continue to read the series although aren't quite as excited about it as I used to be.
