This story hooked me from the very beginning. I couldn't put this book down. I really wanted to see how all the conflict would be resolved. I really, really wanted to turn to the end of the book to see how everything turned out. I never do that! I held firm and read all the way though, to my absolute delight. There is a really wonderful Happily Ever After and some surprises. I liked all the characters in this story. I would have liked to sink into the pages and join along in all the action. I highly recommend this book!

Summer on Sunshine Bay is a fun, heartwarming beach read by one of my favorite authors, Debbie Mason. This is a story of surprises, not all good; but with the love and support of family and friends just about anything can be overcome and accomplished. It is a story of loyalty, complexities, and second chances. I loved the strength of the women in the family and the character development. If you are a fan of Debbie Mason, I recommend this one! If you have never read one of her books, this is a great place to start.

This was a fun summer betrayed. Set in Sunshine Bay!
The home of the Rosetti women and their marriage curse.

Ken Lila and her fiancé, David turn this curse around?

The story had A LOT of drama! And some definite laugh out loud moments.

Definitely another great story by Debbie Mason

I received this ARC from NetGalley in return for my honest opinion.

This wonderful book is emotional and complex. There’s a lot going on, in a very good way. There are family entanglements, plenty of misunderstandings, confusion, good intentions, and questioning. The bottom line in all of this is love - love of family, love between parent and child, romantic love, and good friends. And it’s about the courage that is sometimes necessary to embrace that love. Debbie Mason did a great job of making me feel like I was part of that family, feeling all the hurt and affection and emotion. I loved it and am very excited to read more about this boisterous, warm-hearted, and complicated family in Sunshine Bay!

A light and fun beach read.. It took a few tries for me to get into the groove because it was a predictable story line. But overall a fun read.

This was a very fun beach read. In this story we meet Lila, a woman coming to her hometown to announce she is pregnant and getting married, what most would consider good news. But in Lila’s family the Rosetti women are all anti marriage because of the family curse. I loved all the strong women in this story, and the wonderful bond they all shared. The setting of Sunshine Bay was beautiful and a place I wish was real so I could visit it in real life. There was a lot of drama, laughter, and delicious Italian food. Another sweet story by Debbie Mason. And I am really hoping that this is the start of a new series, as I would love to dive back into the world of the Rosetti women again. I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

Wow, this was just an absolute delight. Our main character, Lila, and her fiancé, David, are heading back to Lila’s hometown of Sunshine Bay to plan a very quick wedding. When they get to Sunshine Bay, we are introduced to a truly wonderful cast of characters, from the strong women of the Rosetti family (and their marriage curse) to David’s parents to the devastatingly handsome Luke, older brother of Lila’s high school boyfriend. This book was such a quick read, and I found myself sucked into this world. Was it predictable? Yes, but it doesn’t make it any less endearing. I loved learning about the Rosetti women (aka The Heartbreakers) and seeing the growth in each one. This is the perfect summer read, and I loved it so much.

Thank you to Debbie Mason, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and NetGalley for the advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review. This book is due to be published on May 23, 2023.

A good read overall, but must admit I did struggle a bit to stay involved with the characters. The idea of a marriage curse and such was odd to me as superstitions are not common in my thinking. Would still recommend, but would probably mean more if you were from the south.

Author/Title: Debbie Mason's Summer on Sunshine Bay

Publisher: Forever

Publication Date: May 23, 2023

Pages: 368

Peppers: 1 (and it's a bell pepper)

Warnings: Puke

Summary: Lila's fiancé David surprises her by bringing her to her hometown, where his family has just bought Windmere, a restaurant that will directly compete with her family's business. In addition to serving yummy Italian food at La Dolce Vita, the family of six women, known around town as the Heartbreakers, believe themselves cursed in love because all marriages have either not happened or ended quickly/tragically.

Eva, Lila's mother, isn't enjoying her menopausal symptoms, especially her lowering interest in sleeping around. She is dismayed that Lila's father James has announced that he's staying in town for the month until their daughter's wedding.

Tropes:

return to small town
second chance (x2)
dud of a fiancé
wild family
family curse
multiple generations
independent women who don't want marriage
busting up an engagement
What I liked:

alternating pov chapters with mother and daughter (instead of half of each couple)
fun descriptions of the food
women who live unapologetically and independently
What I didn't like:

too many characters introduced all at once
not much time showing the main couple together
Overall: 2 (of 5) stars

Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Lila has been gone from home for several years. She is excited to tell them she is engaged and is hoping they will like her fiance. Lila's family business is not doing well and she is hoping she can change that. This book was a quick read.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. The protagonist is getting married. Her husband to be is involved in his family business. That business will hurt her family business. Chaos ensues. Family dynamics are at the center of this story. It is a quick fun read. Love and romance…marriage and babies…family and friends…enjoy…
