Indigo is nearing her 30th birthday with no children or man in her life. She is a business owner of a boutique shoe store and has little time for dating. Through classic muscle cars, a tow truck, and a baby, Indigo meets men with potential to become “the one” whom she can give her heart and all to. With her best friend, Nate, by her side she might be able to find a relationship before her birthday.

I knew who Indigo would end up with but the journey was still fun to follow. I loved that she went crazy over classic muscle cars, I do the same. The book had low tension even though Indio had relationship choices to make. This is a good read/listen to enjoy when you want to read/listen without all the drama and anxiety.

I listened to the first chapter at normal speed and then at 2.0 afterward. The narrator was good, and I could image Indigo telling the story. There was inflection in their voice and it was easy to listen to.

Indigo is a lovable and relatable main character. Her situation is definitely on point with many of my friends’ experiences. That being said, it was obvious at the onset that her happy ending was right in front of her. I didn’t like that a recovering alcoholic’s alcoholism was such a big plot point as a defect of character and potential disqualifier from being a good partner. It made it hard to get through that section of the book for me, as the partner of a recovering alcoholic. The narrator did a great job of bringing the characters to life. Some of the male voices made me giggle, but they also worked!

I honestly say I really did try with this book. But oh my god did it piss me off so much. I dnfed at 50%.

So first of all I would like to say I did not like the narrator for this audiobook at all. Oh. my. Did not enjoy when she was the male voices and a lot of the scenes made me cringe and I do not know if it was the writing or the narrator.

Secondly, was the guys name Nate or Tate. Cause the blurb says the childhood friend is named Nate yet the narrator says Tate and all the other reviews of this book say Tate... SO MAYBE I'M THE ONE THAT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO READ.

Third, I already passed my mid-20 to 30 crisis. You know the one that if you're single and have never been in a relationship you feel the societal pressure to get married and have babies. It's not it for me, its annoying and Indigo for me felt like a drama queen that enjoyed living in this crisis and didn't do anything. about it.

Fourth, did I also hate the fact that this book has indirect purity culture with the judging Indigo if she was sleeping around, a woman that rarely date. Had only one boyfriend, yeah make her feel guilty for having sex (even thought she wasn't having sex).

Fifth and last, the thing that did piss me off was the fact that a person being a recovering alcoholic was a dealbreaker for Indigo when it comes to dating. You have the right to maybe not want that in your life, but her reaction to Nate saying he was an alcoholic really threw me off. I did not like ANY of the conversations I did read about this. Nate's sobriety shouldn't be put on someone else and if he was struggling and wasn't sure he shouldn't have been dating.

That's it, that is. my opinion and I really did try and like this book. Thank you so much netgalley for the audiobook version of this book.

Indigo is approaching her 30th birthday and feels like she in behind in life since she has not had a long-term relationship. She has been successful in her career and she owns a luxury store that sells shoes and accessories. One relationship that she has mastered is her friendship with Nate who has been her best friend sine childhood. They spent some time apart but now live across the street form each other. When Indigo starts to date, she is torn between two guys who could not be more different. Which will she pick.

I loved the little twist at the end of the book. I had no idea about the reason they broke up and I didn't even think that what actually happened was a possibility. I loved the friendship between Nate and Indigo and how Nate fit right in with her family. The girl tribe Indigo has supporting her was great and I loved seeing some of their relationships as well. I thought the book was really cute!

This was a cute read and perfect for those who enjoy tropes such as second-chance romance and it is a light, simple romance. Indigo was an enjoyable character to read about as well as her love interests. I would say that I could see the chemistry with Tate and Nathan but not with Diego because they never spent that much time together and it wasn't fleshed out. BTW I was biased in rooting for Nathan because he was Filipino. It was predictable and basic, so I would say that I wished more had happened, but if you're looking for a lighthearted read, this is perfect for you.

Quick Summary: A living life out loud in the real kind of story

My Review: The Many Dates of Indigo by Amber D. Samuel was a straight up, in your face, real talk book. This women's fiction story did have elements of romance (which is how it was categorized), but it was so much more than that. The underlying themes were about love, tragedy, family, friendship, betrayal, reconciliation, and personal growth.

About the Book: What appealed to me about this story was Indigo's unwillingness to compromise her wants. She, ultimately, remained true to her core values. She was strong and driven. How she chose to deal with her family and with her potential love interests was on point. She didn't abandon those she valued, and she was not afraid to courageously confront and deal with those who needed to be dealt with.

About the Most Meaningful Relationship: The relationship that mattered most was simmering throughout the reading experience. It was captivating. I could not "turn away" from what they had or what they went through.

My Final Say: This book was a total experience. The journey to the heart of Indigo was appreciated.

Other: This should be the first in a series about this special group of people. I loved the other colorful characters.

I read this book before and love it but I absolutely adored the audio of this book. The character seems more real with the voices.

Reina Mystique really brings things together with the character's voices and impressions. I laughed way more listening to this then reading it.

I enjoyed this book so much. From page one Indigo was killing me. I laughed at her antics of her with her friends and family, This was just pure fun with some serious moments

It is very clear that Indigo and Tate need to be together, I mean they are adorable together and they are already and always giving off couple vibes.

Indigo family reminds me of my own- always teasing and playing with each other but in a loving loud and sometimes rude way - it's all caring and everyone knows this.

I loved that the family arguments weren't a big deal because that's how families are sometimes

Indigo dates and the men in her life are such an ideal situation for us single gals. trying to find the one and figure out what works and doesn't work for you.

The one thing I wish for his read is if the men's finally had happened throughout the book as opposed to all at the end. we know who she ultimately would end up with but I wish there was more of a realization in the middle and a bit more internal struggle for Indigo throughout as opposed to a reaction to being single again

But beyond on I had a blast reading this and would recommend it to anyone

The Many Dates of Indigo by Amber D. Samuel was captivating! And this cover is STUNNING! I fell head-first in love with these characters, especially Indigo. Stylish and independent, Indigo is smart and flawed and confused, and imperfect and loves her family. She's very human and reminds me of well…. most of us. I really enjoyed watching Indigo navigate the world and complex situations. I wanted to hug her a little as I thought about her past regrets. The audio was great and the narrator did a great job however the male voices were a little comical. I am an Indigo FAN!

I received an audio review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest review. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

This book reminded me of my dating journey that let me to my husband. The struggle was REAL! Loved the ending. The only thing I didnt like was the narration of the man’s voice.

With all the craziness going on in my life right now, reading a short and sweet book such as this one was really refreshing. Despite the fact that it took me a little more time than it usually does for me to get into a book, I still really enjoyed it.

Indigo is having a hard time finding a partner who is her perfect fit. So she fills her social calendar to find a potential match. But has the perfect man been in front of her the whole time?
I DNF'd the ebook at 3% a few months ago, because it hit a little too close to home for me. As a single, childless woman, both by choice, I found this pressure on Indigo very annoying (as I undergo the same type of pressure and think it really is none of anybody's business), and I just couldn't push through. Entirely a me thing, nothing to do with the story or the writing, this is just a touchy subject for me (I know I sound surly, but I assure you, I'm not, and I am very happy with my life!). But it doesn't mean you shouldn't give it a try!
However, listening to the audio book gave me the latitude to doze out of the parts that I found annoying, and I could push through, so I was able to appreciate the story and stay until the end. It was cute, but unexciting. It was predictable, and I was unhappy about what lead to the resolution. It's a childhood friends to lovers romance, and the narration in the audio book was amazing! Reina Mystique had me seriously questioning if there was also a male narrator participating to it.
I received an advance review copy for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Indigo is almost 30, successful but not in the way her family planned for her, and just wants to settle down. When she starts looking for partners, the opportunities start to fall into her lap -- she just has to make up her mind between her longtime friend, the mechanic who shares her love of all things vintage, or the tenacious lawyer in her parent's firm.

While the emphasis on her success and unhappiness at being alone was underscored to an unnecessary degree to start, it was interesting to see each relationship unfold, guess where she was going to lean, cheer on each one at different points and cheer her on while she goes through her journey and overcoming her fears.

I really enjoyed this friends to lovers, second chance romance that sees Indigo trying to find love as her 30th birthday nears only to discover 'the one' might have been right in front of her the whole time. Funny and heartfelt and great on audio. Recommended for fans of books like Seven days in June. Much thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early ALC in exchange for my honest review!
