This was a fun read! I loved the silly plot, where Vanessa loses her job due to "her face", and together with her friends and a hilarious mum she becomes an accidental private detective, trying to figure out why so many people are sacked from her former work-place. The characters in this book were quirky and pretty memorable, and the plot was a mix of cute, funny, and interesting.

3.5/5.

💭What I thought would happen:

I only finally am getting to this because I’m tired of seeing it on my NetGalley shelf

🗯Thoughts/sassy musings:

Fuck me, I did this book a wild disservice! Why did I put this off? Possibly because the GoodReads rating is junk?!

I was laughing out loud. It’s hilarious. Women coming together to scheme against their delusional ex-boss? SAY LESS.

A woman with 5 dependents that are cats. Yes please! The kittens add wonderful colour! Genius!

The sexism had me RAGING! Just as the author intended! I had such a junk month. This was my fav! J’adore! Bravo!

Vanessa gets pulled into the meeting room and is told she is being fired, because of her face. Oh, also, her friend and coworker is getting fired and her other friend and coworker is on thin ice. Floundering for a few hours she agrees with her mother to file for unemployment and is told that she will most likely get it, and also something fishy is going on. Her friends and coworkers decide to dig a little deeper and channel some Sun Tzu, and slowly peel back the layers of what exactly this great start up is actually doing. The romance is alright, the foster kittens are wonderful, the friends are great, and the ending is fun. Definitely a fun read and listen for someone who hates their office job.

Cute, entertaining and funny! Wasn't sure about this one but it surprised and exceeded my expectations!

You Should Smile More is a story of a woman who has a job as a telemarketer that just pays the bills. Vanessa does not love her job but she is in a rut. Unexpectedly, Vanessa is fired from her job supposedly because of her facial expressions.

I just found the cast of characters annoying and they grated on my nerves. I finally gave up on this book at 50%. It was. DNF for me.

I received an advanced copy of the audiobook from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a fun, light hearted, often times funny,
audiobook. The narrator did a good job with all the characters. I listened to this in two days. Will seek out more books by this author!

I really liked the concept of this one. I thought it was fun and unique. Unfortunately I just wasn’t overly invested in the story. This is one of my first audiobooks post slump and I think that’s why, so unfortunately this one is on me😭

File didn’t work properly.
A self diagnosed cat lady in a dead end job Banda together with her coworker. Hilariously funny and quirky this story is unforgettable.
Never underestimate the power of work place camaraderie.

Ok in all honesty I chose this book because of the cover. A chick on a computer with her cat- whats not to love? Vanessa is fired from her job because of “her face”.. apparently faces matter when all you do is talk on the phone all day. After many drinks Vanessa and her friends plan to get back at her ex-boss and create chaos in the conference room. The narrators did a great job in this book! Thank you NetGalley for the chance to listen to this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

2 Stars

To sum it up….. this one just wasn’t for me.

I did end up finishing it only because I listened on a 1.75 speed and the story was short. I honestly probably should have not finished it after the first hour. There never really was a high part of the story for me.

There were many times I was rolling my eyes and just downright bored.

Overall, the plot seemed pointless. The whole story is about getting back at an inappropriate and ridiculous boss that fires people for silly reasons.

One positive of the story was the foster kittens. Really could have done without all the talk about feet (puke).

Thank you Net Galley for the privilege of receiving an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I enjoyed this one. Both the writing and audio were fun and engaging. I like the overall premise of the story. It felt timely, and I'm sure a bit relatable.

I liked this book, but i felt more connected to the secondary characters than the main character. and that feels very odd.

**NetGalley review**

This was a very cute, original story and I enjoyed listening to it. Vanessa is fired from her job because of "her face", but then the storyline turns into chaos. Along with her friends, they plan on taking down their boss and his shady company. The characters were well developed and it was clear to see the good guys from the bad guys. The narrator did an amazing job with voices and allowing you to get carried away in the story. I will definitely be looking forward to more books by this author! Thank you: NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, and Anastasia Ryan for allowing me to listen/read this one in exchange for an honest review.

What a cute book! I thought this entire book was so cute. I loved it from the start due to being someone who has been told me smile more my entire life. Was some of it corny and also far fetched? Yes! Did that make me love it even more? Yes!

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for access to the audiobook of You Should Smile More by Anastasia Ryan in exchange for an honest review.

CW: misogyny, sexual harassment, see full list on StoryGraph.

This was an average contemporary fiction. This book is being marketed as a romance, but the romance is not really the main plot point of this book. I would say this is more about a woman who is coming into her own and navigating her career and personal boundaries.

The relationships between the main character and her misogynist coworkers were really gross, which is always just a big detractor for me.

Overall, I'm writing this review about two months after listening to this audiobook, and I can't really remember many details of this book. I liked the quotes from the Art of War that were used to frame the plot of this book, but other than that, there isn't a ton about this book that's particularly noteworthy.

I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the audio version. The story itself was okay. I was kind of expecting to like it more but I just think the language was too strong and too much sexual situations in the novel to be a chick lit.

Imagine being fired for a stupid reason, so you want to find out what's going on with the company and you band together with others who have been fired to bring down the shady CEO. I love a group of ladies who work together and lift each other up. The side characters were actually really great in this one and rounded out the story.

I like really liked the mothers group and thought their murder wall was really funny. I could have read a whole book about them.and been happy.

I thought the romance was ok, they had a lot in common and it made sense for them to get together in the end. I also love that Vanessa created a position that was perfect for herself, found the money to create the job and then showed the company that they needed her. It was a great way to show how much she had grown in confidence over the span of the book.

I requested this for the title. As someone who suffers from severe RBF, I was horrified to learn the protagonist was fired for hers. There's obviously more to this. Mainly here for the shelter cats.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.
