I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This was a really quick, fun read! Although it was the second in a series it worked as a standalone. There wasn’t a great depth of character development but it was more plot driven anyway. The mystery was simple but I still enjoyed the ride! I think I’d like the first book if it talks more about the Pies before guys business and how it came to be.

My suspension of disbelief complaint for the book is that, filming schedule or not, no way is a reality show just not stopping when two cast members die. Like… that is in no way plausible to me. Magic murder pies? Sure. But I don’t think the PR department signed off on continuing the project!

This was a really fun book!
The plot of a baking show was totally fun, and the characters were all really well developed.
A very cute little cozy mystery with a dash of magic.
The addition of recipes at the end of the book was very sweet.

Daisy Ellery returns to baking her magical pies and other desserts in a TV Baking Competition reality show: Bake My Day. Daisy road trips up with her new Beau to the Estate where the show is being filmed. This way, she can drop off her Pies Before Guys Murder Pies on her way there and back to the men who truly deserve to die.

As she begins the competition, she realizes one of the judges is someone she was planning to drop a pie off to on her return, as ordered by his wife. The judge dies before she has the chance to serve him the murder pie. What happened? Who killed him? Will someone find Daisy’s correspondence with the wife and find out her business?

Overall, I adore bake off competitions and the cozy genre and so I enjoyed the book in general.

The mystery itself was good and played out well. I appreciated the build up and it felt realistic. I didn’t guess the entire outcome and I was pleasantly surprised.

I was impressed with the representation of diversity and inclusion within the book.

I could not give this book the 4 stars I gave to the first book. I was disappointed in this sequel because I loved the first one so much and this one didn’t have as much charm. The “Pies Before Guys” Murder Pies were not the main focus at all in the book and it takes away from why I love Daisy so much. This felt more like a side quest.

I found the setting of a reality baking competition to be unique and compelling but the author was very repetitive in describing all three rounds, each day, of the competition. As I mentioned, I love these type of shows and am a baker myself so I was still interested.

That being said, the fact that this was a reality show competition filmed in a hotel with strict deadline, NDAs, and zero internet access or contact with the outside world made for a modern twist on a Locked Room Mystery.

This audiobook was delicious! I loved the baking combined with murder. I felt like the way that the author tied these two elements in was flawless. There were times where I felt like the plot was a bit slow and I wish there was a tad bit more suspense. However, overall this is a great read for those that like the Great British Baking Show served with murder. This audiobook follows Daisy in a baking show. Where there a few different murders that occur. Can she win the grand prize or will she be next?

The mystery in the end was written well and who doesn’t love a good baking competition with mystery involved. Unfortunately tho I find myself having a hard time finishing this book.

This book reads well as a stand-alone even though it’s book 2 of a series (which I haven’t read yet)

Daisy is a baker of delicious but deadly pies who is simultaneously participating in a reality baking show and solving a murder mystery. This story was super entertaining as an audiobook. The descriptions of the pastries were top notch as I love to eat!! I loved the idea of Daisy as a baking vigilante. The dangerous and magical pies were fun. The characters were well developed and I felt like I was there watching the baking reality show.

A Good Day to Pie is the second book in the Pies Before Guys series. I was a little lost on the overarching plot but that may have been because I did not have any knowledge of the first book. Even with being lost, A Good Day to Pie was a lot of fun.

The story follows Daisy who kills men who have wronged women with a pie. The part I was lost on was how the pies are made. They are not made with poison, they are made with magic, and that magic will only harm the person it is intended for. I do want to read the first book to see if this is explained further.

Daisy makes it on to a baking competition show and one of the judges happens to be her next target. The only problem is he turns up dead before Daisy has her chance to give him a pie. He was also not the first person to die while filming the show.

This was so much fun! There was a full baking competition going on with great characters all while a murder investigation was going on. The baking competition was my favorite part. The imagery was done so well that I felt like I was watching this competition on TV.

I don’t fully understand the “magic” that goes into baking the pies. Maybe it was explained in the first book but honestly, I didn’t even care because I was having so much fun with the competition.

This is the perfect book for anyone who likes cooking or baking competitions.

This is a good book. It's definitely nothing I've ever read before. The book is entertaining, and the mystery is intriguing. The magic concept is well done, and I like how it works in the cooking. The characters are interesting, and the cooking show section was very interesting. I honestly wasn't entirely sure who the murderer was, but I love how it was revealed. Overall, it was a good book.

I thought this audiobook was interesting and I enjoyed listening to it. I thought the characters were unique, although in the beginning it was quite hard to keep track of who everybody was. The main character was very extroverted, and also very nosy. But, I guess if you are going to single-handedly solve a couple murders before the police do, you'd have to be.

It was definitely a cozy mystery, with terrible deaths treated as mysteries to figure out. I liked the setting, but found myself zoning out during some of the baking competition portions.

I thought the narrator was a bit too forced pleasant sounding (like she was giving a cheerful news broadcast), but she was consistent throughout the whole story. Also, I had no clue it was book #2 in a series. I'm wondering if maybe book #1 gives more backstory on the main character and her magical baking abilities.

Overall, I would recommend this book for a fast and easy cozy mystery read.

This is the second book in a series, which I was not aware of when I started. Even after finding that out I felt that this book could be read as a stand-alone.

The narrators did a good job bringing this story to life.

I gobbled this book up the same way I wish I was gobbling up some of the pies described. I did not read the first book in this series so I went in blind. I have to say I was VERY SURPRISED to have a serial killer main character. Yes, she's a witch but she's also judge, jury and executioner a la Dexter. Daisy is a witch so the killing is magic, but the finding out is not! She gets referrals! Also she only kills men, which seems a little weird but ok. I had to put some of my feelings about a demi-deity killing people to enjoy this book but enjoy it I did. I've tried a few books that try to recreate the Great British Bake Off magic and this is the only book I have found that is successful. I really loved reading about Daisy's experience, the friendships, the baking. The mystery on top is good (though the fact she herself is a murderer makes the cozy mystery stuff ethically dubious, I have to say). I really loved the upbeat tone, the humor, the cuteness. I have recommended this on my instagram and I absolutely love it.

The premise of this was fun, but I struggled to get into this. Perhaps in part because there were so many character - it was hard to connect. I felt like the magic aspect could have been touched on more. The ending was well thought out. I enjoyed the narrator.

Quick, easy listen with a fun premise. I didn't realize this was the 2nd in a series, and was fine without having read the 1st BUT I would probably have enjoyed it a little more if I had. The narrator seemed to fit well for this one, too.

A Good Day to Pie was great! It was an easy listen and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. I do realize that this is the second book in the series but I don’t think you need to read the first one to get the gist of this one. It takes place on a baking show and one of the contestants was murdered. Daisy works her magic and sleuthing skills to figure out who committed the crime while also baking phenomenal pastries to try and make it to the finals for the show. If you’re looking for an easy read, this is the book for you.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me listen to this audiobook! This was far more fun than a murder mystery should be. The characters were well fleshed-out and I found myself rooting for different people to succeed in the competition.

I didn’t realize this was a sequel until a few chapters in but I was still able to enjoy it. My only complaint was that it felt really long and a lot of time was spent on subplots that didn’t really go anywhere. I would have liked more resolution to those secondary plots if the author is going to bring them up.

I’m so glad this is part of a series! I can’t wait to read book 1. I loved the concept of baking murder into pies, and adding a baking show (which I am now obsessed with!!) made this so enjoyable! I think I listened to this book within 24 hours; once I started I couldn’t stop.

I enjoyed the characters and felt that the mystery moved at a good pace. This was the perfect cozy mystery for the weekend!

Think, baking show meets murder mystery, and it is a perfect combination. This book will make your taste buds come to life and make you dream about delectable desserts while also trying to solve a murder. I was hoping for a little more of the main characters murder pie business to be worked into the plot but the murder mystery element was still there. The story was told with great character and plot development. Can you determine who is the killer?

This one was just ok. The first one was so much better, but that is expected with series. I would have like to see a lot more “murder pies “being given out instead of the cooking show.

My Review: A Good Day to Pie by Misha Popp was book 2 in the Pie Before Guys Mystery series. Not only did this book provide a marvelous who-done-it multiple murder experience, but it also introduced a bountiful feast of colorful characters with fantastic background stories. While this may have been my first PBG mystery, I can guarantee that it will not be my last.

My Final Say: This was a most excellent read (listen). I definitely recommend it those who love a good cozy mystery.
