Every Missing Girl

By Leanne Kale Sparks

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape media for the advanced copy of this audiobook.

Frankie is an amazing young teenage girl who is a great hockey player and a smart girl.
One night after a hockey game, Frankie does not come out of the locker room. Her mom, dad, uncle, homicide detective Adam Taylor and family friend Special Agent Kendall Beck start to look for the girl but cannot find her.
What happened to Frankie?
The scenarios are never ending and the twists and turns in this story are solid.
I really enjoyed listening to this story, it look me out of my present life and kept me entertained. Thank you

I’m sitting here 15 minutes after finishing this book still shocked. That was the end?!? No come back and tell me that wasn’t it! I’m ready for the next in the series now.

I did figure out one twist pretty early on but boy did another sucker punch me out of the blue.

I really hope this is a very long series with lots of books because these characters are great. I will say I didn’t realize this was book two and had no problem reading this. I’m going back now to read book one.

This is the second book I’ve listened to by this author. I found it somewhat difficult to follow because of the multiple cases the characters were handling. Unfortunately, was not a fan of the narration.

I liked the setting and the characters. Colorado Rockies are always a plus in my book. Great follow up, excited for more from the series

I didn’t realize this was book 2 in a series. Once I did, I decided to read book one first. While you could read these as standalones they were both so fantastic and worth reading in order! Every Missing Girl was a wild ride and I could have never guessed the ending! I loved the every page of the book. The narrator was also awesome.

I will definitely recommend this book to readers. It is a great story but I almost didn't listen to it because I did not like the narrator. The narration improves further into the book but the beginning was hard to get past. The story is about missing children, sex trafficking and the horrific things people do to others to make money.

Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks
Narrator, Erin Deward
I am sorry to say that I could not make myself listen to this book. The writing seemed very immature and the narrator was grating. I did not read the first book but I think it likely that would only have warned me not to try this one.

I didn’t realize this book was the second in the series, but I think it worked well as a stand-alone as well. I really loved the story and it felt much more like a “true crime” podcast or story, with the bonus of it being fiction and from the POV of a detective and FBI agent.

There are two cases going on in this book, and eventually Adam’s niece goes missing as well. As the story progresses, it’s discovered that the two cases may have a common thread tying them together. Additionally, Adam insists on helping Kendall on her case since it is suspected that it could be connected to his niece’s disappearance. This aspect of the story really drives the urgency and was my favorite part of the storyline as well.

I really enjoyed the writing and the storyline, and I will definitely go back and read the first book of the series.

Kendall and Adam are back.

A double murder, a hockey game….Adam’s niece goes missing. Every minute counts in this fast-paced murder mystery-turned personal missing person story.

I was able to listen to this book in an afternoon and couldn’t wait to get to the end of it. It was full of twists and turns. I loved the police tactics laid bare and the relationships built between departments of law enforcement.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for access to this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Every Missing Girl is a nice example of the genre. It was a sometimes engorssing story that was easy to listen to, but just as easy to forget when I put it down. Nothing wrong with that. It felt the same as a lot of other books to me. So, while I enjoyed the story as I was reading it, I’m not sure I’ll remember much about it or its characters in a week. Read to enjoy.

Okay. All the stars. All of them. Not me sobbing in a coffee shop bathroom over a mystery thriller. What has my life come to. Every so often, as in Unsub, an author just strikes all the right chords in their literary performance and manages to unravel me completely, as this did.

Now to start, a few things. This has tough subject matter so major TW for child trafficking, child abduction, gun violence, loss of a child, sexual assault, and brutal violence. Secondly, I haven't read the first Kendall Beck (I will be now) but you can do this as a stand alone imo, I'm not 100% sure what the first book is about but I got a pretty good summary I think in this one.

This is a book you need to PAY ATTENTION TO. It was similar in that regard to the 7 1/2 deaths of evelyn hardcastle where you need to be able to focus on the web that's being spun in order to appreciate the ending to its fullest degree. I would maybe advise against doing this on audio for that reason, unless you're a particularly slow reader.

Procedurally, there were absolutely some flaws (but they HAD to be there for the operation of the story) so if that's an issue for my legal besties out there then hop off the train at this station. However, it did not bother me in the slightest and I LOVED both Adam and Kendall. The character development was great and I always like the unravelling of webs of lies of individuals that may not always be related to the story at hand. Because practically, investigations don't only give you relevant information and there are leads and avenues you need to go down that you realize are a waste of time.

Anyways, sorry for my novel of a review, I loved it!

"Time was still passing though it should have stopped the moment Frankie disappeared."

In the 9 hours and 51 minutes I listened to the tensed time sensitive police procedural, Every Missing Girl by chilling prose author Leanne Kale Sparks, book 2 of the Kendall Beck series, I don't think I moved once.

Just like in The Wrong Woman, where we were introduced to the tough smart yet traumatized Kendall and honest strong Detective Adam Taylor, both are working separate cases which connect but this one hits too close to home for Adam.

Kendall has become part of Adam's family after he helped find her best friend's killer but they are just friends (hopefully book 3 will make them more) so she's with him at the ice rink to watch his 12 year old niece Frankie play hockey. So how does an FBI agent specializing in missing children and a veteran detective not see who took Frankie from the time the game was over until no one was left in the locker room?

As each chapter begins with how many hours and minutes Frankie has been missing we all know the longer it takes to find her, and finding her alive, diminishes with each tick of the second hand.

Narrator Erin Deward is impressive going from angst tweens to fearful parents, to vile sex traffickers, to a determined Kendall.

Though a standalone listening/reading The Wrong Woman helps understand Kendall and Adam'sand unique friendship. This ending stunned me into silence. I knew who was guilty but I didn't see that gobsmack end. I didn't see what was really going on with Frankie's Mom and am still not sure how I feel about her reactions. This author is the real deal. She made sure we all remember every missing girl and I, for one, will never forget Frankie.

Adam is a homicide detective and he has paired up with FBI Agent Kendall Beck to investigate a kidnapping. But, when Adam’s niece, Frankie, disappears from the hockey rink, the investigation has suddenly gotten personal!

I enjoyed Adam and Kendall! These two are strong for each other without the intrusion of chemistry. Adam and Kendall are just good friends and better partners. But, don’t think Kendall won’t put Adam in his place! She is definitely the one in charge. I loved her intelligence and her way with children. Adam can get a bit over zealous. But, his niece is missing and his emotions are high.

Now, this ending will mess you up…just a warning. This is what made this book for me. I love it when the ending takes a twist you never expected.

The narrator, Erin DeWard, did a very good job. She is intense and just the right times.

Need an all around good FBI thriller…THIS IS IT! Grab your copy today.

⭐️Rating: 4/5
✍🏼Author: Leanne Kale Sparks
🗣️Narrator: Erin DeWard
📖Genre: Mystery Thriller

::Summary::

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck and Denver PD Detective Adam Taylor work together on two cases: a double murder with ties to sex trafficking, and the disappearance of Frankie, Adam's niece.

::My thoughts::
A wild ride with two cases in one book! Adams’s niece goes missing as he works with Kendall Beck on another case involving a double murder. It was a race against the clock as you get a play by play trying to figure out what happened.

As for the narration, I think Erin DeWard did an okay job. I must admit , I judge audio books a little harder because you have to be exceptional to keep my attention the whole time. She was alright but I did find myself getting bored with her narration.

Overall the story is great and I can’t wait to get my hands on the physical copy and read it over again.

I loved this book! It left me guessing and the ending broke my heart. This was a great thriller and was a breath of fresh air as there was no happy ending.

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck and Denver Homicide Detective Adam Taylor team up to investigate a kidnapping, after a missing girl turns up at the scene of a double homicide. When Taylor's niece, Frankie, vanishes at a local hockey rink soon after, the disappearance has law enforcement worried. Will Beck and Taylor be able to put together the pieces before it is too late?

Well narrated by Erin DeWard, the story takes on a realistic tone with a plausible conclusion. The voice actor does a great job of portraying the characters and gives good movement to the story.

The story does plod along a little, but that is realistic to police work of this nature. The ending of the novel is refreshing, as novels of this sort usually do not conclude realistically.

Though I did not read the first book with these characters, I never once felt lost. The author did a good job of catching readers up to speed, with a little background mixed in with the current timeline.

I look forward to reading the first novel and any ones that come from this point forward. For these reasons, I would recommend Every Missing Girl in audio format to other readers.

This was a pretty good and engaging thriller; it was full of twists and very emotional. The plot was a little convoluted, but I liked how it all came together in the end. I didn't realize it was book 2 in a series so I'm definitely interested in reading book 1, but it can definitely be read as a standalone. I listened to the audiobook and the narration was just ok; I think it would have been improved with 2 narrators since there were two POVs.

I started in before realizing it was book #2 in a series. Instead of remaining engaged in the story and plot, I found myself wondering what I was missing not having read the first. Ultimately, it was my own curse and I had to table the book halfway through.

The plot is intriguing and I like the narrating. Pace is good for an audiobook. I will start over with book 1 and come back to this.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I am new to this author, but the plot sounded interesting, so I went for it. It was ok. I had a hard time staying engaged with the story because it felt like I needed information from a previous book. I personally didn't find it suspenseful, but the mystery was pretty good. I will read the first book in this series to see if that fills in the gaps.
