Kendall Beck is an FBI agent in Denver, Colorado. She is friends and works with Denver Homicide Detective Adam Taylor. Kendall went to Adam’s niece, Frankie, hockey game. Frankie a 12 year old girl who is harassed by some boys on her hockey team turns up missing after the game. Missing children are Kendall’s specialty but Adams emotional connection to Frankie causes issues within the investigation. Convenience store shoot out, teen pregnancy, drug dealers, and “nice” people are along the road in Kendall’s investigation of Frankie’s disappearance.

Trigger warning for those who are sensitive to child trafficking. There are no explicit descriptions but does have general information.

This is the second book in a series, there were a few references, but this can be read/listened to as a stand-alone book. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything by not having read the first book. The book made me angry and cry, but I still liked it. This is a good mystery thriller and I would recommend to others.

I listened to the first chapter at normal speed and then at 2.0 thereafter. The narrator had a good voice and portrayed the many characters well and helped create suspense during the fight scenes.

🎧 Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Wow! What a ride. This book is really two stories: a robbery gone wrong on one side of own, and a girl who disappears from a hockey rink on the same day. Are these crimes connected? If so, how? The way the stories came together was fantastic. There were breadcrumbs all along the way that gave me a good idea of where the story was going. Even though I was going where Sparks was leading me, I loved the way it all unfolded. The narration was fantastic and I was fully engaged listening while walking the dog and cleaning the house. Apparently this is a second book about the main FBI detective on the case. I wish I’d read the first book first, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this one. It reminded me a bit of Karin Slaughter’s Will Trent books, which I loved. Thank you to @dreamscape_media and @netgalley for this advanced copy of this audiobook to review. I definitely enjoyed it! It releases February 7th and you won’t want to miss it.

Thank you to NetGalley & Crooked Lane Books for this ARC!

I have got to say I never ever saw that ending coming, it completely shocked me. Which is a good/sad thing. I love when I cannot guess the ending of a mystery and this did not disappoint.

The story follows FBI agent Kendall Beck and her friend/Denver PD cop Adam through at first a murder at a convivence store that ends up being a child trafficking case. The story then goes on with the twist and turns of how the two are intertwined. When Frankie, Adam's niece goes missing and when the story start to really take off. Had a really nice pace to it and was great listening to it on audio!

I highly recommend this book to anyone that is a mystery/crime reader!

An average, fast-paced police thriller/mystery. It was a little disjointed with multiple story lines. I get what the author was trying to do but it took away from the main story line.

Brief Description: a girl is present at a c-store crime scene and it turns out she was kidnapped and being transported. One of the officer’s niece’s goes missing shortly after from her hockey game, indicating that the first instance wasn’t an isolated event.

Review:
I really enjoyed this audiobook. It was obvious to me that we were getting both law enforcement agent's perspectives even though it was a single narrator. I liked how the two individual cases became intertwined. The story had enough twists to keep me on my toes but didn't feel far-fetched. The ending was not what I expected at all, but in a good way. It wrapped everything up sufficiently. I didn't know until I started the book that this was actually #2 but it works fine as a standalone. I really enjoyed Beck and Taylor's partnership and friendship. I would definitely continue reading books in this series.

I was interested in listening to this book largely because it takes place in my town in Colorado. It read like a pretty standard investigative/police procedural involving kidnapping. There were not a lot of twists to keep track of so the story was easy to follow. I enjoyed the accuracy of the types of people that live in the town, and there were a lot of familiar places. This was a very typical investigative thriller, but moved a little slower than I am accustomed to.

I enjoyed the multiple layers of investigation - several crimes took place which kept me interested in how the plot would develop and how the stories would ultimately intersect.

I was not as engaged in the audio as I was hoping to be. Part of the issue for me was the voices sounding very similar, which made it harder to keep track of who was speaking. I would be interested in reading other books by this author, rather than listening to the audio. I think that would enable me to connect more with the characters.

Triggers include child kidnapping, discussion of child abuse and trafficking.

Listened to this via audio (not my preferred means of consuming books) but the narrator was good and not distracting from the story.

Two major crimes are the premise of this book. Really enjoyed the authors style, his story lines ebbed seamlessly and a GOOD ending. Often authors throw the kitchen sink or everything to the wall snd I appreciated this book was not that!

Only thing I’d recommend is realizing this was book two of a series (which was fine) but know I’d have appreciated the characters more by reading the first book in the series. Thank you to NetGalley for an early copy of this book in exchange for a honest review!

FBI Special Agent Kendall Beck specializes in finding missing children and is called in by Denver police detective Adam Taylor when a young child ends up at at homicide scene without her parent or guardian. Kendall and Adam quickly figure out that young girl, Savannah, is out of place in the dingy convenience store and has been kidnapped from her family.

While trying to figure out who took Savannah from her family, Adam’s 12-year-old niece Frankie goes missing from the local ice rink after her hockey game. Kendall and Adam continue to work together investigating what they think might be a child trafficking ring, and in the process find a list of suspects as well as another ring of illegal drug sales to minors. To make matters worse, Adam’s sister in law Poppy is uncooperative while her own child is missing.

Following Kendall and Adam’s moves hour by hour, we find out how big this messy trafficking web is, and how many players are involved. Time is running out, as they work together to try to find Frankie before it’s too late.

Full of gritty details, Every Missing Girl, can be hard to read at times, but Leanne Kale Sparks does an excellent job of pacing, keeping the reader on their toes as time ticks by and Frankie remains missing. Technically book two of a series, this can easily be read as a stand alone. I will definitely be going back to find the first book and read it as well!

Thank you to Netgalley, Dreamscape Media, and of course Leanne Kale Sparks for the advanced copy of the audiobook. Every Missing Girl comes out on February 7th. All opinions are my own.

I will not be continuing on with this series. I do not understand the need to traumatize all your characters. It's a bit ridiculous. Who will be the next to lose someone they love? I did not enjoy this one at all.

First and foremost, I did not know this was the second book in a series, so I hadn't read the first installment. However, although there were references to the 1st book, at no point did I feel overwhelmed by the fact that I hadn't read it. There are spoilers for book 1 in this book, so be prepared.

The audiobook was an easy read. The narrator was adept at changing the pitch of her voice, so it was pretty easy to keep up with the story, even listening at 2x speed.

The story itself was far darker than I was expecting, and that was even with some of the elements being brushed over. Kendall (FBI) and Adam (Denver PD) are a nice pairing, especially with the removal of sexual tension from their work. Probably the biggest hurdle in the plot is getting over the idea that Adam would be allowed to work on his niece's disappearance case.

Kendall is capable and calm. Of course, match ups with men twice her size don't leave the physical marks they probably should, but that's a minor hiccup. Chasing leads for two crimes simultaneously means the plot is always racing forward, and it's easy to remain engaged.

The ending was one that I didn't see coming, and while the final chapter wasn't my favorite, I appreciated this book for it's unexpected turn. (Also, I fully intend to go back and read that first book!)

Overall: 4 stars

I'll tell my students about: language, sex, sexual abuse, sex jokes, child trafficking, kidnapping, rape, pedophiles, mature content, trauma, murder, blood/gore, physical violence, emotional abuse, alcohol, crime/robbery

The ending 😢 this book was so crazy with all the different pieces to the puzzle. While one part of the book the investigator is trying to find his niece and her whole backstory. The other part of the book is his FBI partner trying to track down the facts of all these other missing girls and the details to those cases. Such a great investigation style book if you are into true crime solving cases. Thanks NetGalley for the early listen.

Every Missing Girl is a unique procedural mystery. I loved the overall mystery of the story and the partnership/friendship between the FBI and the homicide police. I especially loved that the partnership was productive instead of antagonistic, as is commonly portrayed.

Overall this audiobook was highly entertaining and kept you guessing, but it had too many twists. I never thought I'd say that because I love a good plot twist, but the detectives were following so many random mysteries and side stories (because every single character was lying or a criminal). It just got a little convoluted, but not so bad that I wanted to stop reading it.

I would definitely recommend this to fans of crime shows or procedural novels. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for letting me listen!

Loved this book! Two separate crimes … or are they? The intertwining cases keep you intrigued the entire time and questioning “who” is behind both cases. A must read for thriller readers!

This book was fast pace and captivating. I listened to the audible version and it was great. This book is second in series for Kendall Beck series. I did not know this at time of reading and did not feel I missed out- I do however love this book and plan to go back and read it. Kendall Beck is FBI special agent and is really good at her job. I loved her personality and how she handled the investigations. In this book Kendall teams up with Adam Taylor who is Denver homicide secretive. Kendall and Adam are team together to investigate a robbery with a murder and child kidnapping. While investigating this case Adam Taylor’s niece, Frankie disappears. Absolutely loved the writing style and story. It was captivating.

This is the second book in a series. I didn’t pay attention to that and read this one without reading the first. I can’t say for sure but I think that you’d get a bit more out of this if you read the first one first because it seems to discuss things that could have taken place in that book. I can’t be sure since I didn’t read that one but it felt that way. That said, I really didn’t feel like this was hard to follow or anything starting with it.
This book takes place in Colorado's Rocky Mountains. It’s beautiful but there are a whole lot of deadly secrets all over the place. FBI Special Agent Kendall Bech and Denver Homicide Detective Adam Taylor have teamed up together to investigate a kidnapping. Detective Taylor’s niece, Frankie, has vanished from a local hockey rink. They are sure there is a predator on the loose and the case has turned personal.
As the two get deeper into the investigation, they start to uncover some devastating facts and truths about th fate of the missing girls. Not just the recent girls but also those that came before them. They are racing against the clock to locate Frankie, but will they make it in time?
This is a good book. It has twists and turns you don’t really see coming. It definitely keeps you guessing and on your toes.
If you like audiobooks, I received a copy of that from NetGalley and it’s fantastic. The narrator is incredibly talented and gives all the characters different tones and texture to them. If you like audiobooks I recommend this one.

When his niece, Frankie, goes missing after a hockey game, Denver Police Detective Adam Taylor leans on FBI Agent Kendall Beck as they race to find Frankie before it's too late in this suspenseful story from Leanne Kale Sparks.

I absolutely loved everything about this book. The characters feel real and their dynamic is awesome. The case is complex and well-constructed without the tedium of a standard police procedural. The end is shocking. I absolutely could not put it down!

The only criticism I have is that the description of the book starts with "The stunning landscape of the Colorado Rocky Mountains"....and there really isn't that much description of the setting. Would have loved to see some of that incorporated into the story so you feel like you're there. That being said, the story doesn't need it, this story would be killer anywhere, it's just a weird thing to lead with when it's not really a focus.

10/10. Highly Recommended.

I really enjoyed this author’s writing style. The ending was so satisfying, which made this a great read. Highly recommend!

I thought this book had great momentum & the characters and story were really well done. But the ending was very unsatisfying. I am a realist and understand that things don’t always end happy, but it just sort of fell flat for me. I needed more of a resolution for Frankie! In my opinion the ending felt rushed. Maybe if Frankie had died for a reason, maybe protecting the other girl or something it would’ve been a more satisfactory ending and an overall better book.

I couldn’t stop reading this one! Kendall is a strong FMC and is often underestimated. I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed her putting arrogant people in their place. I knew I would like her when the first thought when she arrived at the crime scene was who would clean all the blood off the packaged food, and how she hoped that they didn’t throw it out because all of the people at the crime scene wouldn’t mind if it was cleaned off 😂 I snorted, but that appealed to my darker sense of humor. She then talked about how much she wanted to throat punch people, and I was like, omg no way, me too! So now I’m basically twinsies with this strong AF FBI agent. In fact the only bad thing I had to say about the book was that I didn’t like the line “emergency rooms are the last place to go if you have an actual emergency, you go there to sit and wait” my friends, if you are sitting and waiting at an ER, it’s because there is someone much worse off than you being treated. It’s called triage. But that’s my soapbox as a nurse, and I’ll step off of it for now (and by the way she was shown right back 😒) it was a fast paced dual storyline novel that had me reading as fast as possible to figure out what happened. It was a great read!

FBI agent Kendall Beck works to try and find missing children. Adam is part of the Denver PD. They get a case where it is a double homicide, and a missing child was recovered at the scene. They are working that to figure out what exactly happened. After work they go to see Adam’s niece play hockey. And she never comes out from the locker room to meet her family. She went missing while they were right there. Now the clock is ticking while they try to wrap up the shooting and find his niece before it is too late.

I had to dnf this one unfortunately. I feel like the plot and story line was extremely good and something I could get behind, but the dual pov perspectives yet the audiobook being read by the same person throughout was too hard for my brain personally. When it comes to audiobooks I really rely on the difference in voices and I just didn't get that with this one.
