Thank you to Dreamscape for the ARC, I appreciated it. Amy Rose Bennett did a wonderful job combining mystery, romance and family issues. In this story. The two main characters had chemistry popping off the pages and left me rooting for them to get together. The Gillian in the story was so well written that I could not wait till he got knocked down a peg. A must read.

Lucy Bertram is a very intelligent bluestocking who loves botany. William Lockhart is an earl and an agent for the crown investigating a murder. When they meet, he is masquerading as the new groom on her father’s estate. Lucy and her father are experts in poisonous plants. Could Will suspect one of them? This is an exciting and entertaining story with wonderful characters; a delightful story with a steamy romance, a mystery, a dose of danger, a truly vile villain, and a wonderful ending. I enjoyed Sasha Higgins’s narration of the story.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and am voluntarily reviewing it.

I finished this one yesterday. I loved the first book in the series, so I knew I had to read this one as well! I loved and enjoyed listening to this book as well. I’ll be getting a physical copy of this book 📕 to add to my collection. I loved the main characters, especially Lucy as the lead female character, she was fun to read. The love ❤️ story was great! There was also a mystery throughout the book, that I really enjoyed. I can’t wait to read the third book in the series!

This is a very cozy historical romance. Nothing is too highstakes. The audiobook matches the text well and didn't pull me out of the world! This is the perfect audiobook to listen to in between highstakes reads or after a long day at work. I'll definitely be picking up the rest of the series!

I just absolutely adored this book, even more so than the first one in this series. I have been looking forward to this one since I met Lucy in book one. This was such a comforting and absolutely tender romance. Will and Lucy are perfectly matched characters and they have amazing chemistry. There is plenty of yearning and lusting paired with heart achingly sweet emotional scenes and very steamy sex scenes. It was all just so sweet and endearing, and it made their eventual happy ending so much more romantic and swoon worthy.

There are a few things in particular that I loved about Lucy and Will's relationship. I loved how they both seemed to see each other in ways no one else did and in that, it made their relationship a new experience for both of them. The tension between them grows with each page and I really felt the buildup throughout the first half of the novel. I also appreciated that Will honestly trusts Lucy and confides in her the truth of why he is undercover at her home. I also loved that Will was extremely attracted to Lucy's intelligence and tells her how extraordinary she is when he witnesses her botany knowledge first hand.

The mystery that is paired with the romance in this novel was also intriguing, though I will say, that as a mystery reader, I did guess from the get-go who the poisoner was. This didn't hinder my enjoyment of the book, especially because this is first and foremost a romance, not a mystery novel.
That being said, it took Lucy and Will on one heck of journey. I enjoyed the botanical aspect of the mystery. And of course I loved Lucy and her knowledge of poison plants being the key to solving the mystery.

Overall, I loved this book so much. It's my first five star read of 2023 and I can only hope that trend continues. This was a beautiful romance and paired with a decent mystery that was compelling on it's own. I honestly cannot wait for the third book in the series. I can only see it being better than the first two.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and Netgalley for the audio-arc of this book!

Lucy is content as a spinster and bookworm often assisting her father in his work. But when her father insists she accepts the attention of a horrid man to save the family from financial ruin, she looks for her disowned brother Monty for assistance. She requests the assistance of the family’s handsome new groom in locating Monty. However the new groom is actually the Earl of Kyle, a spy on the hunt for a killer.

I think the choice in audiobook narrator wasn’t necessarily the best fit for this book. She read the character of Lucy as extremely juvenile to the extent that it often made scenes uncomfortable to listen to. She also portrayed Will with a Scottish accent that constantly reminded you that you were being read to instead of having the narrator embody the character. I definitely think I would have enjoyed a physical copy of this book more.

The romance took a bit to gain momentum but when it did sparks flew. There was instant attraction between Lucy and Will followed by secret meetings and revelations. It was relatively low angst which I admit is a bit of a departure for me. The spy subplot provided a decent break from the spicy romance but was kind of obvious from the beginning pages of the book.

Curled Up with An Earl was a great follow-up novel but it was not as enjoyable as its predecessor.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media for an advanced listening copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I am reviewing the audio version and the narrator of this book, Sasha Higgins, is wonderful! She has different voices for each major character, and it isn't hard to tell who is speaking. Her interpretation of the narrative is just great. This is the second book in the Byronic Book Club Series, and I loved the cloak and dagger spy mystery plot of this book. What can I say? I'm a Romantic-Suspense fan and love to see that aspect in an Historical Romance book.

Miss Lucy Bertram is almost on the shelf, but even though she is 28, her father hasn't given up hope of an advantageous match for her, and his flagging finances too. Lucy only wants to be left in peace to pursue her scientific studies and writings. The prospective suitor her father has chosen is a wealthy industrialist and bores her to tears. But even though they don't suit at all, the dastardly suitor just won't go away and her father, Sir Oswald, won't give up either.

As fate would have it, Lucy falls on her face at the feet of a handsome groom, who is actually a spy sent to investigate her father. Undercover for Scotland Yard, William Lockhart, the Earl of Kyle, is nothing is not enchanted by the lovely Lucy. But he has strong suspicions that her father is behind the deaths of several Linnean Society members, and behind the threats the Charles Darwin. All he needs is evidence.

Lucy and William both know that her unacceptable suitor, Mr. Thorne, is putting pressure on her father. They work together to uncover just who poisoned her father's colleagues and why her father is so determined to see her married to Mr. Thorne.

My thanks to the Publisher and the Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

I adore this series and the intelligent, strong, and heroic ladies of the Byronic Book Club! Lucy and Will had dynamite chemistry throughout the whole book- I loved their dynamic and how Will never doubted her. I appreciated that this story didn’t have the awkward 3rd act breakup and that the characters were mature in their communication with one another! The crime solving aspect was fun and unique for a regency romance! Overall, I enjoyed this book and definitely recommend for a happy, feel good, comfort romance read!

Lucy is a 28-year-old spinster living with her father. He's an acclaimed botanist but it's really Lucy who wrote his book. They have a poison plants garden and it is Lucy's dream to travel to discover and write about the medicinal use of plants. Her family is falling apart. Her father, Sir Oswald, and brother Monty argued a few months ago. Her father disowned him for some reason and he hasn't been seen since. Also, the household is in financial trouble. Her father won't talk but something is very wrong. He is pleading with her to marry an odious man she wants nothing to do with. Will, a covert agent for the Crown is sent there undercover as a groom. Someone killed a member of the Linnean Society with strychnine and is threatening to kill others unless they expel Charles Darwin for his views on natural selection and evolution. Sir Oswald, with his knowledge and availability of poisons, is their prime suspect. This is a delightful romance. Will is supportive of Lucy's scientific endeavors and helps in her search for Monty. I like a romance with a little mystery. I had started reading the book when I had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook. Sadly, I couldn't enjoy the narration of Will. The sexy groom Lucy was drooling over had the wavering voice of an elderly woman. I went back to reading the book and completely enjoyed it. I received an ARC of this title from the publisher via NetGalley for an honest review.

This should be a surprise for all of us. When I tried to read the first book in this series I did not have a good time so I was hesitant when picking up this audiobook. Obviously, it was a pleasant surprise.

The romance itself wasn’t bad but it wasn’t my favorite, though my real issue with it was the steamy scenes. I really should’ve just skipped right through those. That being said, the romance was only one part of this book's plot; there was also a murder mystery.

When I tell you I had the time of my life with that murder mystery plot line you better believe it. Was it very obvious to not only you as the reader but also the characters? Yes. Were the unknown parts of the mystery easily guessed? Yes, but I was so happy when I was right.

I don’t think I’ll finish the series when the next book comes out but this was an unexpectedly good time and I’m happy I did manage to talk myself into finally picking it up.

Thank you to the publishers, author and NetGalley for the free copy of this audio book.

This is not my usual read but I'm glad I requested it? It was pretty good! Not too many over the top sex scenes, which can be interesting but most of the time have my rolling my eyes. I actually enjoyed the romance between the main characters and would probably read more in this series in the future. The narrator was good, although I wasn't a fan of the accent for Will.

Curled Up With an Earl is a perfect choice for a historical romance fix. The romance is sweet and the steam slowly escalates throughout the story. The plot is bolstered by a murder mystery for readers that desire a little extra intrigue. I didn't love the narrator's voice for the MMC, but her overall performance was great. There were a few quirks of the FMC, specifically her creative vocabulary, that was over-the-top for me.

Thank you Amy Rose Bennett, NetGalley, and Dreamscape Media for my audio advanced review copy. My opinions are my own.

A very enjoyable historical romance!
I loved the first book in the series, so I couldn't wait to get my hands on Curled Up with an Earl and it did not disappoint.
I loved the relationship between Lucy and Will. I think their relationship developed at a great pace and was a lovely friends to lovers romance. It also offered a little bit of class difference romance & secret identity trope. They get to spend a lot of time together and the reveal of Will's true identity wasn't as big of a deal as it could've been because of the relationship they had already established. I think the romance between the two allowed each of the characters to blossom into the best version of themselves. Lucy becomes more confidant and Will is more open.
I also think the balance between the romance and the spy/mystery plot was well balanced. I was invested in both but didn't feel that the mystery overshadowed the romance. I also found the mystery plot to be well crafted.
I liked the narrators for the audiobook too. They really added to the story and helped bring it to life.
Overall, this was a very enjoyable historical romance with mystery elements.
Recommend for readers who enjoy friends to lovers, secret identity, forced proximity, mystery, spy mystery, wallflower heroine, low angst, and mid steam.

This was another fun addition to the Byronic Book Club series. I enjoyed the mystery subplot, as well as the romance. It also had talk about plants which I love in any book. Overall an enjoyable read.

Curled up With an Earl by Amy Rose Bennett was a fun and engaging adventure from the past. The orator got you involved in the characters and use voice inflection to dictate which character she was speaking as.

From a fun almost Hatfields and McCoy idea these two fall in love, but can't be together because of a feud the family had. The secret interludes and secret meanings to things they say the story heats up and they end up falling in love.

The love of her life helps her father get his eye surgery and she falls even more in love with him. She learns how to flirt and take advantage of a situation. It's a fun enjoyable romance novel.

This was a fun ride! I loved Lucy and Will’s instant connection, despite him being her family’s new groom. I really enjoyed the mystery elements and seeing Will try to solve the case. This was very instant attraction, but I still thought Lucy and Will worked out well. I loved romances, and particularly historical romances, with strong and smart women. This has been a great series for that and I hope Jane gets a book too!

I alternated between the ebook and audiobook. I enjoyed both, but the narrator is not my absolute favorite.

I love Scottish heroes and wanted to love this one, but I didn't. I think I made have enjoyed it more if I read it instead of listening to the audiobook. The narrator sounded too immature, especially reading the heroine's part. It was distracting. The heroine was also awfully immature--offering to pay the hero with kisses!--until close to the end of the novel when she had an inexplicable personality change. I liked the idea of the mystery. This book just fell short.

Great historical world building and genuinely likable main characters come together in this gentle, cozy historical romance.

I wanted to give this book more stars but the pacing of the story lagged, and the narrator does her best for a Scottish accent but misses the mark.

This book is best if you want to slowly wander the streets of regency era England with a likable cast of characters.

Lucy is the kind of heroine that every reader wants to be. She's funny, engaging, loves gothic romances and is clever to boot. The second book in the Byronic Book Club series and another smashing success. I love to read Amy Rose Bennett. She knows how to bring the heat and make you smile all the way through. Five smashing stars.
