Ohhhh what a great read. Loved Marcie and JBs story. This book has just the right amount of action, suspense and romance! I will be reading more of her books. When Marcie is taken hostage in a robbery, who comes to her rescue but her ex husband. But there is more to the story, and it gets better! Enjoy!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and author of this book for allowing me to read this book for free on exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this book. I’m not one to much like suspenseful books, but this one seemed ok. It kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next! I never saw the ending coming as to who was trying to kill the couple. I was surprised about the marriage too, but it makes for a perfect romance!

This book was ok, and I hope others enjoy it. I had no problem with the story or the suspense, I could not connect with the characters. We have read the story of Marcy and JB before, high school sweethearts. Both are troubled but have future dreams, and this eventually separates them.

Time passes, and Marcy is in trouble; JB, now in the FBI, shows up to help. I enjoyed reading the suspense part of the story.

Thank you to NetGalley and CCS Writings LLC for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

When JB returns to his hometown and gets in the middle of a bank robbery where his ex wife is being held hostage, he steps up to the plate and protects her, even though they have been apart for many years. Marcy knew who the man was before he turned around, she knows everything about her ex, and is still reeling that he signed the divorce appears over a year ago and she hasn’t seen him in three. When incidents keep piling up and her life is threatened more than once, JB uses his skills and contacts as an FBI agent to get the person who dares to harm his ex.
A good read with suspense, twists and turns, surprises and second chances. I enjoyed this read, flowed nicely and would have given it 5 stars, if he hadn’t had o/w, kept it in his pants no matter the reason, since she stayed true to him, as well as she admitted there has been no one and he kept quiet….not being honest from the get go after all their issues.

Thank you to NetGalley, Xpresso Book Tours and Claudia Shelton for this ARC!

I really enjoyed reading this book! The suspense, action and romance really kept me engaged!
JB and Marcy, divorced (or so it seems!), meet again after 3 years when Marcy gets caught in a bank robbery, but we find that it’s not your typical bank robbery but an attempt on her life. JB, an FBI agent, still very much in love with his ex-wife, slips into action to do whatever it takes to save her, and himself. The suspense of them fleeing from the killer and all the steps they take while re-connecting with each other really made this story for me, kept me reading page after page and I could not put it down! Along the story you have your suspicions on who the killer might be, but I was really surprised with the plot twist at the end! I loved it! It felt like I was in the story shouting at them to be careful at some point! It was great to read also the emotional reason why they separated in the first place and how they could overcome their fears and insecurities to stay together. A must read!

When Marcy Bradley was caught in a bank robbery, she had no idea that her almost ex-husband would be on scene. Jean Barnard Bradley (JB), FBI Agent, arrived in town to handle his father’s estate just in time to see his ex-wife held hostage by a bank robber. As he inserts himself into the law enforcement scene, he is able to take the robber down with minimal injuries although that doesn’t explain why a shot from across the street winged Marcy. His job, or rather the danger inherent in his job, is what drove Marcy away. Her father was an FBI agent killed in the line of duty and she can’t go through that again. When Marcy’s business explodes, literally explodes, JB believes that someone is out to hurt Marcy to get to him, but who and why? He believes he has brought the trouble to her and whoever is after them seems to know each step he takes to protect her. Will he learn who is after them before the killer succeeds. Lively dialog between Marcy & JB and non-stop action as they try to stay alive. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Risk of a Lifetime was my first experience reading this author’s work and I thoroughly enjoyed it–I’ll be reading more from Ms. Shelton in the future. This type of romantic suspense is one of my favorite genres. I loved the whole “are they divorced or aren’t they divorced” concept surrounding their adventure and escape from some crazy characters. I hadn’t realized that this particular book had been released back in 2014 until I had finished reading it. I was actually surprised because it doesn’t read like it was written almost 10 years ago. Good character development and a plot that flowed and moved at a nice pace. I would definitely recommend this read if you’re a fan of romantic suspense. I'm grateful to have been given an opportunity to read an early copy of this book through NetGalley.

This book was well written with good conflict and solid suspense and action that kept me reading well into the night. I love second chance romances, so this was a perfect read for me. I struggled a bit with Marcy as a character, but she had good character growth. I highly recommend this one and can't wait to read more from this author. Huge thanks to Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Honest opinion this wasn't a dov point of view and I tend to enjoy/ gravitate toward books with them way more. With that said I think the book was a good read for me and her writing style was still enjoyable for me it kept my interest throughout the book no problem.
What I liked
The characters fit well with the story
Marcy and JB were the main characters in this story. Jean Bradley aka JB is a hot headed funny overly caring willing to risk it all kind of guy who is always excited for the chase.
Marcy is a good match for the back and fourth between them with her sassy and stubborn personality. In this book she is being put through the ringer with the danger going on around her but has a big secret she can't stop thinking about. I love the teasing and banter between them.
Would I recommend?
Yes it was a good book with a good storyline if you like romance, mystery and crime all together youll love this 😊
