3.5 rounded up
A glorious beach front brand spanking new house is up for sale in Malibu - yours for $50 million. The competition is hot between the five real estate agents with the potential of a $1 million bonus. Andi Hart, Hunter Brooks, Krystal Taylor, Verona King and Myles Goodman roll up their sleeves and prepare to fend each other off. Let’s hope no one gets hurt in the process. Whoops, spoke too soon, there’s a dead body floating in the luxury property pool on the day of the open house. Too much Dom Perignon quaffed maybe? Who is it and why? Let the games begin. The story is told Before and After and from six points of view which is a lot!
This is an entertaining read from start to finish and I like the authors engaging style. The competition between the five agents is something else, each revealing their very sharp teeth of ambition a few other issues besides. Dirty Tricks R Us should be the name of the company rather than it’s rather sedate title!
The setting is atmospheric, you certainly get a good guided tour of La-La Land which saves me the bother of jetting over! The plot has multiple twists and the final one is especially good, lifting the star rating that’s for sure. The pace is pretty quick making it an easy zip through read, just how I like them! I enjoy how we don’t know the identity of the floater until nearly the end which keeps you guessing. Considering the multiple points of view the author does a decent job of defining the characters in some way.
Overall, this is a page turner and a perfect relaxing by the pool read, without the dead body!

I adored this book and as always, Lisa Gray is the QUEEN of mystery, intrigue and suspense. This was so entertaining and each character brought a unique twist to to the plot with their first person POVs. I found myself questioning everyone, their motives and if they did “the thing” (IYKYK). At 260ish pages, it’s short, sweet and totally addictive. This would be the perfect summer beach read, and the way Gray describes the setting, has me desperate to jet ✈️ to LA for a few days 😂 Read this book!

First and foremost, I want to thank Netgalley for an Arc of this book. It's my first ARC from Netgalley and I did enjoy it.
My review: what would you do for a million dollars? It's kind of cliche. You've seen that question on questionaires and on social media but what if your a realtor and you've been asked to sell a fifty million dollar home and get a commission of a million. Yea. It hits home. But it's a serious question. What Would You Do with a million dollars???
I found the book to be entertaining and interesting. I couldn't relate to any of the characters and I personally couldn't like any character either. My biggest complaint and why I have it a four out of five was because of the point of views from SIX people. That's a bit much. It made the book complicated, confusing and bit hard to retain all the information. All in all though, I found the book to be unique. I've not seen another book that's a murder mystery with real estate agents. It was a nice spin. It wasn't suspensful or thrilling. It did keep you entertained though and kept my attention. I did not find anything predictable because I couldn't even figure out who killed who. I really liked the ending although I think some people didn't. I found the ending like a recap but with new characters which means...new secrets. I liked it. It too was a nice spin.
I gave this a 4/5 just because of all the povs but I found the book to be enticing and entertaining. I really liked the spin on the murder mystery.
I would recommend reading.

This was great. Fast paced, lots of POVs, plenty of potential suspects with shady motives. All the ingredients for a great thriller and Lisa Gray delivers.
The story follows a group of real estate agents who are given the assignment of landing a buyer for a $50 million dollar property which would net them a million in commission. How far will they go to land a deal?
I read this book in one sitting because it was juicy, twisted, with perfectly defined characters. Every POV was distinct it was never hard to figure out which timeline the character was in and even with all the dark secrets I never guessed the murderer. Loved it!

I absolutely love Lisa Gray. Adore her Jessica Shaw series and this standalone does not disappoint. Set in th LA real estate world, the main character Andi is running from a previous life which catches up with her in LA. Set around the owners and and the staff of Saint real estate the reader gets a glimpse into the lives and problems of all the the staff and their glitzy rich clients and the lengths they'll go to for a 1 million dollar sale!

This book was so good! Couldn’t put it down! Definitely kept me interested the whole time. 5 stars !

I know it’s only early in 2023, but I think this book is going to turn out to be one of the best books I’ve read all year. I thoroughly enjoyed it, a real little murder mystery. It was so easy to read and flowed really well. Really, really fantastic,

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. I devoured it in less than a day. The prologue of the book opens with a murder at a prestigious house on Malibu Beach Drive, and the rest of the book goes back and forth between timeliness before and after the murder, and between the POVs of all the real estate agents that could benefit from the sale of the house. We also get the POV of the detective investigating the murder.
All of the character back stories added the perfect amount of drama and suspicion. We aren't even sure who the murder victim is until the characters and story have been established and you just have to find out more. I also loved how the author worked in the title of the book (a common phrase) throughout the story. The twists and big reveal were both unexpected, and the epilogue kinda leaves you thinking a similar situation could happen again (or at the very least, more backstabbing/vindictiveness between the agents).
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Highly recommend!!

How far would you go for a million dollars? That is the question faced by five Hollywood real estate agents when their boss tasks them with finding a buyer for a glitzy Malibu beach house.
Each agent not only wants—but needs—the money, desperately. The competition grows ruthless as secrets come to light and old grudges take on new passion.
The race to land a buyer is thrown into chaos when a corpse is found at the open house—and the dream home becomes a nightmarish crime scene. Is the contest reaching a deadly new level, or is there something more sinister at work in the opulent world of LA real estate?
This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believable.
Great suspense and found myself second guessing every thought I had continuously.
Can't wait to read what the author brings out next.
Recommend reading.
I was provided an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher. This is my own honest voluntary review.

I enjoyed the writing style of Lisa Gray! This was my first book by her and I enjoyed the pacing of the plot. I would give "To Die For" a solid 3.5 out of 5 (rounded up to 4). I found the ending to be a little predictable but felt there were a couple twists and turns throughout that I did not see coming. There were a lot of characters/plot lines to keep track of in a relatively short book so I wish there were less characters/the book was longer. I did not feel strongly for the main character but this could be because of the number of other stories to keep track of. I would definitely rad more by Lisa Gray!

Fifty Million Dollar Listing! That’s the price for a beachfront Malibu home that has the agents at Saint Realty catapulted into competitive gear for the one million dollar commission. When a dead body is found floating in the pool during the broker open house, the crime scene unleashes the worst in each of the cutthroat agents as the detectives try to identify the corpse and the killer.
Told in a dual timeline of before and after the body is found and in alternating voices of each real estate agent and the lead detective, Lisa Gray once again nails a fast paced suspense full of the chills, thrills, twists and turns found in her previous books. Great descriptions of the Los Angeles landscape and the wealth and greed that lives within the City of Angels.
Thank you Net Galley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

To Die For, Lisa Gray’s latest thriller is a captivating story of murder and mayhem in the world of luxury real estate. Set in the glamorous backdrop of Malibu, California, the novel follows agent Andi Hart as she takes on a team challenge to find a buyer for a high-end beach house with a million-dollar commission at stake. But when their competition takes a deadly turn, and someone is found dead at the open house, it quickly becomes apparent that all five agents will do anything to secure the prize money – even if it means murder.
The novel is filled with intrigue and suspense from start to finish. The reader is taken along for an edge-of-your-seat journey as readers learn about each character’s secrets – from financial woes to personal struggles – which only add depth and complexity to this riveting story. Gray does a wonderful job of showing how even those who seem like they have everything can still be desperate for more, which makes the story all the more thrilling.
Lisa Gray’s writing style is tight and precise; her dialogue snaps off the page like lightning, while her descriptions are vivid and immersive. Her characters are believable yet complex – enjoying them even when they don’t always make morally sound decisions. Gray also expertly weaves themes of ambition, greed, jealousy, and desperation throughout To Die For, which adds an extra layer of sophistication and realism to this already gripping tale.
To Die For is guaranteed to keep readers hooked right up until its shocking conclusion. It is both thrilling and thought-provoking. If you’re looking for an unpredictable whodunnit packed full of secrets that will keep you guessing until the very end, then To Die For should definitely be your next read!

This one had me reading until the early hours! It's a really quick and easy read. It's not too deep but with plenty quirky characters who all have shady pasts and secrets they'll do anything to protect. It kept me guessing til the end and I loved every second of this one

Twists and turns throughout and the characters were well developed. I truly enjoyed reading this book

I had a difficult time reading this book. It was too chaotic for me, too many POV's and it made it hard to follow.

I loved this one! It gave me 'Selling Sunset' vibes - realtors trying to sell multi-million dollar homes in LA and doing whatever they can to get that commission. A fun cat/mouse story that kept me guessing. Definitely not a thriller but I would categorize this more as a fiction read with suspense.

Perhaps surprisingly, this is the first book I've read from Lisa Gray. But I enjoyed it. So, I will put her on the list of authors I need to read more.
Andi Hart is an elite real estate agent in a world of luxury, where success is a matter of kill or be killed. Recently, her boss has issued a challenge: the team must find a buyer for a high-end Malibu beach house, and the prize is a whopping $1 million commission. For Andi, this is a chance to start anew, but her colleagues also have their eyes on the prize—each with a secret they hope to conceal. As the competition intensifies and tensions rise, the dream home turns into a living nightmare when a body is discovered at the open house.
Is the contest spiralling out of control, or is there something more sinister at play? Enter the engaging world of Andi Hart, where the stakes are high...
I'm not usually someone who is bothered about flash cars, big houses and expensive champagne - especially not in dramas, films or books. But, for some reason, this book captured my attention.
This book is written using an endless amount of POVs. To start with, it felt like a bit too much, and I thought this might be the downfall of the book. But I was wrong. The set-up kept me engaged & wanting to know more about each character and their secrets.
I did feel my attention dwindling slightly at around the 60% mark. But I couldn’t put my finger on exactly why. Perhaps I felt like we had all the information we needed and could crack on with the twists that would surely come.
I originally took .5 off my star rating for my midway attention dwindle (ooo is that a new reading state?). However, I have added .25 for the ending.
It's a good book with a decent premise, storyline and set of characters. I enjoyed it & would recommend it. My rating is 3.75, rounded up to 4.

Another excellent novel by Lisa Gray starring a real estate agent Andi Hart and her colleagues commissioned to sell a million dollar property when a body is discovered in the pool of a property for sale. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good thriller mystery that keeps the reader guessing to the final pages.

Thanks Netgalley! I really liked this book. It was easy to read but also twisty. How much would you do for $1 million dollars? 5 agents are against each other to sell a $50 million home and gain $1 million is commission. The author writes this from all perspectives of the selling agents - each with their own person things going on, which I loved. I would highly recommend.

Something different for me but I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the characters and the setting. Many characters and different point of view kept the story interesting. I did not expect the twist ant the ending.
