Thank you for letting me read and review this book. As a soon to be teacher I love finding books like this that can show the little boys and girls all of these amazing personalities. I’ve seen a few books like this one and the music theme really got me, since I’m a big fan of music. I will absolutely recommend this book.

This was so much fun to read withy teen nephew who loves music so much. We found it informative as well.

Music is a universal language, and this book provides diverse, high profile examples of how women entered and influenced music. Each entry is short enough to use as a quick read-aloud for a class or to hold the attention of reluctant readers. I absolutely will recommend this as a middle school classroom library selection.

This is a great series and is always full of fascinating facts about remarkable women. In this book there is a great mix of both well known and less familiar music artists, just enough information to get a good feel for them and take curious minds forward, alongside the usual vibrant artwork. I have already looked up the work of several I didn't know!

I think this is one of my favorites of the Rebel Girls series. It starts with an introduction by Joan Jett, who I love. It features 25 women in the music industry from all over the world. (Obviously not every country!) And it's illustrated by various women artists.

Rebel Girls Rock is a solid entry to the Rebel Girls series, offering up twenty-five different stories about women in music. It highlights a variety of women in music (ranging from producers and executives to singers, rappers, and instrumentalists) from a variety of different places around the world (although with a focus on the US). This is actually one where I wish that it had been one of the full length books to include more women from a bigger variety of countries and representing a bigger variety of genres, as well as representing more women who aren't quite as famous as many of the women here are. Still though, it's a solid collection, a quick read, and the art is great as always. It's definitely worth reading for kids interested in music!

Continuing on the campaign of having a Rebel Girl book about any subject you can think of, this covers music – from deaf modern classical percussionists I've been fortunate enough to meet, to Joni Mitchell, and from Lebanese rockers all the way down to the dregs (ooh, hello, Lizzo – wouldn't have seen you there were it not for your abject attention seeking). I'm a bit miffed that riot grrl is still a thing, for it was certainly never enjoyable the first time round, but on the whole this does just what the franchise has always done, and in covering Tuaregs, Tejano and Thais alike, is ridiculously wide-ranging and very successful. Joan Jett offers a brilliant introduction, too – and obviously the point of it all was that that was in itself a surprise to me.

A perfect book about female who have made a name for themselves in the music industry, this also encourages young children to pursue what they dream. This is a perfect collection of rel life stories and inspiration

From Canada to Niger, the US to New Zealand and Lebanon to the UK this is a great selection of women representing all areas of the globe. With instrumentalists, singers, songwriters and producers from all over the world there is a figure to inspire any young music lover. In the familiar Rebel Girls style we read a page about as musical Rebel Girl with a bright illustration accompanying it, here are 25 stories of inspiring women along with super-small biographies (around a sentence each) of many more to give readers a flavour and other people to research. There are also a great range of activities to inspire and encourage young readers to get involved in music in a range of ways.

Music is very important but, like many other things, machism prevents some women from wanting to practice in the music field due to fear or threats (and yes, of course, some have been threatened and harassed).

I liked that at the end of the reading they not only present us with 25 women relate in music, there are two more pages with women who have experienced music in different ways. Thank you very much for not putting the same people that we already know and trying to bring to light women that we could know and love, but again, we need more Latin, African and Asian!

First of all I did not notice until now that the book was written by Joan Jett. Secondly it's amazing like all Rebel Girls books.

Not only do we explore talented female musicians in all genres, we meet music executives, song writers and producer. It's just a fabulous book to expand your mind and maybe your music taste.

Great short book about some empowering women in the music biz. I loved the diversity of performers, executives, songwriters, and musicians.

“Rebel Girls Rock- 25 Tales of Women in Music” is a beautifully curated collection of stories about diverse women who have made a difference in the music scene.

While I’ve heard of some of the musicians mentioned, I got to learn about many that I never heard of. Like all of the Rebel Girls books, the art was colorful and beautiful. I was very excited to read this and it definitely lived up to my expectations. At the end of the book there is information encouraging young ones to write their own music, with different resources to help out. I’m excited for more future editions of this series. 5 stars. I also reviewed this on goodreads but am unable to link it for some reason.

Loved this book, so did my eight year old daughter. Always so inspiring and great at catching a child's imagination for what is possible in the world. Thank you!

How do you pick 25 Women in Music? Well luckily for us Rebel Girls does another great job. There are some you would expect and some I had never heard of.

Well researched and easy to read like all other Rebel Girls.

Some of these ladies I was familiar with, and some I knew their work without knowing their name, and some were new to me - a lovely mix! I liked the mix of music genres covered by these 25 talented women, as there truly is something for everyone here. Bonus points for including a transgender woman! And an extra star for the shout out to The Linda Lindas in the 'more' section at the end!

I enjoyed this book so much! As a music lover myself and a teacher, this would be a joy to share with students and children. I really enjoyed reading the biographies and the fact that they are kid friendly and choose facts that matter to children. I also like the wide range of musicians and the fact that music business professionals are also included!
