Thank you, Rebel Girls, for the advance reading copy.
It feels so good reading this! Feeling empowered!

It’s great to see most of my favourite women in the music industry here!

The illustrations and the presentation are as perfect as it gets!

Love it.

So, to me it looks like the cover has Joan Jett on it. Maybe it's supposed to be someone else, because Joan Jett is not in the book. In fact very few rock musicians are in the book which is disappointing & even makes the title deceptive. I like a lot of people mentioned like Lizzo & Dolly Parton. Please make one with more rock musicians! The art is nice & the summaries are good. The back has instructions on making music. Overall I would still get this as a physical copy when my daughter is older
I got this as an ARC from NetGalley

Rebel Girls Rock provides bios of 25 rocking women across multiple genres of music. It is highly informative, the accompanying art is beautiful, and it will likely be very inspiring for young girls. Rebel Girls provides another hit biographical collection! I prefer these themed mini iterations more than the broader editions, as they are very approachable, still highly informative, and allow readers to explore specific interests.

Rebel Girls Rock is a cupcake of a book- its vibrant images pull you in, but the middle tastes as good as it looks. Each page provides a brief introduction to the story of one musician with just enough detail to lend reality and become a jumping-off point for learning more. In fact, there are many layers that enrich this text, including different, named illustrators for each bold image, many of whom I looked up immediately to find more of their work.

One of the best parts of this book is the true diversity in the women represented, from many different aspects of the music industry, genres, ages, countries, and marginalized groups represented. It was fun to see musicians that I (and my kid!) recognize between new-to-me artists to explore. I can also see many ways to use this either as a nightly bedtime read-and-song or in a classroom as a launch pad for research or a way to start conversations about determination, admiration, and opportunities.

(I will post on Goodreads once the book is published.)

Always a fan of the Rebel Girls series. This new addition does a fantastic job of introducing readers to women involved in the music industry from around the world. I appreciated that, while there were some very expected names, there were also several that I wasn’t expecting, which meant I learned new things too.

I really adore these books and to see there is one about musicians is even better! I love the inclusion or current and older artists. Also a trans rock musician! Really enjoyed this.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I am a Music Educator and can't wait to purchase and share with my students.
I really enjoyed that it includes a Music Executive & Music Producer along with the musicians.

The QR codes/ app gives a fun bonus for the reader.

Kids & adults will enjoy it Rebel Girls Rock

Thank you NetGalley & publisher for the eARC.

An interesting selection of women in the music industry. Wide ranging from musicians to those "behind the scenes'. Not sure how young readers will relate to this collection.

From now till the end of school I will be playing my new playlist "Rebel Girls Rock" and it's all because of another banger of a book from Rebel Girls. I am always blown away by the diversity of characters included in these types of books. Of all the characters, I only recognized a handful. The rest of them were first time introductions, and they were wonderful!
Young readers in my school write a report on a musician of their choice, I can see this book being very popular next year.

I didn’t like the illustrations, but I like the idea of this book - inspire girls around the world.

Thanks NetGalley and the publisher!

This addition to the Rebel Girls series focuses on women in music (with an introduction by none other than Joan Jett).

The now familiar format includes a page about each woman (or girl - one is just twelve years old) accompanied by a full page colour artwork of her. The pictures are gorgeous and colourful, and the inclusion of QR codes a good idea.

There's an admirably diverse selection of women in music, some I'd heard of and plenty I hadn't. One can always argue about who should or shouldn't be included (some more get a mention at the end) but it's clearly not intended as a comprehensive collection, but more of a sampling across globe and genre.

I liked the quotes that accompany each picture too, particularly this from Dolly Parton: "Find out who you are, and do it on purpose.". Can't argue with that.

I would like to thank Rebel Girls for providing me with an ARC.

This was another fantastic addition to the series. I loved the array of women that was shown in the book as well as the additional information in the back. I also loved the array of music genres that were discussed in the book alongside the women who influenced the genres.

Rebel Girls Rock is another inspiring book in the Rebel Girls franchise. As a mother to 3 lovely young ladies, my family has been reading these books from the beginning. Our favorite was the Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls and was enjoyed each night before bed. These stories high light strong, successful women and their accomplishments throughout history and modern times.

In Rebel Girls Rock the book focuses and women in the music industry. It spans a multi genre of musicians and singers as well as producers, conductors. These women come from all over the world, many having survived many challenges as young ladies. As I read each artist I would Google their work and take a listen. I was delighted to find myself exposed to some new sounds I'll be happy to revisit over and over.

Each story is paired with a fabulous artist's portrait of the heroes. These prints are all done by female artists, each with a different artists, so many more women get to celebrate their talents within these pages. Another wonderful feature is the QR codes that accompany some of the stories that give you further content through the free Rebel Girls app. This app requires a monthly/yearly subscription but is full of so much wonderful content. The QR codes within the book did un-clock these specific stories for free! I explored the app and read reviews and think it is such a fantastic learning resource. With a yearly subscriptions the app is only $5 a month.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Each story is a brief summary. To get more out of this I would recommend the app or take time to search through Google for more. I give this story 4 stars for its beautiful artwork and diversity of featured artists. What could make this even better is if the app could be more affordable to all parents. Many of the artists featured in this book grew up in conditions that would have prohibited them from being able to afford this extra content. It would be great to see some type of a scholarship or discount program offered to underprivileged young women. Everyone should have a chance to hear these wonderful stories.

I received and ARC from NetGalley and I'm choosing to leave my review here voluntarily.

Rebel Girls who love music, this one is for you. Here is an entertaining collection of stories about women in music. Some of those featured are Ell Fitzgerald, Joni Mitchell, Queen Latifa and Lizzo. There were other musicians with whom I was not familiar; a few of them are Evelyn Glennis, Laura Jane Grace and Nandi Bushell. All in all, twenty-five women to get to know. Music is defined in this title to include singers, those who play instruments and even those who work in the music industry.

The book’s introduction is written by Joan Jett. Following this are two page spreads for each woman; these include interesting biographical information and an illustration. The published book will also have q codes for those who want to learn more.

All in all, this is a wide ranging and well produced title. It joins many other Rebel Girls books that offer kids the chance to dream big.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Rebel Girls for this title. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was another great read in the Rebel Girl series. Thus book tells about various women who’ve made it big in the music industry and let nothing stop them.

This edition of the series “Rebel Girls” highlights musical artists that span various genres and decades. Young readers will recognize many singers like Lizzo and Olivia Rodrigo. But there are also many singers from past decades that they will be introduced to, which is very exciting! As with their other books in the series, different illustrators are on each page and readers get information about the life of the musician/group as well as what music they are famous for.

Rebel Girls did it again. Another absolutely breathtakingly awesome book about women and their achievements, about their strength, resilience, smartness, and talents, this time those are women in music. A tough field for everyone, but extremely tough for women who just seem to be judged extra harshly for everything they do and don’t do, for everything they are and aren’t.
There are women of various ages, various backgrounds, and various genres, from all over the world. All of them are presented in a way that makes a young reader see that girls are great, girls can do anything, girls can be anything, and girls can achieve anything. Love!
In our household, this book seems to have opened doors far and wide to explore new music by those fab ladies in this book.
As a bonus, the drawings are exquisite, as always. Super, super beautiful.

Another great addition to this collection of Rebels books!
I didn’t know those newer editions with only 25 women but it was a very interesting read nonetheless! It took me a while to read because I kept going on YouTube to see those artists’ performances after learning about their lives! ^^

Some are obviously very famous but some are not, either because of their young age or their country. I’m glad I got to discovered new talented women and my son got excited when he saw me read a Rebel book!

I love that this one came with some QR codes to add more details to some biographies and, as always the artworks are great!
