Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the eARC. I'm leaving this review voluntarily and all opinions are my own.
This was really fun! I'm excited for the next books about the other elven princes! I even adored reading the author's note.
This novella was also a very quick and easy read. It only took me a few hours.
It's basically a Beauty and the Beast retelling, with several elements from other well-known fairytales: Rumpelstiltskin, Snow White, and more! I love how unapologetic the author was in incorporating a magic system that is just as whimsical as you'd expect from a fairytale.
One star off, only because the love story was not convincing, even for a fairytale. I can get over the fact they have to fall in love within a week, but their love story felt more like a lust story.
Overall:
Pretty good if you love the whimsy of fairytales but crave something spicy.

Mountain Made of Glass is an enchanting read that will transport you to a world of magic, adventure, and romance. With rich world-building, engaging characters, and captivating plot, this novel is a must-read for fans of fantasy and romance alike. Highly recommended.

Sure, here's a spoiler-free review of "Mountains Made of Glass" by Scarlett St. Clair:
"Mountains Made of Glass" is a beautifully crafted novel that combines Greek mythology with modern romance. The story follows Persephone, the daughter of the goddess Demeter, as she navigates the challenges of her immortal life and her growing attraction to Hades, the king of the underworld.
St. Clair's writing style is engaging and descriptive, drawing the reader into the world of Greek mythology and making it come alive. The characters are well-developed, with Persephone being a particularly strong and relatable protagonist.
The plot is well-paced, with plenty of action and unexpected twists that keep the reader hooked. While it follows the familiar mythological story of Persephone's abduction and her subsequent relationship with Hades, St. Clair adds her own unique spin to the tale.
Overall, "Mountains Made of Glass" is a must-read for fans of Greek mythology and romance. It's a captivating and emotional journey that will leave readers eager for more.

It’s hard to fully rate romance books that are short like this, because, on one hand, the entire relationship happens way too quickly, but, on the other, that’s exactly what I knew I was getting into. Overall, I think it’s what it said on the tin and a good time either way.

I'm a new fan of Scarlett St. Clair my first read of hers was King of Battle and Blood which I enjoyed I have the sequel to it but I'm kinda up to my neck in Netgalley arcs that I have to catch up on so when I found stumbled upon this one I wad excited because it evolved the fae and it was a fairytale retelling. It also gave me a chance to read some of her other work. I think the best part of this was the artwork I wasn't expecting that at all. I loved every single piece honestly. They were drawn really well and was a really cool touch to the book. I almost wished there was more in it. I really like this authors writing and the pacing was alright. I did find the pacing for her loving him kinda weird though. It was just hinting that maybe she did for the majority of the story but then like close to the end she's all of a sudden madly in love and can't live without him. I did find that kinda odd and rushed I guess. I didn't find the smutt cheesy or over the top. I personally love enemies to lovers so this one didn't disappoint. Other than what I mentioned earlier getting to see their relationship progress and change as they got to know each other was fun. I really enjoyed that the characters weren't perfect. I honestly think they work really well together. I liked that it wasn't just an all out lovey dovey story I liked that it has some speckles of murder in it so it also has a horror touch as well. The magic system wasn't really explained at all and everyone just kinda accepted it strangely enough. I mean it didn't really take away from the story or confuse you it just kind made sense. To be honest it would have been cool to delve into the other kingdoms and brothers. Maybe she'll make future books about them that would be super cool to see. I really enjoyed this one and can see myself liking others if she wrote any.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for my copy to read and review.

i have so many mixed feelings with this book. on one hand the world building was very interesting because of all the fairy tale inspiration and references, same for the plot, it reminded me of beauty and the beast but without being copy paste. the mirror was obviously inspired by snow-white and it also featured elements of irish and celtic folklore. now what i struggled with was the romance, they barely knew each other aside from banging and the whole name riddle had me rolling my eyes because of how similar it was to ACOTAR. except it was too short which didn’t leave enough time to fully develop their romance. the smut was good, i have to give it that. i’ll read the other books because this series has some potential and i rated this one a 2.75⭐️

Holy fucking shit …. That is all.
This book had me feeling some type of way and I don’t want it to be over! 😭
When I read the dedication - “for the fuck of it” - I just knew this was gonna be so good.
Immediately it’s dark, harsh, devious, and full-on fairytale vibes. I loved both of the main characters. Their situationship is seriously hot! SEXY 🥵❤️🔥🔥
I also adore the illustrations! I wish more fantasy books had them.
This is my favorite book by this author to date. Nothing is ever going to compare to my experience with this story. I devoured it all in one day. Even though I wanted to savor it, I just couldn't help myself.
I can’t tell you how freaking happy I was when she confirmed that there will be more books in this series!!!!!!!! Idk how I’m gonna wait another year for it.
If you like romantasy, you HAVE to read this one! I'm obsessed with everything about this story.

This book was perfection! Going in I thought- fantastic a fairytale retelling, but what I got was so much more as it read like a dark delicious fairytale. Honestly I need more exactly like this book and when I heard there would be another 6 in the series I was over the moon ecstatic!
Our heroine kills something she is not meant to and gets sent to be a prisoner of the Prince Of Thorns where she has 7 days to learn the prince’s true name or she will be his prisoner forever. What she doesn’t know is that the prince needs someone to fall in love with him and learn his true name or he will die.
The hero is dark and twisted and has never been nice to anyone in his life, the heroine is snarky and completely alone in the world. I had no idea how these two would learn to be what the other needed but they did and somehow it just worked. This fairytale is dark and steamy and just oh so good! I cannot wait for more!

Fairytale retellings are my FAVORITE things ever. So often, I’m willing to give more lenience to them and put critical thinking aside just to enjoy the ride. Unfortunately, I could not do that here.
Mountains Made of Glass is a rather short read at only 219 pages, and while that made for an easy to binge story, it had to make some choices in what to include and exclude.
If you like insta love and lots of spice, this could totally be for you. I just need more substance to my stories.

This was a very spicy retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and it did not disappoint. Scarlett St Clair always delivers!
This enemies to lovers romance features a strong lead, and it was surprisingly gritty. 💯 recommend if you like steamy fantasy romance.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

This was a really well developed short story! It is a darker fairytale, akin to the Grimm Brothers, and the love story is reminiscent of Beauty and the Beast. Our main character is Gesela, who is an outcast in her village. When she kills a toad who turns out to be an Elven Prince, she is forced to become a prisoner of the Elven Prince's cursed brother. It is a dual POV with both main characters. Even though the story was short but it felt well flushed out. I did still have troubles connecting with the main characters during our short time with them. I loved the mix of the fairy tales that the story is inspired by. All in all I think this is a great novella!

I find it so hard to get into short fantasy books. I feel like I either loose character development or world development when it happens. Overall not a bad book, just wanted more!!

This was a cool little diverting story to dive into! The world of this fairy definitely evoked the atmosphere of darker and harsher fairy tales of recent years, but also has the bearing of shorter tales you might find in Grimm Brothers tales. Which I know from the author's note is something that she was trying to aim for, so it was spot on.
I think it got right into business and we are introduced to what our heroine needs to do. We meet our prince and his scary prison castle full of dangers of all kinds. Pretty standard. There is a lot to like about it and I can see many romance readers enjoying it. The prince is mysterious and hot, bossy yet compelling. The heroine is feisty and refuses to fall under his spell while still wanting to understand the situation she has been thrust into.
The biggest issue for me is that I didn't track their love story. Their banter was great, but they are both saying "I hate you" in every other second and then soon enough tearing each others clothes off. I don't see how we made it to the HEA the way we did.
It was also written in a very confusing style for my personal taste. I believe this is also a nod to the fairy tales that inspired it, as that quality is there.... but still. It was awkward in a lot of places and I felt rushed.
I don't know if I can help myself from trying another in the series though, so I guess job well done.

3.5 stars

The good: I enjoyed this book, finished it in one sitting. It was entertaining and it was good enough that I would read the next one in the series. I think people that enjoy much spice, not as much plot will really really enjoy this and I know some people that I will definitely be recommending this book to. The author’s writing is blunt and clear and easy to understand. It was very obvious what fairytale the storyline was following.
The not so good: I felt there was a real lack of character development and relationship building. The romance wasn’t really believable for me, it didn’t seem like the couple really built any sort of connection before they were suddenly in love after 5 days after hating each other. The MC’s love interest was less of a lovable, misunderstood beast and more just an asshole, which was part of what made the whole thing fall a little flat for me.

I absolutely adored this book and I'm so glad to have been accepted for this ARC!
The world building was so amazing and the writing was perfect... Can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This was one of the best fantasy stories I have ever read, I fell in love with the world and characters and I can't wait for me. I was enamoured with every part of this, the unique storyline and beautiful descriptions with a mix of spice and some heart-warming cuteness too yet this was also a darker fairy-tale which just added to how much I loved tis because it's not your typical fantasy. Also the drawings throughout are so amazing and detailed, I also fell in love with them. This is my first book by this author but it definitely won't be my last because I can't say a bad word about this.

Thanks to Bloom Books, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.
I really enjoyed this fantasy romance featuring Gesela, a young woman who has never been accepted by her village and an Elven Prince who is cursed. I don't want to give too much away by going into detail about the storyline but I highly recommend reading the Author's Note in the end which explains what fairytales and folklore stories were drawn from to build this interesting world.
I loved the chemistry between Gesela and Casamir - this author always, always gets the spicy stuff right while keeping you compelled by the story.
I can't wait to read more of this series.

I usually adore everything SSC. This one was not on my favourites list though. It did feel very different to normal writing's of Scarlett's - and I can't quite put my finger on what it is that makes me feel like I couldn't connect with this one enough to enjoy it.
Our FMC Gesela lives in the village of Elk, where all of the villagers are falling prey to curse after curse. Told that it would end the curse, it becomes Gesela's turn to kill the toad in the well. The following night she is confronted by five fairy princes. She killed the sixth brother who she thought a toad. As a punishment she is sent to the seventh brother, who is the worst of all, to live out her punishment time with him. Mountains Made of Glass was a super fast, interesting read and would be perfect for lovers of;
- forced proximity
- captivity
- lots of spice
- dual POVs.

Mountains Made of Glass is very much a dark fairytale retelling. If I’m not completely mistaken it was a remake of beauty and the beast. The first part was a little heavy but from then on is was interesting. I LOVED the fact that it had beautiful drawing of various things all throughout the book and now I need every romance book to have them.

I absolutely ADORED this story. I’m glad to see it listed as Book 1 because St. Clair has managed to create a world where fairytales collide. A great mix of Beauty and the Beast, Rumplestiltskin, Princess and the Frog, and more. My only wish is that it had been a little longer. It was over too soon!
