I'm a fan of Scarlett and I don't think she could ever write something I didn't love, but this was just...next level. You can really tell just how much FUN she had writing this, and it came through. This is a longer novella, but it still felt too short. I wanted to stay inside this world with these characters forever! The character development was fantasticly done, adding nuance and layers to each character we met, no matter how briefly. The retelling aspect, mixed with Celtic folklore/mythology creatures was really cool and helped deepen the world building. Even in a shorter book, the world building was fantastic and pulled you in from the first line. Highly recommend, and can't wait for the next one!

Ok I have been a fan of Scarlett's for a long time, a really long time. So when I say that this maybe my favorite thing she's ever written I don't say that lightly. You can see in her writing of this book how much fun she had and how much she enjoyed these characters. We have our FMC Gesela who is feisty, fiery, and so fierce I loved her immediately. She was not going to just lay down and take things from others, whether they were human or fae. Enter Casamir our MMC...upon starting this book I realized that I probably need therapy even more than I originally thought. lol When Gesela was calling him The Beast I was....a little too into that. It's fine, I'm fine. Also I no longer want to be called a normal pet name. I want to be called *vicious creature* or something like that iykyk. While I loved him from the first page I also completely understood Gesela wanting to hurt him, he was a very hot, dumb elven prince. To be fair he was more than a little feral and very morally grey which is probably why I love him so much. The amount of world building and little fairytale bits in this book for how few pages it was is absolutely mind blowing. While I would have read a 700 pg book about Casamir&Gesela, Scarlett had the perfect amount of world building, spice (such amazing spice), and fairytale aspects in this 200 page book. I honestly don't know how she does it. If you are on the fence about this book, do yourself a favor and buy it. You will regret not reading this book as soon as it comes out I promise you. I am feral for this book and these characters and I cannot wait for more from this series!

Okay - Everyone knows I am a huge fan of Scarlett's worlds. THIS....THISSSSS.... This right here is something everyone needs to read. THIS is what will get more readers to dive into the author's work.

This was magical. The world was so interesting and dark that I found myself wanting MORE. I cannot believe Scarlett created this darker version of a fairytale retelling. This was filled with so much darkness and gave a haunting atmosphere.

Casimir is another male character Scarlett's readers are going to fawn over. The characters and atmosphere that the author created is what made this so amazing, but not only that but the TWISTS. The fact that these are fairytales and Scarlett put this twist on them... IT'S DIVINE. READ IT.

As someone who is a newbie to Scarlett St. Clair, I was a bit nervous but I had nothing to worry about. Mountains Made of Glass is the first book in her new Fairytale Retelling series with each book following a group of brothers who each rule a kingdom and have a romance.

This first book is Casamir’s book. Casamir rules over the Kingdom of Thorns and he takes Gesela who murdered his brother for her reasons. She starts as his prisoner, but these two can’t keep their eyes, bodies, or feelings away from each other. From the moment Casamir and Gesela meet, the tension is delicious and their chemistry is undeniable.

With Mountains Made of Glass being a novella, I don’t want to delve too much into the plot, but I will say that this feels like the start of something exciting. There’s even an index in the front that features all the different creatures we meet and the names of all the brothers and the different kingdoms they rule over.

Even though I’m not a huge fantasy romance reader, I feel like this novella did an excellent job of setting up this world while also showcasing the romance. I was surprised at how many steamy moments we got between Casamir and Gesela but I wasn’t mad about it. If anything, I feel like it helped to solidify their connection.

Frankly, I don’t have anything to complain about with Mountains Made of Glass. If you’re new to Scarlett St. Clair, this is a great introduction to her writing and what to expect from a longer offering. If you’re a fan of Scarlett St Clair, then I’m sure I don’t have to convince you.

All in all, Scarlett St. Clair pitched it in the best way by saying: “They are a great mix of fantasy and horror…they are also ridiculous and romantic.” There are no better words to describe this first book than that. I just know I’ll be diving into the next novella when it comes out.

I wasn't really sure what to expect with this title. I really love Scarlett St. Clair's books but when I first hear about this one she was a little vague on details. Overall I enjoyed the story. It's called a fairytale retelling but it's kind of a mash up of a bunch of different stories. There's nothing wrong with that, I actually think it works pretty well here. The writing quality is still on point and I liked the characters. I am definitely looking forward to a book 2.
