I mean, I'll always love creepy, spooky fae. This was a little too short for me to be super invested in the characters, but I'm interested in seeing where it'll go in the future.

Big thanks to Scarlett St. Clair and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for a review.

I'm a sucker for dark fairy tales and this one hit the spot.

I love the twisted plots taking over the old as time stories we've all read a million times. Beauty and the beast meets Cinderella and becomes the magic that SSC pulls together time and time again.

Loved this fantasy short story. It has the dark fantasy aspects of death and loss and also the happiness of finding a fated love.
The story is such a fun and quick read especially after heavy dark fantasy books. Scarlett always does amazing. I loved this so much I wish it was longer.
Read this if you love dark fairytale retellings.

Scarlett St. Clair can do no wrong in my opinion. Though a novella, it had everything I wanted from her. The world building was great, the twist on Grimm fairytales was delightful and spooky, it had romance, suspense, and kept me on my toes. Gesela is feisty and Casamir is dark and dangerous and delicious. Enemies to lovers, forced proximity, captive, this barely 300 page book hit all the checkmarks.

A great fairy tale retelling with Scarlett St. Clair's signature style and steam. I can't wait to read the rest of this series. If you like fairy tale retellings and morally grey heroes, this is for you!

I received an eARC for my honest opinion.

If you like darker fantasy, retellings, romance, amazing vivid details, great characters, and a short read. I would highly recommend this book to you.

This is the first book of the newest fantasy romance series, and it was just as I thought it would be, freakin amazing. I really enjoyed that this book had inspiration from other fairy tales/lore. However, the main one would be Beauty and the Beast. This book is shorter, but it did not lack in worldbuilding, the well-developed characters. I thought the dual POV was done great, I didn’t have a hard time understanding the transition between the characters. I really enjoyed the scenes where Casimir was trying to figure out how to make a female love him. He is such a beast but deep down you can see the sweetheart in him and at least he is a sexy one as well. Gesela is feisty, and fierce. She doesn’t back down and isn’t scared to ask the hard questions that most wouldn’t. I didn’t mind at all the steamy scenes in the book, and I thought they were well written, but I wouldn’t expect anything less from the author. I loved the dark and twisted version of this fairy tale, and the author nailed it. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

I want to thank NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the opportunity to review this book.

The book is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and the closest comparison I have to it is ACOTAR. Our main character, Ela, has absolutely no one in the world. Her sister and her parents are dead, and the village seems to fear her family and the woods surrounding them. A curse claims a villager every year, egged on, of course, by the more powerful sacrificing the weaker ones, and this year it's Ela's turn.

Instead of kissing the frog (I loved the inclusion of that tale), Ela has to kill it, which she does. But the frog has six elven brothers ready to avenge him, with five of them appearing to send her to their brother, the beast of the story, as a slave. Ela can either be free in a week if she guesses his name right, or he'll forget his name and fade into oblivion, but she doesn't know that for the most part.

We know how the story will go; this is a fairy tale retelling; there is a happy ending. But there is a reason why we read and don't use those stupid book summary apps; we enjoy the path the author takes to get us there. St Clair builds a good worldbuilder! She grounds it things we've heard about and then takes it away from there to something magical and horrible at the same time. Wolf is the only decent thing there; everyone wants something and is constantly bartering to get it, whether that is the selkie or even the prince. Nothing is gentle and pretty; beautiful things are cruel, as is expected of them.

The fairy tale elements keep coming in with a sentient magic mirror and the beast's acquaintances that remind him that the way to win a woman's heart is probably not just through cruelty; you need to be gentle and have tact and patience and a bunch of other things. In that regard, I also felt for the prince and his role in this fairytale; a prisoner trying to return to a princess he does not love.

Fundamentally, Mountains Made of Glass is the adult version of Beauty and the Beast and is done well enough for me to understand this author's hype. I thoroughly recommend it, and I'm leaving it four stars out of five, and I will try to start A Touch of Darkness soon!

A quick read and I always love retellings. Perfect for fans of romantasy and an easy read in one sitting.

I went into this book with the wrong expectations, so it really is my fault that I didn't like it much. The only other book I've read by Scarlett St. Clair is King of Battle and Blood, and I really enjoyed. I've been looking for a book that's similar/gives me the same experience as I had reading KOBAB, and I haven't had any luck. I thought because this is the same author this book would at least have the same writing style or some similar attributes, but that's really not true. However, I did really enjoy the spooky atmosphere of the book and the fact that it's a fairytale retelling, as well as the fact that this was a shorter read. Overall, I thought this was alright, but probably wouldn't have picked it up if I knew about it what I know now.

It wasn't what I thought it was going to be, but it was a quick weekend read. There were many ways the story could have been stretched into a series and I was often unsure about the impetus behind some of the comments and decisions, but it was an okay read! My fantasy fans will gobble it up for sure!

Thank you Bloom Books for the NetGalley Widget.

When I received an email with a widget from Bloom Books, I was both intrigued and unsure of this fairy tale retelling novella but I decided to give it a try.

Was it the best piece of writing? No. Was I enchanted? Absolutely. Mountains Made of Glass was a little dark and a little ridiculous and a whole lot smutty. In fact, I can’t even give close door revisions because if they were not in the act, they were mostly thinking about it. Sorry, clean door fans. This is not for you.

Mountains Made of Glass is a few fairy tales remade into one. I recommend reading the Author’s Note for all the references.

If I am being honest, I kinda can’t wait to read the next. Also, the author dedication is the best.

This was such a fun and steamy fairy tale retelling, but instead of just being a retelling of one specific tale, Scarlette St.Clair pulls from a few different sources to create a well rounded and adult fairy tale. The book is only 219 pages long, but I think it worked really well as a novella because the fast pacing kept me glued to the story. I loved the classic elements of traditional fairy tales that were thrown in like how Gisela had tasks she needed to complete, riddles to figure out, and a cursed Prince to save. I would recommend this to anyone that loves fairytales and very steamy romances.

God I wish this was longer. Dark fairy tale retellings are so good when they are done right. Scarlett St. Clair does an awesome job with this reimagining and I just wish there was MORE. Cant wait to see what else comes of this series. Amazing plot. Fantastic writing.

Let me start with a trigger warning, this one does have some animal and reptile death, I had been warned beforehand by a fellow reviewer and I'm glad I was.

I will say I've become a fan of fairytale retellings lately and I was ecstatic to see this book show up.

Now on to the good stuff, the steamy stuff, the stuff that makes me want to read anything and everything that Scarlett St. Clair writes.

This book is exactly what I think of when I think of adult fairy tales, there are princes, witches, fairies, and magic and it is in my mind perfection.

While this is a shorter book it's packed full of fantastic worldbuilding, complex characters, a dual point of view that lends to the overall story, and an enemies-to-lovers storyline that will fog up any magic mirrors in the vicinity.

With moments that made me think of so many of my favorite fairy tales, this one had me glued to it from the first page.

One last thing on this one, the cover art is absolutely stunning and there is a map inside that helps so much with the locations in the book.

Thank you to Sourcebooks and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this E-Book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

•Always love a good Scarlett St. Clair romantasy book. This is my third series of hers to start and I enjoyed it a lot. I read it in one day so it had to be good right? I mean you can’t go wrong with a book of fairytale retellings with a Grimms-esk amount of darkness. A spellbinding plot of Gesela being sent as a prisoner to “The Beast” or 7th elven prince after killing a toad that happened to be his brother who is cursed just like the rest of the princes. It is only that Gesela has 7 days to learn prince Casamir’s true name and fall in love with him to end his curse and grant her freedom. Super fast paced and totally on point for a book written by SSC. Thank you NetGalley and Scarlett for this eArc!!

I love fairy tale retellings that are a bunch of different ones mashed together. Where the characters talk in circles and dialogue is repeated multple times. It's music to me. This book had every delicious thing I hoped for and I loved it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Scarlett St. Clair and Bloom Books for granting me a copy of this book in return for my honest opinions.

Just love Scarlett's books and loved everything about this one! It is a fairytale retelling with magic and fae! What is not to love?

The book was extra spicy too, which is an added plus for me!

My only negative, if you can call it that, was it was to short!

Recommend.

This book has everything: fae, sex, illustrations, the pov of the two main characters, fantasy, retelling, and more.
If you love all of these things you have to read this book, is not a perfect book, but is a good reading experience.
Is a quick and gripping read, you can not put this book down till you finish, I love it, and I need a book like this, so it was perfect for me at the time, and I am excited to read more of this series.
If you're in a reading slump this book is perfect to get you out of this.

I am genuinely just speechless. I don't know how SSC does it every. Single. Time! She killed it with this one, and I loved the story behind her dedication.

I really really hope this book will be available in paperback at some point-- I would love to have a copy for my collection! This felt so unique, unlike anything I've read in the past while simultaneously wrapping me in this sense of comfort and familiarity.... I don't know if I'll ever experience anything quite like it again.

I absolutely fell in love with Gesela and Casamir! Scarlett's enemies to lovers just hits different. Their journey together was fantastic, along with the riddles and trickery to find out Casamir's true name. The artwork just added such a special touch, it's something I hope to see more of from authors in the future! I will definitely grab this in audio as well, I loved it so much!

This story follows Gesela, the inhabitant of a cursed village who is selected to break the curse and kill the toad in their well. The road however turns out to be an Elf prince, and his brothers imprison her in the realm of one their brothers near the glass mountains. Here she is tasked to reveal his name and break his curse in order to earn her freedom.

This was a quick fun read but lacked some of the depth of Scarlett’s other books. It was missing a bit of connection to the characters in my opinion.

Thanks NetGalley for the eARC
