Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.

Lana and her twin brother. Ollie have to return to their grandmother's house upon the death of their grandmother to sort out her estate and to prepare the house for sale. Attched to the property is a summer house, they each dread this building as it is where their older sister, Camille was brutally murdered. Their friend and Camille's boyfriend, Sebastian was found guilty and imprisoned for the crime. Lana is surprised to find Ollie has a fiance, Elise and doesn't think much of her as she swans around the property. Lana is also surprised to find Xavier, her exboyfriend and brother to Sebastian is back in town and decides to avoid him. As their paths cross thuings take a turn for the worst and it is obvious that someone is out to get Lana. Does it have to do with Camille's murder, did she make a mistake, was Sebastian really guilty or is the murderer still out there waiting....

This was my first book from this author, I would definitely read more books written by her, I found the storyline interesting and the book was well written

Keri Beevis I am in awe of how you started with a blank piece of paper and turned it into the masterpiece that is “The Summer House”.

Mead House has been in the Hamilton family for years. In the grounds is the Summer House, a place where the younger generation escape to. That is until 2005 when the body of Camilla Hamilton is found. The murder rocks the whole community and the lives of the remaining Hamilton siblings, twins Lana and Oliver are changed forever, especially as it is Lana’s evidence of the events of that night that puts her brother’s boyfriend behind bars.

17 years later Lana and Oliver return to Mead House as its owners. Lana hopes the ghosts of the past will finally be put to rest, but she didn’t count on finding something that would make her question what she really saw that night!

There are so many different elements to this story that my imagination was held captive from the very first page to the last. There is such an atmospheric air surrounding Mead House, I could feel its tentacles reaching out and wrapping themselves around me, so at times I felt Lana’s claustrophobia.
I really appreciate the intelligence and intrigue that has gone into the plotting of this book. The timelines run effortlessly side by side. The suspects are numerous, which is hard to achieve, but Keri is adept at hiding people in plain sight! I tried to double check every alibi provided and when certain names were mentioned I became afraid of what would happen next.

Lana and Xan are my heroes and I even had a grudging admiration for Oliver, although his choice in girlfriends left a lot to be desired!

This is so much more than a psychological thriller. It digs deep into the minds of how people will react when faced with a situation that is out of their control. It is full of twists, turns and red herrings but the ending although totally unexpected is exactly where the author was heading towards from that very first blank page!

I haven't read anything other than a 5* book from this author, and this book is no different.

The story centres on Lana, who returns to her childhood home after the death of her grandmother. Whilst her and her twin brother Ollie are clearing the house, Lana discovers a journal that makes her doubt the guilt of the man she believed murdered her sister when they were younger.

This book had me hooked immediately and I was surprised with the many twists. I really enjoyed the characters which were extremely well written. I highly recommend this book, it's a definite 5* from me.

I really enjoyed this book, and it captured an eerie feeling throughout, which kept my interest in the storyline. Great characters, great plot. A recommended read.

When two siblings return to the their grandmother’s home to prepare it for sale, they expect it to bring up bad memories, as it was the site of their sister’s brutal death years before. And even though their sister’s ex-boyfriend was put in prison for the murder, Lana finds a secret journal that sheds doubt on his guilt, and a series of events prove that someone certainly wants to keep the past buried in the past - but is it the true killer….or something more complicated?

The author managed to get a lot of plot into this story and make it all work - from the central mystery, to side plot intrigue and even a bit of steamy romance that really worked for me, it all managed to come together and create a really good suspenseful novel that took me by surprise! Both the main characters and the side characters were drawn really well and managed to create a well rounded plot that created several red herrings and potential suspects to the main mystery- who killed Lana and Ollie’s older sister Camille and is now looking to finish the score with Lana.

The ending was really good with everything being wrapped up nicely, and in a way that I didn’t see coming. Like I said, there was enough plot to keep things interesting and give enough suspects that I didn’t necessarily pick up on this one. But it was a bit of a doozy! And it made for some great reading.

I also really enjoyed the romance aspect of the book. Sometimes the romance can distract or detract from the story (or feel forced) but this one was none of those. It was really well done and I was rooting for them. I loved seeing their relationship grow and it was really romantic. Bravo!

Overall, this was a great book, with so many great aspects to it. Kudos to the author for creating a well-balanced world that drew me in and kept me turning pages!

Rating:⭐️⭐️.5

I was so excited to pick this book up as it sounded like a fun creepy thriller! At first I struggled to get into the story however once it switched to the present tense I did find it engaging. It kept me guessing throughout about who the killer might be and I really liked the different plot twists throughout. I loved analysing each character's behaviour and what they were saying to guess who it was.

I stayed up reading it in one sitting as it was fast paced and I wanted to find out answers. I did find the relationships between the characters quite frustrating to read about as the way other characters treated the main character was horrible. Also the way certain characters talked about women was terrible, the book could have taken a different direction towards the end without incorporating those elements.

Some of the scenes did get repetitive and the romance plot was rushed. It felt like the two characters hated each other for 2 chapters and then became friends very quickly regarding the circumstances. I wish this part had been developed more as I really liked the love interest. The big reveal at the end felt underwhelming as towards the end the suspect pool was small so it was easier to narrow it down and the reasoning behind the murder felt a bit ridiculous which lowered my overall rating.

In the end it was a quick and easy thriller but not something I'm going to think about again.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for sending me an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyable thriller with some interesting characters and fun twists! I’d definitely be interested in reading more from this author in the future!

This is the first book in quiet some time I was literally forced to give a 5-star rating.

I am totally impressed and ask myself, why I have not heard of this author before and why has nobody told me about her ?

At the beginning, you get introduced to the characters and you assume you know already who the killer is, since a strong suggestion is made...

But the more characters that get introduced it becomes clear, that the assumed killer might not be "the one".

The twists and turns are un-real and because of that, your mind is blown when it becomes clear, what really goes on.

Now this is a review, not a synopsis - so if you want to know more, you should really get this book and enjoy the story.

One thing is for sure:
I will buy more books from Keri Beevis !
I'd recommend, you do the same - you will not be disappointed !

Creepy, chilling and claustrophobic, get ready to be scared out of your wits with the latest thriller by Keri Beevis, The Summer House.

Mead House might have been her childhood home, but for Lana it is a place full of anguish, sorrow and despair and a constant reminder of the day she had lost everything. As she prepares herself to face old ghosts that have continued to haunt her across the decades, Lana returns to Mead House as an executor – alongside her brother, Ollie, – of her grandmother’s will. Having to empty the house for resale, she has prepared herself for an uneasy and unsettling experience, but even she is shocked to her very core by what she finds: the journal of her late sister whom she had lost in the most tragic and upsetting of circumstances…

Camille’s diary is full of shocking revelations that make Lana wonder just how well she knew her sister and whether everything she had believed about the night of her murder had been a lie. What did Lana see when her sister was killed? Did she get everything wrong? And did her evidence end up sending an innocent man – her former boyfriend’s brother – to jail for almost two decades? Tormented by guilt and desperate to uncover the truth, the time has come for Lana to come face to face with her demons and to return to that fateful night. The answer lies in the summer house where her sister died, but is Lana ready for what she is about to uncover?

Keri Beevis’ The Summer House is a brilliantly layered tale of family secrets, twisted relationships and the nature of evil that will make every single hair on the back of your neck stand on end. A fantastic chiller where nothing is as it initially seems. The Summer House grips from the start and will keep you hooked until the end as you find yourself consumed by this twisted and terrifying thriller.

Exciting, unpredictable and nail-biting, fans of cleverly written chillers will not want to miss The Summer House by Keri Beevis.

Lana and her twin brother Ollie travel to their deceased grandmother's house to empty it and prepare it for sale. The house is the site where their two-years-older sister Camille was murdered 17 years earlier. When cleaning things out, Lana discovers her sister's journal and past events are cast in a different light, leading Lana to wonder if the right person is in jail for her murder. What makes it even worse is that Lana's testimony helped put her then boyfriend's older brother in jail for Camille's murder. This was an excellent, suspenseful, sometimes scary read.

The Summer House sees Lana returning after her grandmother’s death. My heart went out to her about that and her sister’s death. I was hooked by the beginning, Lana and Xav and Lana’s sister’s diary. I can never resist a journal in a novel, and think it’s always a great way to learn about a character.

But I felt things got too busy too quickly in terms of things being too crowded. There were way too many characters and I couldn’t keep up once they were introduced. The novel is fast paced, but too many characters in too short a time was just confusing.

The main house, summer house and the surrounding area was very well imagined, and the novel was creepy.

The sheer amount of characters was overwhelming and distracting. I almost didn’t finish because of this, but I SO wanted to find out how things were going to end, so I perservered, and I’m glad I did.

Thanks to Keri Beevis, Boldwood Books and Rachel’s Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.

This was a gripping page turner that I couldn’t stop reading! It hooked me from the beginning. Lana and Ollie go back to their grandmothers house after 17 years. Their sister was murdered at The Summer house down the road. The killer has been in prison ever since. Lana discovers some secrets that may reveal she has put the wrong person behind bars. This was such a great fast paced thriller with a twist I didn’t see coming. This was my first book by Keri Beevis and won’t be my last.

Thank you Boldwood books and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Wow - I thoroughly enjoyed this book! Seventeen years ago Lana's sister was brutally murdered in the summer house at her childhood home. Lana was a key witness that sent her older sister's boyfriend to prison for the crime. Present day, Lana comes back home to deal with closing her grandmother's estate after she died. Then things start happening. An attempt is made on Lana's life. But why? And who? One person that Lana thought would never talk to her again, her ex-boyfriend, the brother to her sister's murdered, seems to be her biggest ally. Friends turn out to be enemies, while enemies end up being friends and a great twist at the end!

I enjoyed that the author puts clues in to lead the reader in one direction towards a potential suspect but it seems too obvious so you know that's not it. The author did this a few times and it can cause the reader to second guess their own gut instinct. I do have to say that I did work out an important person involved with the mystery but still did not see the final reveal of the murder coming. Also, great resolution of the story in the end! I have already recommended this to some of my thriller lover friends and will recommend to others as I go!

The Summer House by Keri Beevis is a psychological thriller.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Boldwood Books and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
Lana Hamilton and her twin brother Ollie inherit their grandmother's house.  Although their grandmother had raised them, and this had been their home, the twins have built their lives elsewhere.  They plan to sell it.  After their older sister Camille was murdered here seventeen years ago,  they don't have the heart to live at Mead House.  Ollie can't even look at the summer house where he found Camille's body.  Camille was only nineteen when she died, the twins seventeen, and things changed after that.

Lana has taken six-weeks off from her job as a graphic designer at a magazine, and she's going to use the time to get the house ready for sale.

But there are many things she must face, and one of the main ones is the fact that she was partly responsible for putting Camille's killer behind bars...and the fact that he was her boyfriend's brother.  Although Sebastian is still in prison, Lana's old boyfriend Xav has returned to town.  The reunion between Lana and Xav does not go as she had hoped.

When Lana finds her sister's secret diary, she realizes there was a lot about her sister she didn't know.  She starts to doubt Sebastian's guilt.

My Opinions:
The book was good, and a fast read, but it seemed a little predictable.  Although there were a number of twists and a multitude of suspects, I had guessed the perpetrator early on.

The story is told in a couple of time-lines, by multiple characters (not all known).  This worked fine, although once or twice it was a little confusing with the unknown narrators.

Overall, the writing was good, and the plot well thought out.

A gripping read that switches between characters and timeline of 2005 and present time

Ollie and Lana are left to clear out their grandmothers house after her death, the house where their eldest sister Camille was murdered and her killer sent to prison, upon clearing the house Lana finds Camilles diary and starts to realise that they may have imprisoned an innocent man

A cannot put down thriller read
Thank you to Netgalley for this arc
