I own Sarah's other books- 100 Cookies and Baking for the Holidays. To be honest I do prefer 100 Cookies over Baking for the Holidays only cause 100 Cookies is one of the best cookie cookbooks ever. The recipes are easy for a beginning baker. Sarah's Neopolitan cookie is one of the all time classic cookies that I've seen copied a dozen times from other food bloggers. I've baked it myself and people are amazed thinking you are a professional baker- even though its so easy to make!
Sarah has done it again with her new book- 100 Morning Treats. Her book is filled with recipes to satisfy your morning dreams from muffins, rolls, danishes, pancakes, etc. The recipes are easy to follow and I love the beautiful photographs. This is the ultimate morning baking fantasy book!! I would say it succeeds 100 Cookies and will be a necessary book for any home cook.

100 morning treats by Sarah Kieffer is a feast of recipes for the seasoned baker looking to add to their baking repertoire.

This lovely book will be a beloved addition to your baking lineup, straight from the kitchen of an experienced baker and blogger, Sarah Kieffer. Beyond the beautiful layout and photographs, these recipes are perfect for the long lazy weekends when you want to spoil and impress.

Grouped and categorized by type, each recipe is written using US and Metric measurements, making it easy for anyone to use this cookbook. Beginning with muffins, scones and quick breads, 100 morning treats is filled with recipes for a perfect brunch or late morning breakfast with your hot beverage of choice and a hard copy of the newspaper. More involved recipes include laminated doughs, which covers puff pastries, Danish, and croissants. There's a chapter on frying with donuts and fritters. And if you enjoy a heartier weekend breakfast, Kieffer has included a chapter of more filling recipes, such as Mini Dutch Babies, Croissant Breakfast Sandwiches, and Cheesy Croissant Casserole, among others.

To achieve all of these baking delights, a chapter of basic doughs and breads is included, as well as a chapter of extras such as libations, curds, jams, and dressings.

Plan your next weekend getaway to your own kitchen, all you need is 100 Morning Treats and an adventurous desire to master these delights

100 Morning Treats

The author points out that differing oven temperatures, humidity and coldness in the air, and even different brands of flour and butter affect how your product will turn out.
The first chapter deals with bread, scones and muffins - from double - chocolate banana muffins, to maple - oatmeal scones and finishes with lemon - meringue bread, which is a superstar with a lofty crust of meringue on top !
Remember to read the ingredient list carefully so you have all the products you need.
The coffee cake and bundt cakes include a simple citrus coffee cake, a tiramisu bundt cake, and an old fashioned chocolate pudding bundt cake (remember the cake mix ?) that are sure to please any palate!
There are buttermilk cinnamon rolls with thick icing, a giant carrot cake cinnamon roll, and chocolate glazed donuts that look bakery fresh!
The cream-filled danish is a holiday treat, the cinnamon twists are a great after school snack, and the popovers with fig butter are a showstopper!
Enjoy creating breakfast treats or sweet suppers with these mouthwatering recipes!

Sometimes a few pages into a cookbook is all you need before you say, “yup, you’re coming home with me.” And this was definitely one of those moments. These recipes looked delicious and the photography was incredible.

This cookbook is split up into sections:
Muffins, Scones, and Quick Breads
Coffee Cakes and Bundt Cakes
Sweet Yeasted and Fried Treats
Laminated Pastries
The Weekend
Base Dough and Breads
Extras

I kept waiting to come across a section that made me hesitant to try anything, but it never happened. Every one of these looks like a recipe that I would naturally be drawn to anyway. I’m tempted to make the House Pancakes soon because I seem to try different pancake recipes out of all my cookbooks. So that will probably be made soon.

If you like breakfasts and making baked goods, this is definitely a book to check out. It’s full of recipes we all know and like, and I can’t wait to dive in.

Thank you to Chronicle Books and NetGalley for providing an ebook for my honest review.

This book has 100 breakfast recipes to bake and cook. My family and I tried three of them. One was very easy and two were more difficult. I would consider this a cookbook for a moderate to intermediate home cook. The items we made were good. I plan to purchase a physical copy of this cookbook when it comes out.

Thank you to Sarah Kleffer, Chronicle Books, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in advance in exchange for an honest review.

Here is a book that will make even night owls want to get up and start their days. It has recipes from my favorite (bread) food group. There are recipes for muffins, rolls, biscuits, breads, scones, danish, French toast and more. Every single one of these 100 appeals to me.

As is generally true for cookbooks, this one begins with a section packed with helpful information. Then come the recipes with directions that make sense and the mouthwatering photos.

This book will be adored by those who like the bread game, even if it is not breakfast time. For those who don’t like to bake, gift it to someone as a gift and offer to be the taster.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Chronicle Books for this title. All opinions are my own.

My blood sugar shot up just from looking at the pictures. This is the perfect book for the owners of a B&B. I can't imagine a home baker making all this stuff. The range is huge.

Sarah Kieffer adheres to the Master Recipe and Variations form and we get detailed recipes for various doughs and then ideas for modifying them. Most of the recipes are for sweet pastries and breads but there is a chapter of savories too.

The recipes are well written and I didn't spot anything incomplete or confusing. The origin stories included with many recipes are welcome. So often writers lift recipes without acknowledging who they were adapted from.

You might never have to buy a pastry book again.

100 Morning Treats is the perfect book for baking enthusiasts! It covers basically every baked good you would want in the morning. I baked the Brown Butter Banana Bread and it was absolutely delicious. I am 100% going to purchase a physical copy when it releases and am so excited to try more recipes! This would also make for such a wonderful gift to those just starting to bake or seasoned bakers.

100 Morning Treats is another hit by Sarah Kieffer! I absolutely adore 100 Cookies, so I was delighted to hear she was making a book focused on breakfast/brunch recipes. As implied by the name, this cookbook is mostly filled with treats. There's a selection of savory dishes, but the bulk is more pastry/baking focused. Recipes are mostly at the beginner/experienced beginner level, but there's also a section for laminated pastries that are more advanced. This book has options for just about every morning treat you could imagine, baking tips, and suggestions on how to customize certain recipes. I know I will be being a ton of these recipes!

I am a total sucker for baking books and Sarah Kieffer has always been my absolute favorite, so I was thrilled to get an advance copy of 100 Morning Treats. I baked my way through many of these recipes and every single one was amazing. Every. Single. One. I’ve made a million banana breads but the recipe for Brown Butter Banana Bread was by far the best I’ve ever had. And the Sour Cream Chocolate Chip bread? Game changer. You simply can’t go wrong with these recipes.

If you don’t know Sarah Kieffer (creator of the pan-banging cookie), let this be your introduction. Her Baking for the Holidays and 100 Cookies books are well-loved in my house and I can’t wait to add 100 Morning Treats to my collection.

What a great selection of bakes, appropriate for morning — but really, to be enjoyed any time. Breads, muffins, scones, coffee cakes, fancy pastries, and some jams and streusels are beautifully described and photographed, and the recipes have clear, step-by-step instructions. This is a stylish and appetizing collection of recipes that’s appropriate for beginners and more expert bakers.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader’s copy.

This book is. a pastry lover and chefs DREAM. My biggest issue with this book is that I don't know what to make first.
100 Morning treats can cover your need for muffin, coffee cake, laminated pastry recipes and so much more.
There are also extra recipes that are full of jams, butters, dressings to pair with your fresh pastries.

Previously, I have reviewed 100 Cookies by Sarah Kieffer (of The Vanilla Bean Blog), a cookbook I bought even though I am lactose intolerant and it is chock full of recipes that are dairy dependent. Since reviewing that book two years ago, I am still lactose intolerant, but I have become much more comfortable adapting recipes to fit my dairy free needs. Oat milk and Earth Balance are my friends. I have also found that I am almost as happy to bake things I can’t eat for other people as I am to bake things I can eat for myself. I tested several of the recipes both as written and adapted for dairy free. I even made a couple vegan.

I love this cookbook. I am a recipe criminal in that I see recipes as a jumping off point for my imagination. What works best for me about this book is that the foundations are solid. Once I know a recipe works as written, I can play. Every recipe I tried works beautifully as written and as adapted to be dairy free.

There are two recipes in here that I have now made so many times I have them memorized – the Milk Bread Dough and the Toasting Bread. The milk bread dough is a dream to work with. It bakes up beautifully as a loaf and is endlessly adaptable. Kieffer gives credit to Kristina Cho and her cookbook Mooncakes and Milk Bread as the source for the milk bread recipe in 100 Morning Treats. I wish I had been more confident making dairy free substitutions when I was reviewing that cookbook. I couldn’t tell any difference in the loaf when I used dairy milk and butter versus when I used oat milk and Earth Balance Buttery Sticks. I also took the filling and glaze from the Orange Buns recipe and used the milk bread to make cinnamon orange knots. I am obsessed with them now.

The Toasting Bread is a sleeper of a recipe, but I fell in love with it. While I do make toast with it (spread with fake butter and drizzled with hot honey), It makes an excellent sandwich loaf. It’s oaty and soft. Making the bread is a fairly quick process, and if you have a standing mixer, the whole thing is very easy. Honestly, I would buy the cookbook for this recipe alone.

Other recipes I made which I will make again when I have the hard copy in my hands:

Cardamom Bundt Cake with Coffee Glaze
Morning Buns with Cheater Croissant Dough*
Brioche Bagels
Giant Carrot Cake Cinnamon Roll
Ham and Cheese Breakfast Sliders
*I could definitely tell a difference when I used the dairy free butter in the cheater croissant dough, but it’s the closest I have come to making a good croissant since finally giving up butter. I will continue to play with it.

I have a list of people that I’m buying this for, including myself. I would have loved a few more savory morning recipes, but not enough to knock off a star. This cookbook also works best if you have a standing mixer.

I received this as an advance reader copy from Chronicle Books and NetGalley. My opinions are my own, freely and honestly given.
