Desai’ voice is delightful as always, pulling us in with exceptionally written characters and a vibrant sense of setting, and this definitely book shines brightly as one of my favourite Sara Desai’ romances to date.
Anyone looking for your next fun, action packed, romance read, pick up To Have and to Heist. If you enjoyed the adventure of Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai, this is for you. There's immediate intrigue in this heist romance novel. But there's an undeniable and foundational core of friendship and humor. Because - let's face it - the average reader or person wouldn't be great at a heist right off the bat. In To Have and to Heist I loved the friendship between Simi and her best friend, this extremely rag tag group of maybe criminals, and the humor on every page.
Oh, To Have and to Heist was exactly as much fun as I hoped it'd be. I absolutely loved this, reading through it in an afternoon. I am a sucker for a heist novel, and Sara Desai is a master of the rom com.
A fun read with a hilarious cast of characters. I just hope there's more to come of The Wedding Crew!
I really, really enjoyed this book! The beginning is so outrageous where an unknown man GRABS the main character and pulls her into a BUSH and she FLIRTS WITH HIM!!! Absolute bonkers but I loved it. It has many, many other delightfully kooky scenes that somehow magically does not come across as cringey.
It's a strong improvement from Sara Desai's previous book and I'm looking forward to seeing what she writes next.
It was very slow in the beginning and I just couldn’t get into the book. If felt too little like a romance novel. The main character seemed childish. I just don’t think it was the book for me
Highly entertaining and emotionally trilling journey that was so hard to put down. Sweetly heartwarming, sexy and fun small-town journey that was filled with intriguing charters, witty banter and simmering passion.... was a great read from beginning to end.
Fun promise that delivered plenty of hijinks. Disappointed by the build-up of sexual tension only for it to not really deliver. Loved that the cover up wedding company basically became a real thing.
I absolutely LOVE a book that will make me laugh, and this one knocked it out of the park. This was one of the funniest books I've ever read! I enjoyed it so much! A great lighthearted romcom.
This was really fun! I loved all the action-the book kept moving and was a quick read. I enjoyed the main characters a lot. My library has purchased this book. I will read more by Sara Desai.
I loved all the chracters EXCEPT for the lead hero, I would love to have more books of the other characters but this was probably Desai's least favorite book for me
I LOVED this book. The perfect combination of funny, heartfelt, and action-packed. Desai has quickly become an auto-buy author of mine!
I never knew where this story was going to go! It had such good adventure to go with the romance! I love a good spy/heist story and this book delivered! Was slow to get into, but once the story got going it didn't stop! The FMC and MMC are dynamic and funny and even the support cast in the story had their own individual personalities that kept the story interesting!
This is my first read by this author, and I must say that I quite enjoyed the storyline and characters. It is a suspenseful romance between Simi and Jack. There is no denying the sizzling chemistry and strong connection between these two intense but likeable souls. It is a romantic adventure with drama, intrigue, danger, action, mystery, suspense, steam, humor, surprises, twists and turns, plus appealing secondary characters to keep the reader interested. An engaging page turner.
This book was a lot of fun!! I especially enjoyed the last 100 pages (the twists!!!), I think thats when I really got into it. The middle was a tad bit slow for me, which is why I took one star off. But truly, if you like insta love or a badass FMC, this is a great book for you. I loved Simi and I thought that she was just the right amount of sass. Also, the side characters were awesome and I loved all of them.
A fun adventure with excellent characters. The plot lagged a bit in the middle, but by the end I was tearing through this book to see how everything turned out. As any good heist story should, this has a number of twists to keep the audience on its toes. I thought the romance was overshadowed by the rest of the story, but I was in it for the adventure so I didn’t mind. I did want more of Jack’s backstory. I understand why it wasn’t included, but it felt like a lot was left unexplained.
This was fun, but quite rushed. The romance started off promising, but I didn’t feel like enough time or effort was devoted to building up the chemistry. The heist felt slightly more well developed than the romance, but unfortunately due to poor pacing, we got a lot of great build up, then a fast-paced, nonstop, breathless third act that rushed too much.
I felt like Simi’s parents felt more like caricatures than characters, and many of the emotional or developmental arcs remained unresolved.
Other than that, this was a fun read, and I would definitely read more from the author.
Enjoyable caper-however the voice of Jack or Oliver or whatever his name is really bugged me. There is a chapter at the beginning middle and end where this character talks directly to the reader-it really ruined the flow of the book for me, I much preferred the main female identifying character.
This book is such fast paced, filled with adventure, comedy mind games and a touch of romance! I quite enjoyed it and really is like an homage to heist movies!
Even if it's not a romance book through and through, you could really "see" Simi and Jack's chemistry !
It's "ocean's eight" meets "wedding planner" and I'm so here for it!
I definitely recommend it anyone that wants a quick, witty, and adventurous rom-com!
To Have and To Heist by Sara Desai was a fun, laugh out loud, romantic comedy. I love this author as she always comes up with a fun premise for a book and develops the characters where you want more from them. The fact that a romance had action in it made it even more enjoyable!
