Sisters-in-law Rose and Peg have always had a difficult relationship. So difficult, in fact, that they didn't speak to each other for over 30 years. Now that Peg's husband Max has died, the two women have begun to thaw their frosty friendship. Rose, a former nun, left the convent to marry Peter, a former priest. Together with their cook/housekeeper Maura, the couple operate Gallagher House, a women's shelter. Peg keeps busy as a judge at dog shows, something that Rose can't comprehend as all the dogs look alike to her. Feeling that Peg should look for human, rather than predominantly canine, companionship, Rose convinces her to put a profile up on the dating website Mature Mingle. Peg is skeptical, but open to the idea. She soon finds a man that seems to good to be true, Nolan. As she and Nolan get to know each other, Rose cautions her to be careful. Her advice isn't needed as soon after they begin dating, Nolan is dies in a hit and run accident. When Peg and Rose notice nearly all the mourners at his funeral are women around their same age, they decide to look closer into Nolan's life and the circumstances of his death.

The story was very cute and Peg's fascination with dogs and dog shows was obvious. The differences between the women provided an interesting contrast as they battled each other (in a gentle way) while searching for the truth. The one thing that was a bit strange was how Rose was so open and eager to tell everyone she met about the women's shelter she ran and where it was. I thought that information needed to be kept secret for everyone's sake??? Other than that small issue, the story was good fun.

Peg and Rose are back in the second installment of the “Senior Sleuths” series by Laurien Berenson! I loved this book even more than the first! It was fast paced, hilarious, suspenseful and full of adorable animals.
Peg and Rose Stir up Trouble picks up where the first book left off and Rose is signing Peg up for online dating (much to Peg’s displeasure). Of course there is a murder that derails Peg’s dating plan - but this means that the crime solving duo is back on the case!
This book was an absolute hoot and I already want to read the next book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Cozies for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Peg finally agrees to get back into the dating pool at Rose’s urging. By golly, even though she doubted it, Peg is matched with Nolan and he seems to be a perfect fit. But then, just as quickly as she clicked with Nolan, he has an accident and is gone.

But Peg doesn’t believe it was an accident, so she and Rose are going to find out who took Nolan out. Can the sisters in law solve the case or will they be following Nolan?

I love these two ladies. They’re spunky and as your read their interactions, you can see someone you know who fits each of them…and that’s what scares me as I get older…though these two could make me change mind about getting older. A great mystery and the second in this series…with many more to come, I hope.

3.75/5 stars! This is the second book in the "Senior Sleuths" series and it was honestly a whimsical and delightful quick read. The writing has a refreshing way of writing from the perspective of older characters while still keeping them 3-dimensional. I enjoyed Peg and Rose had me cackling out loud throughout the story.

I received an advance review copy for free through NetGalley, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

I don't usually read cozy mysteries but I loved the cover and synopsis for "Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble." Loved the friendship between the two women, their online dating adventures, and the dog show. Highly recommended for a fun, light read full of heart and humor. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I recieved a free eARC of this book. Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

Laurien Berenson is one of my favorite cozy mystery authors. This book is the second in a spin off series from her Melanie Travis dog mysteries, focusing on Peg, the widowed dog show judge and poodle breeder, who features heavily in the Melanie Travis series, and Rose, a former nun who, along with her husband, runs a women's shelter. It would not be necessary to read earlier books to enjoy this series, but the background would be helpful

When Rose decides to sign Peg up for a dating service for senior adults, she had only the best intentions in mind, however, when Peg's date is killed suddenly, the two sisters try to figure out what happened. Like the earlier Peg and Rose book, a lot of the humor and conflict comes in the difference between two sisters who are both alike...and different. The mystery progresses at a satisfactory place and comes to a logical conclusion,

There are some minor mentions of sexual relationships between consentual adults, with no graphic content. This book would be appropriate for teen/YA readers who enjoy mysteries. The adult protagonists and setting may be less relatable to teen readers, but those who have read the Melanie Travis books, especially, will likely find it enjoyable.

Peg and Rose Stir Up Trouble is another fabulous story by a favorite author.
We all know Peg from the Melanie Travis mysteries, and Rose is her sister in law.
Peg and Rose are headed into another murder investigation, and this one is personal. A potential suitor for Peg is the victim of a hit and run, and when Peg learns the horrible truth about him, she isn't surprised by the long list of suspects.
Rose takes the lead in this investigation and surprises and impresses Peg with her investigative skills.

This is a great story and I hope others enjoy it as much as I did.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

Peg and Rose team up again to find a killer. When Rose sets up Peg with online dating, she meets Nolan, a handsome and charismatic older man who seems perfect. When he is run over by a car in a hit and run, the odds are it was not an accident. Enjoyed this one, and like the banter and growing relationship of the sisters-in-law. This is book two, and one I truly enjoyed. Would recommend.
