What a crazy whirlwind of a story and characters. One minute you're a normal gal in search of the perfect wedding dress and the next you learn you're whole life is not what you thought. Throw in a future MIL who is definitely in charge of your wedding, a mysterious woman who keeps showing up in the oddest spots and a town filled with people who are so odd and unique.

Thank you to Netgally, the publishers, and Elizabeth Bass

When I requested this book I was unaware that it was apart of a series, one that requires you to read the previous books for this one to make sense. I am unable to read all the previous books along with this one before the publish date. Therefore, I will rate this a fair 3/5 stars and will adjust the rating and review when I am able to read all the books in the series along with this one.

MFC was a huge pushover, letting her fiance and his family dictate everything. There was no connection to her and her birth family at all.

Wasn’t a fan of this unfortunately, nothing against the author just found it to be a little static for me.

I loved the first book in the series and this follows the same kind of pattern. There's a witch who discovers she isn't as normal as she thought. She's marrying the perfect guy but as the date to her wedding draws closer, everything keeps going wrong. The name denotes everything you need to know, this cute cupcake coven is slowly building up its magical reserves. The story leaves you with a smile on your face.

Bailey is about to get married to the prestigious Wes Haverman. Her normal life is about to take a wild turn when she discovers her birth mother and a family she didn’t know existed just weeks before she walks down the aisle, and they just happen to be witches! Bailey’s life becomes completely turned upside by Seton, a time traveler from the 1930’s, that her new witchy mother brings into her life. Sparks ignite between the two. Does Bailey really want to marry Wes? Can she help get Seton back to his own time or does faith have other plans for the two? Tannith is also back and she has Bailey and her wedding in her crosshairs.

I really enjoyed this book. The romance in this was an improvement from book 1. I was really invested in the story line and I couldn’t wait to see how it all unfolded. I also loved all the characters in this, even poor Madeline. An obsessed Ex is usually not my favorite in a story line, but her character was so well done. I couldn’t help giggling at all the awful things that kept happening to her 😆 I adored Seton and loved watching him experience all the new things in present time and how he slowly fell for Bailey. Ever character was very well developed and I really didn’t want to put this down. I removed a star because the romance didn’t happen til the last chapter, with that said, I still liked this book a lot.

Even if you didn’t enjoy book one in this series, definitely give this one a try. It was a quick easy fun witchy read! Tip: skip the audio on this one - I wasn’t a fan.

this was a good read, though not entirely what I was expecting. It was at times it hard to see the romantic thing There wasn’t much of a connection between Bailey and her fiancée Wes for me and it felt flat at times either. I loved the parrot and found Esme, Bailey’s birth mother also very amusing. Although this is the second book in the series, I didn’t feel lost by jumping in with book 2. I thought the witch theme, with all of Wes’ ex-girlfriend’s magical mishaps, was very entertaining.

Thank you to Netgalley, the author, and Kensington Books for the gifted e-book! ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.

This was not it for me. It was disjointed. I didn't like the characters. I didn't like most of it and the romance was very rushed.

The Witch Hitch by Elizabeth Bass REVIEW

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I waited way too long to read this! I absolutely loved it! From the first page I was carried away on a magical adventure. I recently found out this is the second book in a series and now I want to backtrack and read the first book (and maybe some other works from this author). The Witch Hitch is so entertaining with a hint of silliness that just adds to the overall experience. From finding your coven to finding home this delightful tale is sure to satisfy any witchy reader.

This witchy romance is fast paced and tons of fun. I'd recommend this to fans of Erin Sterling and April Asher.

3 stars - More shenanigans with the Cupcake Coven

The Witch Hitch is the second book in the Cupcake Coven series about the witches of Zenobia, New York. I had a really good time with the first installment "A Letter to Three Witches" and was curious about the next adventures of this rather awesome group of witches.
This book centers on Bailey, who is just about to get married to Wes, the son of a wealthy local family, and who has enough on her plate just wrangling Wes' overenthusiastic (=intrusive and rude) family who are all over planning her wedding to be a rather pompous deal.
So she really cannot use getting mixed up in increasingly weird events including a man who appears to come from a different time and age, some Esme Zimmermann, who suddenly shows up again and again in her life, and some really weird powers that she suddenly seems to have developed.

Of course there will be banter, some romance and a happy ending after all sorts of shenanigans. All in all this sounds like a solid recipe for a good time and it more or less is. I just had a significantly better time with the first book and that is mostly due to the way the romance is handled here.

Bailey is engaged to Wes who she describes as a really great guy but we never get to see why on earth they would be in a relationship. They come from vastly different worlds and Wes is clearly lacking any sense for how intrusive and arrogant his family is acting towards his fiancee and does not see any need to protect her in any way. They also don't really have anything to talk about and don't appear close in any way.
What I really disliked most though was Bailey's insta-attraction to Seton and how she would make all sorts of excuses for herself for how wanting to kiss him is not infidelity. Yes, it is!

So, that was not really my cup of tea but I did really enjoy the part of the story where Bailey finds out about her powers, her family and learns to accept herself and her new coven. This is exactly the feel-good witchiness I came for!

I do have one more gripe: there is some off-hand comment calling it reverse Me Too when a female employee goes after her boss that is written in a way that sounds really dismissive of the real Me Too movement - that was absolutely not necessary IMO and made me think less of the author.

Still, this is mostly solid witchy fun and should appeal to most readers who enjoyed the first book in the series (or other small-town witch rom-coms).

I have received an advance review copy via NetGalley from the publisher and voluntarily provide my honest opinion. Thank you very much!

The Witch Hitch by Elizabeth Bass
Publisher: Kensington Books
Genre: Supernatural romance, Magical realism
Rating: 3 stars

This is the second book in the Cupcake coven series. In this book we follow Bailey as she navigates the chaos and drama that is her upcoming wedding. After a while we do reconnect with the cousins and aunt from the first book which I enjoyed.

I have mixed feelings about this one. I enjoyed the concept but I couldn’t stand Bailey or her Fiance. He was a bit of a jerk, along with the rest of his family and his ex-girlfriend and Bailey just went along with everything. I wanted to scream at her and tell her to stand up for herself. When your fiance asks you to have his ex girlfriend in your bridal party (who is a b*tch mind you) you say no!!

Overall a cute, light witchy read for the month of october!

Again this one is a little light on the romance aspect and focuses more on Bailey’s life and how she navigates wedding planning, family dramas and finding out she is a witch.

4 out of 5 stars - If you ask me, I'll tell you to read it (but read the first book in the series first!)

This is the second book in the Cupcake Coven series. It was light and fun and I was easily swept away.

Thank you NetGally and Kensington books for allowing me to read this book.

Let me start by mentioning that I have not read the first book of this series. And though I think it is unnecessary to be able to enjoy this second book, I think it does help to have a bit more background on some of the personas.

The story was very entertaining and had a good flow. It was easy to follow despite not having read the first book. The only remark I have is that it was confusing that Sarah's boyfriend was first called Mark and later it was Dave. I hope this was corrected in the final edition.

I loved that the MC is not a teenager or young adult anymore, but a grown woman. Most of the books I read have MC's in their late teens or early twenties.

Finding out you are a witch while your marriage to a VERY normal guy + family is only a few weeks ahead creates quite the chaos. I'm not sure if I agree with how the MC treats her fiance. She is so much in love with him and suddenly she doesn't tell him anything anymore. But it does provide the perfect base for all that follows...

If you like 'cosy' type stories, I think you would like this series.

I have added an review on Amazon.com, Netgalley and Storygraph and I will also post on Instagram

The Witch Hitch by Elizabeth Bass is a story with annoying characters. I found the characters to be superficial. The author did not take the time to develop the characters. Bailey Tomlin got on my nerves. I found her to be immature. I quickly tired of her running away from what she did not wish to deal with. Bailey’s wedding is quickly approaching, but I did not feel a twinge of emotion from her for her fiancé. Seton enters the scene and there are sparks of attraction between them (literally). I never felt any emotion from the pair. The romance was lacking in this story. There is drama and silly antics throughout the story. Bailey learns about her birth family and her powers. There is a bad guy who is coming after Bailey, and she needs to learn how to use her special gifts. The scene with the bad guy was anticlimactic. I found it to be a letdown. I was expecting a fun, entertaining witchy tale, but that is not The Witch Hitch. There was too much going on (too much in my opinion). Despite the various activities, the book seemed to drag. I did like that Bailey discovered that she could be herself and stop trying to be what others expected her to be. That is something everything individual needs to learn (took me fifty years to get there). The Witch Hitch is the second book in A Cupcake Coven Romance series which I did not know when I requested it. The Witch Hitch can be read as a standalone, but I believe it is helpful to read A Letter to Three Witches (gives you the background on Bailey’s biological family and their witchy history). The Witch Hitch is a rom com without the romance or the comedy. I was very happy when I turned the last page of The Witch Hitch.

I DNFed at 30%.

The bones of this read had me ready to dive in and this book is what I’d define as fine. It was enough to keep me reading, but not to be engrossed that I HAD to read it. The pacing was slow, it was frequently repetitive, and the content left me wanting for more.

I was to the point where I was intrigued and decided I would finish it out when the phrase “reverse me too moment” was used. First, the Me Too movement is not a laughing matter - you’re talking about survivors of sexual acts that’s pretty dang serious. And second, the use of the word “reverse” as if the Me Too movement isn’t a movement for all people. Both are disrespectful to survivors. It’s astonishing this made it through edits.

Ultimately, these points collectively made up my decision to DNF the read.

I had the chance to read Elizabeth Bass's previous book, A Letter to Three Witches. I truly enjoyed about the hijinks, magic, and the cupcake coven within the book. So, when I heard about this book, I just had to Request it.

The book's cover is stylish and captures the charm of the story. Elizabeth Bass does another wonderful job of introducing her enchanting world to readers. While this book can be read as a standalone, I recommend checking out A Letter to Three Witches as well. The story and characters are charming and fun to read. I definitely recommend this book to readers!

My thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGallery for a digital copy of this book, for my review.

Light hearted paranormal urban romcom with time travelling romance (wedding crash by a man from the past - like literally from decades in the past).

- paranormal witchy urban romcom
- witch coming into her powers
- time travelling MMC
- love triangle (could be considered cheating)
- fun and funny
- cosy
- spicy

Seriously funny romcom moments with a witchy twist and a romance that defies the ages.

World building/magic system was a little unclear.

The Witch Hitch by Elizabeth Bass is book two of the Cupcake Coven series. I very much enjoyed this book. The characters really made the story, and the author had me rooting for them throughout. I didn't read the first book in the series but now I want to go back and read it as this book was fun and can definitely be a standalone but I hope to know the characters better.
