"The Catsitter's Conundrum" by Angel Leigh McCoy is a purr-fectly delightful mystery that earns a solid four stars for its quirky characters, engaging plot, and the enchanting allure of a peculiar town.

Kitty, the protagonist, is not your average catsitter—she's a cat whisperer with a keen eye for detail. McCoy weaves a tale of mystery, arson, and a missing boy as Kitty finds herself in the midst of chaos in the quaint and magical town of Wyrdwood. With debt looming over her, she takes on catsitting as a means to an end, only to be thrust into a thrilling adventure to rescue a kidnapped boy.

The characters in this book are a highlight, each with their own unique quirks and challenges. Diana, Kitty's daughter, adds depth to the narrative with her struggles, providing a relatable dimension to the story. The real scene-stealer, however, is Muse, the feline king in exile, whose witticisms and observations bring humor and charm to the tale. The interactions between Kitty, Diana, and Muse create a delightful dynamic that keeps the reader invested.

Wyrdwood, the magickal town on the Oregon Coast, is a vividly imagined setting that adds an extra layer of intrigue to the story. The blending of mythical races, modern-day elements, and the volatile mix of residents create a rich and immersive backdrop. McCoy's world-building skills shine through, making Wyrdwood feel like a place where anything can happen.

The mystery itself is well-crafted, with red herrings and twists that keep the reader guessing until the very end. McCoy's insight into cat minds adds a unique flavor to the narrative, making it a refreshing and enjoyable read. The pacing is steady, and the book strikes a good balance between suspense and humor.

While the Catsitter's Conundrum might not reach the pinnacle of a five-star rating due to some moments where the plot feels a tad convoluted, it certainly delivers on its promise of a mystery that keeps readers engaged and entertained. If you're a fan of quirky characters, feline insights, and a touch of the magical, this book is a must-read. It's a whisker-licking good time that will leave you eager for more adventures in Wyrdwood.

I LOVE this book! I"m a huge cat fan and I read a lot of cat books. I saw this book and had to see what it was about. I love cats and mysteries, mysteries are my favorite genre to read. This was very good and interesting. I love how she wasn't a fan of cats but then she got to be one after the cat decided it was her owner instead of the people that were next door. Great book about a cat (magical one) and how the lady in the story is a witch who solves crimes. Very good read.

This is book 1 in the Kitty Kats Around series. Set in Wyrdwood, a paranormal community in the Pacific Northwest the story centers on AN ARSONIST, A KIDNAPPER, AND A CAT. Kitty is a mom with a lot of debt and is catsitting to make her mortgage payments. Muse is the cat. The king of cats in exile, to be exact. Literally. This rascally tuxedo follows Kitty around and offers keen observations on the people, places, and hijinks they encounter. He thinks he's being helpful. Diana is the daughter, a tech geek married to a grifter in prison for perpetuating a Ponzi scheme. With her assets frozen by the FBI, Diana has had to move back in with her mother, and is trying not to let depression overwhelm her. As she job-hunts, her mom's latest obsession is just the distraction she needs. Lots of twist and turns. Will probably look for the second book.

This is a charming paranormal mystery, set in a small Oregon town where many people have magical abilities. Kitty is our main character whose deceased husband has left her finances in shambles. Her daughter, Dianna, is also facing financial troubles as her husband is jailed for running a ponzi scheme. The two decide to earn money by catsitting. They are adopted by a magical cat named Muse. The neighbor's house burns to the ground and a boy disappears and the threesome set out to solve the mystery.

This is a mellow, cozy type paranormal mystery and the first in the series.

This is a paranormal mystery set in a small town in Oregon where some people have magic and some people know about it. Kitty is a recent widow who has discovered she is about to lose her house due to her husband financial fumblings and her daughter has moved home after losing her job and her soon-to-be ex is in prison on a Ponzi scheme. Kitty has decided to make some money catsitting. But on the first night, the house next door burns to the ground and the boy disappears. Kitty will need help from her daughter and the new cat who adopted her (who just might have a mysterious background of his own) to figure out what is going on.

I like Kitty. She isn't your usual paranormal mystery/urban fantasy heroine. She isn't a take charge kick butt type person. She is much more mellow and go with the flow, though that hasn't always worked to her advantage. Her magic is really a very minor part of the story. She is someone a lot of people can relate to. On the other hand, Muse, the magical cat, is very much self-aware and is an active participant in this mystery, though, not everyone knows of just how much he is involved. He is very much a cat and with the behaviors that match, but again active magic isn't a big part of solving the mystery. Dianna, Kitty's daughter, was a little hard to connect with. But the three make a formidable trio.

This is low on the violence scale and focused on a kidnapping. It is a charming story. I look forward to reading more in this town and with Kitty.

Kitty is a mom, and a cat whisperer. Due to her husband’s death, she is cat sitting due to the debts he left. Diana, her daughter has divorced her husband who is in prison due to a Ponzi scheme. The FBI has frozen her assets making it necessary to move back home with her mom. Muse is the name of the cat who is also the king of cats in exile. Wyrdwood is an unusual town. It’s magical and mythical creatures such as elves, withes and more who live next door to regular human beings. Kitty is cat sitting next to a house that has burned down. Fortunately no one was home except perhaps Muse as his fur had been singed. Was the house burned by accident or was it arson? The fire chief saves Kitty when she walks toward the firemen. The fire chief saw a burned branch about to fall on Kitty. He ran and grabbed her just in time to save her. He says he’s sorry about her husband’s death and then asks her out to dinner. Kitty says no .

The characters in this mystery are great. I loved reading about them and their experiences in the novel. I admit to be a cat lover so I enjoyed about Kitty the cat whisperer interactions with cats. I had a good time reading mystery which I think anyone will enjoy reading.

I found this story very entertaining and had a lot of fun, I loved Muse above all the other characters as it's a well rounded and realistic cat.
There's some sadness at the beginning but I found the magical town intriguing and the mystery solid.
I hope to read soon another instalment as I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I really enjoyed this one! This was an easy read that had me on the edge of my seat at times, and chuckling with laughter to myself at others. Loved the “who done it” aspect and the sprinkle of magick within the plot. As a cat lover, I love was also super happy that cats were included (and also a huge reason why I chose to read this book in the first place). I was surprised by the reveal of who the culprit was at the end, but had fun with the process of trying to figure it out. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a cozy mystery.

An entertaining magical cosy. The quotes at the start of each chapter introduce the action which I found intriguing. Muse is a fabulous character and his background is also intriguing. I received this as an advance copy from the author via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving this review.

It was entertaining, and slightly intriguing, but kitty was a bit of a disappointment. She was naive in thinking she didn’t need the police, when the kidnapper left the ransom note on her door. Nevertheless, it was an interesting story.

Home is Wyrdwood – “a modern, magical, mythical” place to live. Kitty is facing bankruptcy when her daughter Diana returns home to live. So Kitty starts catsitting to earn money, and when the house next to her current client burns down, she inherits Muse – known as “the king of cats in exile.” These three characters tell the story through their respective chapters.

Angel Leigh McCoy introduces readers to the first in her paranormal mystery series - Kitty Kats Around – with The Catsitter’s Conundrum. The narrative is a bit confusing, but the characters are entertaining – especially Muse. Hopefully, the second in this series will be more informative and organized.

This is a paranormal cozy mystery that follows a mother and daughter team as they work to solve a neighborhood mystery surrounding a mystery fire and disappearance. Kitty is introduced to us a woman that appears to be taking the brunt of blame for actions that she did actively participate in but those that she also blames herself to a degree. Her son in law was a part of a con that affected the immediate community. The odd thing to me was that her daughter didn't really seem to get this type of behavior directed at her even though it was her husband. I also (perhaps because I am not as familiar with paranormal cozy mysteries) but I wasn't really sure I understood all of the magical aspects what made the different type of magical unique. I wish there had been a guide to refer back to so I could keep track. The mystery it self was really enjoy able there was a sub mystery as well that was head up by Muse. I also enjoyed how the characters seemed really modern, they weren't preparing tea nor had enough snacks and a tray lying around for when people came over. I rate this a 3.5 and will read the next one. Thank you to NetGallery and the publisher for providing me a copy to read and provide my honest opinion.

Wyrdwood is home to Kitty and Diana, as they both try to move on with their lives after loss. To help make ends meet, Kitty starts her cat sitting business, and finds herself being adopted by a cat of her own.

Things take a twist when a neighbor’s house has a fire and then a child goes missing. Now Kitty has on her sleuthing hat and tries to figure out what wyrdness is going on in Wyrdwood.

I love this story and can’t wait for more, If you like cozy mysteries with a dash of the paranormal and a sprinkling of quirkiness, this is your series! It’s the perfect escape from life for awhile.

I choose this on a whim, after I was drawn to the cover.
