Wow! I wasn't sure what to expect in this book but I loved it and now have another author for my TBR list. There is suspense, romance, and a new start at life. Lauren is turning 70 soon and has been managing her daughter Renita's psychotherapist practice for 22 years. As she gets up each morning for work, she thinks 'There has to be a better way'. With Renita's implying that she has dementia and both of her daughters wanting to manage her life, Lauren decides to move to Mexico. I received a free copy of this ebook from the author. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. The characters are so intriguing especially Lauren, David, and Andi. I found the story original and love how Lauren opened up to life and love. There is lots of suspense and an intriguing Mexico setting. There is so much more to this book than I can describe.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I don't think that I was the target demographic for this book, but I enjoyed it. The descriptions of Mexico alone had me itching to book a trip.

Read this authors work many years ago and am still as excited about her current work as I was then. Her characters are so fully developed you feel they are real - that she is talking about people she truly knows. The story line resonated with my aging thoughts - so good to know I'm not alone! Really enjoyable.

Laura is 69 and is rethinking her whole life she has been working for her daughter Renita for the past few years it really feels like she wants to do something that feels like living in what she comes up with is moving to Mexico. Her son-in-law is a lawyer in Houston and he hooked her up with one in Mexico to help her negotiate getting an apartment due to her not speaking the language this is how she comes to me David Fuentes he is a good looking Mexican American who is 17 years younger than Laura but their attraction to each other almost seems palpable when she finds out her daughter wants to put a 72 hour hold to have her mentally a valuated she is at a loss as to what to do so she calls David up and before she knows that she has agreed to stay at his home until the order expires. But not everything is cut and dry and in many ways this is just the beginning. I truly enjoyed this book of an older woman and a younger man but more than that the storyline is so interesting and so different from most literary fiction stories to read I truly enjoyed this book and although like most stores sells much more to the store than what I’m putting in the summary just know if you love fiction and family drama you’ll love this book I certainly did. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

An excellent story about being true to oneself, brave and never stop living. Age is just a number and Lauren is a character I loved.
Well plotted, compelling.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I really enjoyed this read! My first by this author. The story and characters were very well drawn. The location and description were wonderful to read about too. Finding what you want even later in life is such a special thing.

I was attracted by the pretty cover design, and the description sounded interesting.

Initially the writing struck me as quite thought-provoking and powerful. There was a particular sentence that was repeated during the first few chapters, and that struck me as powerful too. The characters interested me, and I liked them. This is a story about someone finding what they are looking for later on in life, so in that sense, it was quite heart-warming to read too.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for a free copy to review.

I received a copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review.
-A roller-coaster ride of emotions (fear, joy, etc.) and a mix of categories (suspense, mystery, romance, etc.). What a great trip!
-In chapter eleven we learn that Lauren gave her family, along with the long-term BF and husband of her daughters, complete authority on her finances and legal matters. Which will eventually be the death of her - figurally speaking - All her problems start from there. She is no longer dependent.
-Most of us would never think, just like Laurent, that blood could turn against you. This story shows how far her daughter Renita wanted and would do it and it's scary.
-I have no idea what the Velcro is/where and what's it's about and every time I saw it, I really got confused.
-I saw how David's affections grew for Lauren through the story, from the beginning when they first met. Lauren's were more like a Stockholm syndrome, then gradually, you see her having her own feelings.
-There is a side love story between David's son Toni and an ex-colleague of Lauren's, Andi.
-It finishes with a bang and I loved it.

Lauren, on the cusp on turning 70, decides impulsively to retire and move from Houston to Mexico. A good story, set in beautiful Mexico, complete with romance and intrigue.
