📚 Just finished "The Sleepwalker" by Laura George and it's a gripping psychological thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat! 💥 Sam Fulford's life is turned upside down when he wakes up to find his wife dead and his baby daughter missing. 😱 Filled with shocking secrets and a sinister twist, this book kept me guessing until the very end. While some dialogue felt unnatural and I predicted one twist, the unexpected ending stayed with me long after finishing. 🕵️‍♂️ A solid debut, and I can't wait to see what this author writes next! 🌟 #TheSleepwalker #LauraGeorge #PsychologicalThriller #BookReview 📖

A good read, kept me fairly gripped and some really good twists. I wasn't too keen on Sam as a character, although I warmed to him more towards the end.

This was brilliantly twisty and completely immersive.

Sam has a sleep disorder that means he can wander whilst asleep and can unknowingly become violent.
He wakes up one day to find his wife dead and his daughter, Cora, missing.
He has no idea what happened or whether he is responsible.

I loved the plot for this, being quite unique from the other psychological thrillers I've read recently.
The writing style was great. Filled with intrigue and tension. I found it really exciting right from the start and raced through it.

This was written from different pov's and flicked between the past and present which spread out the intrigue well throughout the book. This kept us guessing who and what right to the end. Every time I thought I'd worked out a theory, something happened to change my view.

I loved Sam's character and the way he was portrayed and developed. I really felt for him and his situation. Bad enough that he has this disturbing sleep disorder, but to also lose his family and then be under suspicion for the crime.

I really loved this one and look forward to reading more from this author.

A fast paced physcological thriller that I really enjoyed. I loved that it's told from multiple points of view which makes it engaging and it cleverly goes from past to present. It's character based and has a different suprise twists and turns. I had easily guessed the perpetrator but that did not take away from my enjoyment of finding out how it would all play out. Sam has nightmares and can become violent and then he wakes up to find his wife has been murdered and there baby girl Cora is missing. What happened and where is Cora? You will have to read it for yourself to find out!

This was a really good story! I couldn’t imagine sleepwalking and not remembering where I’ve been or what I’ve done. You wake up to your wife dead in your bed and your baby daughter missing……and all you can think is did I do this??? That is what Sam is facing, he will do anything to find out where his daughter is even if that means someone will find out another secret he’s been hiding for years! This book takes you on a journey with many twists along the way! And it was a great read! Thank you NetGalley for allowing me access to this eARC!

Sam suffers from a strange sleep condition, called parasomnia, leading him to sometimes roam the house at night or even become violent.

Sam wakes up one morning to discover that his wife, Tessa, is dead. His newborn baby, Cora, is missing. The police find out about Sam's condition and instantly make him a suspect. Sam even begins to doubt himself. The plot mainly revolves around Sam wondering if he did indeed kill his wife, or if someone else is involved.

I had this one figured out at about 60% through. There was one final twist in the epilogue. Also predicted that one, but it still made for a thrilling ending! The multiple POV's/timelines lead to the "big reveal" being very easy for the reader to figure out. This book had a lot of potential. Had it been written in a different form, the reveal at the end would have been shocking and exciting. The first half of the book was super exciting, but once I had figured things out, it sort of dragged on.

The Sleepwalker begins by dangling the most obvious of red herrings. A man who sleepwalks rather violently, has a history of lashing out at his wife in his sleep and now she's dead and their baby's missing. The obvious question is, why isn't it addressed early on whether a doctor has had a look at him?

The Sleepwalker - LC George

Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

This story begins when a man with a violent sleep disorder wakes to find his wife in bed dead beside him, and his infant daughter gone. The obvious solution is that he killed both his wife and daughter, but did he?

If it sounds intriguing, then read this novel to discover the solution to this mystery.

Although this story sounds exciting, for me, it was at best "average". I found it a bit forgettable, and I lost patience with it towards the end.

Perhaps it would have been better if the action didn't occur on the first page - I had no time to develop an emotional connection to the characters ...

Until next time, sleep with both 👀 eyes open!
