This is such a fun, engaging, entertaining. Captivating story. I found Lucy and Jack relatable and captivating. I enjoyed the growth of both characters individually and in their relationship throughout the story. The main characters deal with different mental health issues, which were both handled with a depth of compassion and understanding. I loved the portrayal. The secondary characters added to the fabric of the story.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

First off I would like to extend a thank you to Netgalley, Laura Bradbury, and publishers for gifting me a copy of Oxford Star in return for my honest review. I will have to say this was a very very slow read for me as I did not understand it was part of a series. I read Oxford Wild prior to starting Oxford Star in order to have a true understanding of all the characters in the book/series.

As for the Oxford world I didn't find the story of Oxford Star as lovable as the first in its series. I found that there was just too much going on all at once. The Characters Lucy and Jack were a great addition to the cast of the Oxford series and I did love what Laura did with their story. I just felt that there was just a little too much drama for me. I will say I can't wait to see what comes next or should I say WHO comes next!
If you are into fake dating/celebrity tropes then this is for you!

Thank you to NetGalley for offering me this ARC. I have not read any of this authors books before.

I was very drawn to this book because I have lived in the city and was excited about reading about my favourite haunts in a very different way to my own experience. It didn't disappoint, it was heart warming and the descriptions and scenes set in some much love pubs were terrific.

I really warmed to Jack straight away, I don't know if that was the intention, bit he came as across very warm and likable. Lucy infuriated me straight away, I didn't know enough of the back story to want to join her in her fury for Jack, so I stuck with him.

I found the intimate scenes jarring and there was something about the timing of them and the crassness that didn't connect for me. I love a well written sex scene, but I got a bit tired of hearing about Jack's hard ons!

Overall, I liked the story, the pace and the ending was expected but enjoyable.

Over all I want to say that I liked the story and the characters and I would recommend reading this book if you are in the mood for a university setting romcom.

Jack Seary and Lucy Snow are relatable in their feelings and struggles with anxiety, expectations others have of them and how they put others before themselves. Lucy kept reminding me of Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games as she also had to take care of her mother and younger sister from a young age and having a mother who is not able to be a parent for her children.

The book starts out a little slow with meeting the characters and their backstory and meeting new people in a new place along with them but generally picks up at around the halfway mark.
The ending is rather sudden and fast paced. The plot twist is good and looking back at little (very very little) hints makes a lot of sense and is not as predictable as other stories are. However, in my own opinion it could have been built up a little more instead of being rather short scenes.

There is one thing that made me roll my eyes whenever it came up in the book:
The constant mentions of the main characters being from Newfoundland or them being Newfoundlanders. It got better as the book progressed but in the beginning there were so, so many mentions of this.

A cute little romance that touches on things that many others do not. I enjoy the lost of trust between the two and how it is possible to rebuild it.

Thanks Netgalley for ARC. This book did not disappoint. It was fantastic, a great romcom that kept my interest until the very end. I also loved the main characters and how they broached the subject of anxiety. A must read by this author!

OK, so Jack and Lucy absolutely stole my heart. The long standing history, and their mutual crushes just made my heart melt. I truly loved reading this entire book, and loved their found family at Oxford. A truly fun and engrossing read. LOVED IT.

Oxford Star was a book I randomly found scrolling through Netgalley and the COver and the Despription for sure made me curious. When I read the book I really liked it. I liked the main characters and the clique gathered around them. Positive was as well the queer representation included within the group. The main story of the book was interesting and easy to follow. The english was nice and fluently to read even for me as a non-native speaker. Therefore no problems with language in here. The only thing that I didn't quite get was what the problem between our characters was. I mean yes I understood it in terms of language but why making such a big deal out of past decision lol haha. But anyway I really liked the book. I enjoyed reading it and for sure would recommend for everyone who likes a easy cute romance.

Thank you NetGalley and Laura Bradbury for the ARC of this book!

I really enjoy the represention of anxiety and panic attacks on this book. The author write it very accurate (from someone who suffers from it too).
I would definitely recommend it to others to read.

Oxford Star is a warm hug of a romance novel, whose world I want to live in. I would love nothing more than to be a part of this college and its skulk.

While not perfect as a book, it was immensely enjoyable.

Thanks to NetGalley and Grape Books for the eBook ARC. All opinions are mine alone.

This was a pleasant contemporary romance that explores the fiery relationship between Lucy and Jack, set into the stunning backdrop of Oxford. Though overall this was an enjoyable read, I wish that there'd been more depth and motivation to Lucy and less drama between the characters. I appreciate the enemies to lovers trope, but sometimes find myself wishing for a little bit more when authors fall into this type of storytelling.

What I did love in this book was the body positivity, which wasn't brought into the book as a point of tension or controversy but instead celebrated and appreciated, particularly by Jack!

Firstly thank you to publishers for granting me this title!

Oxford Star by Laura Bradbury revolves around Jack - a star musician and singer with fame and success who suffers mentally, and Lucy - his ex girlfriend and partner who was abandoned by Jack just before their audition.

Oxford Star shows many realities to attention and a life of fame. Jack jumps on a plane to Oxford where he tries to put himself back together and regain stable mentality and Lucy is the one sitting next to him on the plane after two years without seeing one another.

I was intrigued - the unknown grudge and reason, the forced proximity and second chance. Overall a well written romance with a good subplot of representation and a good flow throughout. Whilst there was parts of the story that lacked detail and plot, it was overall a good quick romance. The writing wasn't necessarily for me, hence the rating, but still a good book.

2.5 stars.

Jack's panic attacks are written very realistically. I think he was a jerk to Lucy throughout, who deserves better than him. Their fake dating is entertaining and leads to a HEA. I liked Lucy. I think the editing could've been better because a shorter text would've really sealed the appeal that comes with the cover. Overall, it's a great romance book.

I really wanted to like this book, I loved Loved Match by the author and really enjoy her writing style but unfortunately I just could not get into it. I DNFed about 30% in.

So many of my favourite tropes done to perfection in this book, slow burn, undercover rockstars, meant to be together, ANXIETY! You love to see it

Jack and Lucy show such an instant sparks that fizzled throughout the book it had me on the edge of my seat even though I knew they'd make it because OMG they are meant to be.

The author really transports you to the surroundings of Oxford and makes it feel like home to the reader with the wonderfully imagery and scenery she creates, not only in terms of location but also with the side characters she surrounds her story with. They keep the whole story afloat and make it a really wonderful read.

With wonderful depth, humour and extra dollops of romance, Oxford Star is a treasure to read and instantly makes me want to read her whole catalogue for more of this dream book experience

The characters in this novel are well-developed and relatable. Jack's struggles with anxiety and panic attacks make him a sympathetic character, while Lucy's strength and resilience make her a character worth rooting for. The chemistry between the two is electric, and their slow-burn romance is both believable and steamy.

What makes this book stand out is the way in which it tackles serious issues such as mental health, body image, and redemption, while still delivering a fun and engaging romance. The Oxford University setting is also a refreshing change of pace from typical romance novels, and the author does an excellent job of bringing the location to life.

Jack and Lucy have some unhappy history so she is not pleased when they end up in close proximity in England. He's trying to escape his rock star life because panic attacks make the celebrity unbearable for him and his managers are exploitative. He would rather be an astronomer, so he took a break to study in Oxford. Lucy studies law and worries about her family. Her father is dead and her mother is not the most reliable sort of parent so Lucy has been the de facto family caretaker for a while now. Jack sees that she's not happy with her law studies either and encourages her to sing. This story was okay, I didn't have strong feelings about it one way or another. I liked the anxiety representation. I received a netgalley copy and this is a voluntary review.

Jack and Lucy have to be one of those couples I can honestly relate to how you feel the betrayal when you were counting on one of them to come through with something. This story isn't just a romance story but also how the main characters are always putting everyone else before them. How they will put their lives on hold or go through a path they are uncertain about to keep their loved ones content. Jack and Lucy needed each other to go through those heartbreaks and realization of the true meaning of happiness. They followed their hearts into what really mattered to them and made a point to finally put themselves first. This book was such an easy flow read. I liked how it hooked me and how I couldn't put it down. I would definitely recommend this book to my fellow readers.

This book was just fine. It had a really good premise but I feel the execution was lacking. I found myself getting bored with the characters which is never a good thing.

This was such a cute book! I am here for reluctant rock star becoming a new trope in romance books! My only complaint is that we lost the rivals to lovers element pretty early in and it didn’t really feel like there was much of an adversary in the plot. The end storyline with Cathy felt like it came out of nowhere and was there to add drama because things had been too good for our characters.
