This compilation of comics is slightly different from Nick Seluk's usual, he inserts a little more of himself here. And while I feel like reading these comics tells us so much about his thoughts, fears, and personality (and internal organs), it was really nice to see him insert more of his humanity in this one.

And honestly. If you don't adore his comics, you're a robot and we need to check your oil levels.

I've been following Nick's work for years and have always related deeply to his comics. This collection is no different. In fact, this one feels even deeper than some of the others, given what he went through and how he grappled with the consequences of some of his actions. It's a good balance of funny and insightful. There are several panels that I wanted to share with people and say "see? This is exactly what it feels like!" It's not exactly a book that makes me happy, but it makes me feel less lonely. It's a quick read and it gives you quite a bit to think about. Definitely recommend it.

When I first started seeing some of this authors comics of Heart and Brain I couldn't get enough. Super awesome to have them in book form. I love the way the author takes real issues like mental health and emotions and gives them a voice and image. I also love how each organ has each own personality. Some of these are way to real like the tongue bulling everyone into wanting foods. I would truly love to see a comic with a lactose intolerant person's organs represented.

Would recommend to anyone who loves humor and serious topics addressed.

Another excellent collection by Nick Seluk. There were so many pages in this one I wanted to share with my middle schoolers who deal with depression, loneliness, and anxiety. I can't wait to buy a copy or two to share with them, so they can see they aren't alone and that there is truly a light at the end of it all. I imagine I'll have lots of the comics hanging on my office wall. Wonderful, wonderful collection!

Thanks to Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

The illustrations were adorable and surprisingly identifiable to how most of us have been feeling these past few rough years.
I know personally that I am still dealing with the depression and anxiety of the past 4 years and my heart and mind really don't like eachother much. But this collection by Nick Seluk shows we are not alone and there will be a time our brain and heart will agree that a brighter future is possible.
Highly recommended to at least make you smile for a few hundred pages.
Thanks to @netgalley for the opportunity to read this eArc in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

4.5/5⭐️
This was such an amazing comic! I have seen this all over social media, and when I noticed a netgalley arc for it, I had to swoop in!

Nick tackles sensitive topics with lightness, straight forwardness, and cuteness. His little personal letters throughout touched my heart as a reader, although (I’m not sure if it was a formatting issue) there were many typos in them. That was distracting, but his message was clear. Heart and Brain obviously steal the show featuring other parts of the body, telling a battle of wills within reality. It’s imaginative and creative and thoroughly enjoyable. Loved it!

This book is funny and relatable while also being sweet. These comics are not meant to be entertaining but honest and emotional. If you follow the Awkward Yeti online this is very on brand.

Pretty much all the sections and comics focus on mental health and self-love, so keep that in mind. However, it's not a self-help book as much as a companion if you are going through the same.

Overall, it's a great reading experience even if a little repetitive sometimes.

I have been following this author for many years! His comics got me through undergrad and graduate school when I wanted to relax and not study anymore. I was a biology major so I always told myself it was relevant to what I was studying anyways. Sometimes his comics actually related to the topic I was studying and it helped me memorize my material better. I enjoyed reading his full book and it definitely brought me back to the days when I was cramming for school.

I really enjoy how relatable this book is for the struggle of mental health, but is not heavy because of the hilarious comics and inspirational aspects.

Thanks to NetGalley, Nick Seluk, and Andrews McMeel Publishing for this Advanced Reading Copy.

Heart and Brain: Onward to Good Things has, as it says on the cover, heart. The short comics are all funny and relatable while also being sweet and heartfelt. While I am someone who has not followed the Awkward Yeti, I have been aware of the Heart and Brain comics for a few years now and have always enjoyed the comics that I’ve seen in the past. I would recommend this to anyone; if you’re someone who follows the Awkward Yeti, someone who’s never heard of the Heart and Brain comics, or somewhere in the middle like me.

I was so excited to see a new Heart and Brain book! I've followed Nick Seluk for years and this volume was so tender and emotional. Every single comic was relatable. I absolutely loved it.

I had high hopes, but I was disappointed. Too many of the comics just sat on the page - I didn't find them insightful or funny or entertaining, merely observational (and often depressing). That the organs are so simply drawn - the Brain doesn't even have features - means the art doesn't have much to contribute. At times, the characters don't even change from panel to panel.

The subject matter is overly familiar as well - life is boring, we're anxious, shopping is not a wise distraction, we want to eat things that aren't good for us - which means I was hoping for a new take or a fresh approach or even just a punchline, which too often was missing. I didn't even want to finish the book, which is a first for me with this series.

It was a funny and tender book. The characters and the significance of the brain and heart make a wonderful dynamic pair.
100% recommended for a sweet, cute and funny time.

A lighthearted collection of comics about dealing with anxiety and general self care. I liked how Nick Seluk related Heart’s and Brain’s struggles to his own personal journey. He added depth to the jokes and showed readers that things really do get better, even if it doesn’t currently feel like they will.

This was such a cute, funny and relatable journey that I think we can all see ourselves in. Change is scary. Going after your dreams and passions is scary, especially when you don’t have a safety net. But it can also be so rewarding. What a delightful comic! Cant wait to get into the rest of this series!

An adorable anthology of one of the cutest comics I have seen.

Definitely perfect for a gift, or something to flip through when you're wanting something a little softer and cuter.

I have absolutely fell in love with Nick Seluk's Heart and Brains comics. I remember seeing these occasionally on Facebook all the time and I just love how funny and adorable they are. I feel like each one of the comics is almost exactly what goes on in my brain and maybe many others when it comes to wanting to follow your heart but your brain says think again. While they are short and simple, each comic is so hilarious when it comes to saying what are brains and hearts are actually saying. I would highly recommend this for anyone who loves little comics from upcoming cartoonists and just lovers of punny/amusing comedy.
