I received a complimentary ARC from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. First off let me say I have already followed Nick Seluk and the Heart and Brain and Friends for a long time. That being said I was super stoked to get picked to review the new book before it was published. It took me over a month to read this not because I did not love it but because I wanted to enjoy little bursts of amazing comics. So that is what I did. I really enjoy his honesty in these and how the comics are so relatable. If you haven't read more by this author definitely do that soon!a

The "Heart and Brain" comics are always whimsical truths about life. Each book has something to love, and this volume is no different. Nick Seluk continues to bring openness and honesty through the lives of his "vital" characters. They present the realities of what all of us struggle with on a daily basis in light-hearted, yet poignant ways. In each comic, the reader will find something that resonates, humors, and challenges.

I felt seen and I loved it!
Illustrations are simple but cute and they're perfect for these sarcastic scenarios. Many of them, I swear, happen in my mind every day. It was so funny to read my exact thoughts (I should say "internal fights") and I spent a lot of time smiling and giggling on those pages.
I hope people will give this book a try: it's a very well deserved 4-stars.

Content/Trigger Warnings: Depictions of mental illness, depictions & mentions of anxiety, depictions of depression

Wow, this book hit me right in my feels and think meat. There were so many panels in this comic book that hit close to home and some panels such as Heart fighting the trigger dragon, that were so relatable. Actually, I think this is one of the most relatable comic collections I've read so far. Though I'm not new to Seluk's work, this is my first time reading anything of his in a bind-up collection. I really enjoy Seluk's work because there's so many important topics being discussed like mental health.

Speaking of mental health, this was such a great collection to show that progress isn't linear especially when it comes to our mental health. How change can be scary and can have a huge impact on our mental health. I think this collection speaks volumes that to anyone who has any mental illness or just starting out on their journey, helping their mental health. Seluk's way of bringing to life a tug-o-war between Heart and Brain is such a cute, yet accurate way to show that this is how we feel and experience things sometimes. And by the end of the book, it was nice to see how all the time, effort, and love was put in, we see Heart and Brain somewhat on the same wave length as each other. You just know that even if things don't feel okay right now, they will get better and you will get on that path to better things.

Overall, I really enjoyed this collection and the topics it was addressing. I think this is such a fast pace read that addresses really important topics like work, mental health, and balance. If you're someone who finds themselves looking for discussions of mental health or looking for a new comic collection to fall in love with, then give this collection a chance! I had a lot of fun and as I mention, I always enjoy the panels the author put out!

Tiene buenas viñetas, pero creo que es muy largo, y algunas de las mismas son repetitivas, además de que tiene demasiados recuadros para una sola tira cómica.

Being a huge fan of the comic strip this was a great book. Nice coffee table read and I would recommend to anyone looking for a little laugh at the end of a busy day. Heart and brain accurately demonstrates what goes on inside someone's mind.

I’ve never felt so scene as I do within the world of Heart and Brain. How often I’ve felt or experienced many of the things these two are going through. Nick Seluk recreates many typical daily life moments in a humorous way that lets us know we are not alone in these moments. I would recommend this book to everyone. It was such a fun read that had me giggling to myself. I am plans in the near future to check out some of the other books in the series.

Cute! If you like the online comic, then this will be your cup of tea. It's funny to see our emotions represented as little characters, it helps put things in perspective and laugh at the weirdness of the human brain.

And I learned a good lesson: if I keep trying to better myself, then at what point do I actually stop and relish in the person I actually am? Thanks for the reminder!

Heart and Brain: Onward to Good Things! is a hilarious and lighthearted comic about the fight between the brain and the heart. This comic is divided into three sections with added comments by the author.

I’ve seen heart and brain comics on social media, and they always make me laugh. This comic is funny and relatable; the heart wants something, your brain wants something, and the tongue wants something else. Several organs made brief appearances.

The heart desires to be adventurous and playful, whereas the brain desires to be responsible and mindful before making any choice.

The comic has touched upon topics like anxiety, work-life balance, stress, self-care, going forward, etc. All of these are shown hilariously.

I liked the illustration; it was catchy and simple.

I would highly recommend this comic.

You probably know that these comics depict all the things the Heart and the Brain (and other organs) don’t agree upon. Truth being told, it’s hilarious and accurate at most of times ‘cause sometimes we want to follow our reckless, adventurous heart, but the mind tells us to be more thoughtful at making choices, which isn’t always the best option.

In this new comic compilation, we see the Tongue always craving for sweet food, and the Lungs trying not to be sick since the person doesn’t exercise regularly, lol.

To me, most of them were relatable situations and it ended up with a nice view of life: how we can and should find a middle ground for both Heart and Brain. Worrying and being anxious about the past and the future might stop you from fully living your life, so that’s when you gotta listen to you guts and your heart and just try to sit back and relax, enjoy the little things like a walk in the park or just having fun with your loved ones.

I know adulating is hard and we don’t really help our case by being anxious, but some cases are treatable and sometimes you just gotta accept what you have and move on. Some things will always hurt and we will probably never understand them but at least you can feel them, accept them and move on. Overcome that ache and start life anew.

I love Heart and Brain comics as long as I've seen one on social media. This hilarious collection is extremely more precious to me as a reader because the author of this book leans into the topics of mental health even more than the former volumes. Seeing them talk openly about their adhd and anxiety before jumping into the comics made the comics even more relatable. This book is for you if you just wanted a little laugh or a pick me up. This book is also for you if you wanna just stare at a page of comics and feel represented. Ultimately, this book is for you if you want to keep going with flowers of hope growing in your heart. And brain. Because that's what this book is about.

Truly, special thanks to Netgalley for this advanced reading copy.

Thank you for the EArc Netgalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing. Heart and Brain is full of reminders for those of us who may be more neurotic in life and have some anxiety about every day things. I could really relate to most of the topics in this book and I really enjoyed the illustrations. Quick, laugh out loud funny read. Being as this was my introduction to Heart & Brain will be seeking out the others in the series.

I enjoyed this set of comics featuring the heart & the brain! It’s relatable & a novel way to feel a little less alone if you struggle like we all do from time to time.

If you are at all familiar with The Awkward Yeti or Heart and Brain, you will love this book. If you're not familiar, it might seem odd at first; a comic about a heart and brain? Huh? Just wait. Give it a chance. I promise it's worth it.
The way Heart and Brain (and all the others of course) balance each other out makes this comic extremely relatable to most anyone, especially anyone who suffers from over thinking, anxiety, wanting to rush into things without thinking..... All the things that make humans, well, human.

I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest and unbiased review. That is what you are going to get!

I do not follow Nick Seluk on social media, but every once in a while one of the 4 panel comics will pop on my feed and I will laugh and/or cry at the relatability of what the heart and brain are battling with. This books illuminated so much about the struggles Nick Seluk deals with and how he rationalizes the relationship between not only his heart and brain, but many of his organs that can and do effect his mental health in one way or another. I was reading this at night and was cackling away which led to waking up my angry roommates, but ti was totally worth it. It was healing in many ways in that I felt seen by the comics which was enough to make me cry, but I was laughing as well because I had never imagined the battle being as humorous as the comic make them out to be.

I liked the way that the books was divided with different "themes" and the coordinating comics that related to the theme as well as the intro to each theme. The intros themselves were very real and made it clear that Seluk struggles but has to find humor in the horrible. Very much making light of what many would think should not be made light, especially in such a flippant manner, but it was soothing and brought me piece in a way that I was not expecting. Funny and uplifting read!
