This book gives the feel of an old fashioned private eye with the language it is written in. I was put off by the way the detective talked about the women and their bodies, and how he brushed their backsides etc…which also gave the feel of old fashioned male dominated sexism, which was countered by him having a cell phone… so I didn’t enjoy this much at all.

China Doll was your basic who done it. The story centered around Rick, a private investigator. A woman, Nikki Qwan, went to him for protection. Joe had gotten out of prison and he'd told her he was going to kill her because he believed she'd ratted him out. She had a recording stating who the culprit was and she'd given it to Rick to deliver to him. Rick went looking for Joe. When he finally found him he was dead.

Like I said, this was your basic who done it. There were several murders, including the murder of Nikki. With all the killing, there was never really any suspense or substance. There was a police lieutenant, David, and his detective, Rowdan. Their dialogue was pretty slapstick. And there was Rick's girlfriend, Sallie. In all honesty, I thought all of the dialogue was without any teeth. This book didn't keep me awake. It was bland. I liked the story line, but it was really weak. When all has been said and done, this is not a book I would recommend. I gave it one star.
