Lovely book. Really easy for my son to read himself and understand. Lots of pictures to keep younger children interested too!
This is adorable! It’s a great book for early learners. It has rhyme, varying print, and is an engaging book they will want to read. The illustrations are so cute.
A good fall read. I appreciated that this book didn't feel as if it was stuck to being one that should only be read on a specific holiday. I had alot of enjoyment reading this to my daughter. She enjoyed repeating the names of all the animals and the silly sounds. She actually had more fun reading this story about the zoo than when we actually went to the zoo in person.
WE LOVED THIS BOOK! My kids have wanted to read it over and over again. Such a perfect book for fall! My children are 3 & 2 and both loved!
Pumpkin Day at the Zoo by Susan Meissner was an absolute amazing little story.
My girls absolutely adored this fall themed read with it’s cute characters and sweet little story.
The artwork is exceptional with attention to details.
I love the fact this isn't a spooky Halloween book.
This book is a great Halloween book if you are looking for a non-scary Halloween story.

This is such a cute book! I love fall, pumpkins, and animals and have instilled that same love in my son. He really enjoyed the illustrations and the rhymes.
Fun, fun, fun. Pumpkin Day at the Zoo by Susan Meissner beautifully illustrated by Pablo Pino is a thrill of a ride throughout a zoo when the animals receive pumpkins to eat from farms. The animals are excited and pictured looking forward to the pumpkins a big treats.
Then throughout the delightful book different animals are shown enjoying their pumpkins. The otter and beaver pages were my favorites but all are spectacular.
As a farmer who grows pumpkins and knows they should never be wasted, I adored this book. It is colorful, fun, and supports sustainability. A pumpkin should never be thrown away when there are so many animals who would enjoy it! This book has the potential for an autumn classic and hopefully, many libraries can add it to their collections.
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher Harper Collins imprint for the opportunity to read and review Pumpkin Day at the Zoo by Susan Meissner.
What a fun idea for a book! Zoos and wildlife sanctuaries are often accepting pumpkins as donations. This book shows just how yummy, and how much fun, eating pumpkins can be for our animal friends. It is full of fantastic illustrations, deep in color, and full of energy. A very entertaining book for younger kids!
I’m a sucker for rhyming books. Especially about animals. Even more so when it is filled with GORGEOUS illustrations!!! It’s pumpkin day at the zoo and all the animals are excited for their fall treats!! Pumpkin Day at the Zoo was provided digitally by NetGalley and Susan Meissner in exchange for an honest review. I can NOT wait to share this beautiful book with my grandmuffin!
This was a fun book to read. The illustrations were marvelous and really helped move the story along. We see all kinds of animals enjoying this tasty treat, and no two eat it the same way. Once this day comes to a close, the animals are stuffed and thankful for being given this delicious treat.
Pumpkin Day at the Zoo is a sweet fall-themed picture book for kids about zoo animals being treated to pumpkins. It's got great rhymes and the pages are filled with fun, colourful scenes!
This is great, fun fall time story showing how all the animals of the zoo enjoy their fall treat, pumpkins. They wait and are eager for their pumpkin treats. Each animal enjoys their pumpkin in their own way.
Fun illustrations of the adorable animals having fun complete this wonderful little story. The end includes a note on how families can join in the fall fun. This story shows everyone even animals can enjoy fall I highly recommend for any classroom and home just in time for fall.
Pumpkin Day at the Zoo was a precious children's book about how zoos celebrate different seasons. The zoo gave out pumpkins to all the animals, and the book showed how much the animals also like to celebrate seasons with different items they can feast upon. The story was sweet, and the art was beautiful. I recommend this book to teachers, families, and homeschoolers to show how seasons are celebrated throughout the animal kingdom.
Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas Nelson for the complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I. LOVED. THIS. BOOK! My child loved this story. I will definitely be buying a copy of this when the book is released. Absolutely adorable!!
This is the perfect story for any animal lover. I have read this several times with my son already. The first time, we talked about the different animals. Next, the vocabulary that is used (it’s so good and lends to wonderful discussions). Than, we got to chat about what different animals eat. It’s adorable and wonderful for a fall time read!!
The animals at the zoo are in for a fun day – it’s pumpkin day at the zoo. All the animals from large to small are getting a special treat of pumpkins. This book is truly a treat for the animals and for the readers. It is fun and lyrical to read and the pictures are just adorable!
This book is truly adorable and a delight for children! My boys (ages 10, 5 and 3) were transfixed. The artwork and rhymes brought them joy. It is easy to read, easy to follow, and Autumn-themed without the "Halloween" junk that many parents seek to avoid. I absolutely appreciated the authors note at the back regarding donating pumpkins to local zoos during the fall for animal enrichment. This book will find a place on my kid’s bedroom bookshelf to be enjoyed again many times helping them learn to read.
This was the cutest book I have read so far on this app!! I absolutely loved it and my 3 year old was super excited about it. The last page about making sure to check with your local zoo about donating pumpkins was simply an amazing reminder to pay it forward and to keep the animals in mind. The illustrations were bright and colorful and very detailed. The story was cute. This is definitely a 10 out of 5 stars! Can’t wait to add it to Conor’s library!!
A cute picture book that shows what animals do with the pumpkins they get on pumpkin day at the zoo.
You've probably seen photos online of zoo animals enjoying playing with and eating leftover Halloween pumpkins. Now author Susan Meissner has turned this quirky event into a charming picture book. Told in a rollicking, rhyming style, we get to experience the joy as all manner of critters receive an autumn treat. The adorable illustrations by Pablo Pino are a perfect compliment to the text.
What a delight!
