Joe is on the run to prove his innocence after being accused a fraud impacting many people. Knowing his life is in danger he hires Sierra's Web for his protection he never expected his bodyguard to be McKenna. Now they are under the guys of husband and wife on him vacation as they look deeper into what is going on and either to prove it innocent or figure out if it really was him all along.

. I really enjoyed this book it had plenty going on to keep me interested. Joe really seemed to be a stand-up guy but is past and the paper trail that seems to be his doesn't really paint them in a great light. McKenna isn't happy working for him but will do her job, but if she finds out he really is the person committing the crime he's being accused of then she will refuse to help him. It was interesting seeing as they follow the trails of who might have been behind all of this but then there is also the part where he is also on the run and someone keeps finding him and that puts his life in jeopardy. Then there's the heat that is obviously between the two. Overall I really enjoy reading this book.

I love on-the-run romances and was excited for this one because it’s both an on-the-run and fake relationship romance. But Quinn doesn’t make much use of either trope in the usual ways that I expected. Nevertheless, On the Run with His Bodyguard, Sierra’s Web #7, is a thrilling, fast-paced read with characters that Quinn made me connect with and root for from the first scene. Quinn’s vivid description, detailed worldbuilding, and the captivating plot drew me in from the first scene, keeping me reading—excited for more. Quinn deftly develops relatable, likable, and fallible characters for this character-driven novel.

Wrongfully accused of securities fraud, tax fraud, and money laundering, Joe Hamilton hires Sierra’s Web to help prove his innocence and protect him from stalkers and people trying to kill him. Sierra sends McKenna Meredith, their best bodyguard/agent, into the field to keep Joe hidden and safe. Joe and McKenna pose as spouses on a cross-country camper vacation. But online justice seekers hunting him on and offline complicate their plans.

Joe and McKenna have fiery chemistry that evolves from their charged, sexy, sweet, and steamy interactions that also develop and progress their characters and the story. McKenna is tough, smart, strong, intelligent, a little judgmental, and relies on her instincts. Because of past trauma, McKenna prejudges Joe, taking an immediate dislike and distrust toward him that makes her reluctant to take his case. McKenna’s feelings about wealth and the wealthy are complicated. Her mother was murdered in a robbery because of her wealth, and her grandparents’ lifestyle, beliefs, and treatment of people because of their wealth are distasteful to her. McKenna frustrated me because of her treatment of Joe early on—but I got it based on her background and past experiences. However, her immediate belief in his guilt is not okay and entirely unprofessional. A good guy with integrity and honesty, Joe builds walls to protect himself from getting hurt and doesn’t trust anyone because of parental baggage/trauma. He let down his guard only to be falsely accused of financial crimes and have everyone turn their backs on him, shun him, and believe the worst of him, reinforcing his worldview. Joe’s father is a terrible parent and not a good guy. So, Joe’s looked out for himself most of his life since childhood. He wants his life back because he worked hard to build it, and it’s all he has.

Being stuck together in close quarters, Joe and Mckenna grow closer, becoming allies and friends and falling for each other, transforming them. That time on the road offers an opportunity for self-reflection and self-discovery, giving them new insight into themselves and what they want from their lives. Until McKenna, Joe’s been let down by everyone in his life. He realizes he no longer wants or needs that fake, empty society life he once led. He wants a real life with someone authentic who cares for him and loves him—the real him—and doesn’t want to use him. Joe’s situation motivates McKenna to confront her past and face and deal with issues associated with her mom’s death and her grandparents holding her back from fully living her life outside of work. She discovers her needs and dreams for her life may be different than she’s always planned.

On the Run with His Bodyguard is quite suspenseful because the villain’s identity remains unknown for most of the novel. Almost anyone could have been the person who framed Joe and committed the crimes with which he was charged. However, I’m not sure Quinn laid the foundation firmly enough for whom the villain turns out to be. The depth of the conspiracy behind framing, finding, pursuing, and trying to kill Joe is frightening in its complexity and heinousness. Though it’s an enjoyable and captivating read, I would’ve preferred more on-the-page action scenes and exploration of the steam and heat that flared between Joe and McKenna through their conversations and interactions. Still, Quinn deftly constructs the included action scenes with vibrant descriptions and detail.

I like Quinn’s narrative and storytelling style and may check out more books in the series and other books she’s written. On the Run With His Bodyguard is a sweet, steamy, sexy, suspenseful, and fast-paced romance with a bit of action that explores themes of trust, family baggage, letting go of the past, following your dreams (even when they change), and making a new fresh start.

Terrific book that kept me engaged from start to finish. The story is fast-paced and intriguing. I loved Joe's unwavering insistence that he was innocent and willing to do whatever was necessary to prove it.

Joe was the CFO of a large software company when accusations of fraud cost the company millions of dollars in losses. He was tried but found not guilty (not innocent) because the prosecution couldn't prove that he was responsible. Investors lost vast amounts of money, and Joe has received threats since his release. He hires Sierra's Web to find the evidence that will prove his innocence and accepts their insistence that he take a bodyguard to keep him safe.

McKenna has been working as a bodyguard for years. Her appearance is deceptive, which has proved advantageous in the past - I loved the story of her "interview" with the head of Sierra's Web. She is focused and determined. Their cover is that they are a married couple sightseeing by RV.

The first meeting between Joe and McKenna is awkward. He is initially skeptical of her qualifications, and McKenna has a long-standing dislike of wealthy people whose sole focus is on making more money. She is familiar with his story and doesn't believe he is innocent, though she swears that won't keep her from doing her job. There is a power struggle between them until they work out their differences. I liked that Joe trusted her capabilities and agreed to follow her lead.

There is tension between Joe and McKenna from the start. Some of it is the question of guilt vs. innocence, and more of it is the simmering attraction that neither wants to admit. Despite the accusations against him, Joe is honorable and will never make uninvited advances toward her. Forced into 24/7 proximity and struggling to stay ahead of those chasing Joe, McKenna's determined distancing from Joe doesn't last long. I liked seeing them get to know each other better as little bits of their backstories emerged. We learn why McKenna has such a problem with rich people and why Joe is so focused on accumulating wealth.

Their attraction continues to grow, accelerated by the occasional need to get physically close. Because of their differing lifestyles and outlooks starting something could only end in heartbreak. But when the case is over, will they be able to go their separate ways without regret?

The suspense of the story was excellent. Joe has been trying to figure out who set him up on his own and has accumulated an impressive amount of meticulously organized information. Even though he gives the information to the people at Sierra's Web, he ponders the problem himself. It becomes evident that someone out there doesn't want him unearthing the truth, and the efforts to find him are intense. It seems they can barely keep one step ahead of their pursuers, leading them to believe there may be a leak somewhere. I loved McKenna's solution of a safe place to go and laughed out loud at her surprise over his method of "hiding." When the final confrontation came, I wasn't shocked at who it was, but I was surprised by the level of their hands-on involvement. I liked how it went down - go, McKenna! - and that Joe was part of it, too.

I loved the ending and the changes that Joe and McKenna experienced during their time together. I hope they show up in later books, as I'd love to see how their lives turn out.

I enjoyed the connection between this book and the author's Shelter Valley series. It's always lovely to catch up on the lives of past characters.

Tara Taylor Quinn is an amazing writer and I loved this book. The Sierra’s Web series is great, but don't be intimidated, you can start this series with any book, but once you read one - you are going to want to read them all.

I thought this book was fine. The female body guard was cool but i didn't care for the writing. The romance was like another romances. I thought the mystery part was interesting enough to finish the book.

This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 7th book in the Sierra's Web series. I have read one other book in this series before reading this book, but I think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I think both the main characters in this book take a little while to warm up too, and It took me until their backstory was starting to be revealed for me to really connect to them. This book is a super fast paced book with a ton of action and suspense. The romance was not the best, but I really loved the ending. I found this book to be an enjoyable read. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Romantic Suspense) or author (Tara Taylor Quinn) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

The difference between iinnocent and not guilty...

A very well written, suspenseful forced proximity read. Joe is trying to prove he's inocent at all costs. Oh, and stay alive in order to do so. He takes the steps to hire Sierra's Web, who sends him McKenna as his bodyguard. She's very, very good at her job, and is up front and honest about her dislike for a shady charcter like Joe. They have chemistry, an RV and are on the run from baddies from the dark web out to stop Joe from proving he didn't do the crime.

I liked that they were in an RV and how well thought out the plot was, keeping the suspense high and intensifying it with attarction, despite or maybe because of, Joe's knobby knees.
Recommend.
