When Verity Casmere’s sister, Ashlee, goes missing, Verity is certain she knows who’s responsible for Ashlee’s disappearance, but there’s no evidence backing it up. Knowing that she’s dying, Verity has nothing to lose and will stop at nothing to get the answers she seeks. When Verity and Dale Carmot end up in the hospital after a fall from a rooftop, each blames the other and Forensic Psychiatrist, Oscar de la Nuit, is called in to determine who is telling the truth. As the truth is revealed everyone is taken by surprise, especially Oscar! While everyone in the book was surprised, this reader saw it coming, but it didn’t make the book any less enjoyable! Thank you to TBR Press and NetGalley for an ARC of this book.

this was actually a good whodunit with a very novel setup for urgency. I generally liked the characters - every one has flaws, and they all have a deeper impact on those around them than you'd expect. I take issue with is the behavior of a therapist/psychologist that accuses and leads his subject - that goes against everything in the psych handbook. Ah, well, the story was still very complex, and the conclusion surprising. A twisty read that was fully engaging! Quite a twisty and shocking ending, I couldn’t quite believe how it all came together.

I discovered that this book was part of a series halfway through but decided to keep reading anyway. It was easy to understand and flowed seamlessly. The fast pace of the book kept me hooked and on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed the alternating perspectives of Verity and Oscar in each chapter. Verity, who was terminally ill and had lost her sister, was a challenging character to connect with due to her risky decisions, but Oscar was a favourite of mine. The characters were well-crafted and seemed authentic. The unique concept of the book caught my attention, and I enjoyed how it differed from other books I've read. I received an advance copy from NetGalley and provided an honest review.

Urgency is the prevalent theme.
Verity doesn’t have a lot of time left so she desperately needs to find out what happened to her sister.
Oscar can assist, but his time with Haley May be shorter than he realizes.
It’s a fast paced read. I was not expecting the villain to be so close to one of the main characters.
Timing was everything and with just minutes to spare my heartbeat returned to normal.

One of the many few thrillers I’ve read!

At first I didn’t realise that this book was apart of a series (being the second book) I very nearly stopped to retrace but I decided to carry on with this one and felt like it flowed well and I had no confusions to the plot during reading this book!

The story focuses on a women who has been told she has terminal cancer but despite this cannot help digging into the mystery of her sisters missing.

The book is based on then and now and at first I was worried I would get lost or fall into a reading slump with the switching of each chapter but it was super easy to follow along with and didn’t affect the grip of this book!

I’d recommend this book to all my fellow thriller lovers who are in the mood for a gripping, edge of your seat kind of book!

This book starts, with already knowing the killer but Is he really the killer, is the question.

This book takes place in present and past. Verity is dying of cancer, and her sister went missing a couple of months ago, and Veritys dying wish is to find out what really happened to her sister.

The book is told in Veritys and Oscar's Pov, who is a retired psychologist. This book was really interesting to read, the secret in the end threw me off my gurd, like I was set on who was really the killer but I was apparently wrong. The characters are toreable, the writing is easy to go through.

Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a eARC in exchange of a honest review.

OK WOW. This did not disappoint.

When You’re Dying is an extremely fast paced, intriguing book! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and did not want to put it down!

This story follows Verity - who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer - who just wants to find out what happened to her missing sister. & BOY does her digging get her into some sticky situations.

While this is the second book in the series, I didn’t read the first and didn’t feel there were any plot holes or confusion during the read.

I was semi worried at first that the then and now switches every chapter would turn me off to the book, but it absolutely didn’t. I was hanging on every single word that the author was giving us.

Definitely pick this one up if you’re in the mood for an edge of your seat thriller.

I'm not really even sure why I finished this one, but I did. I thought the plot was ridiculous and I didn't really have any connection with any of the characters. The writing felt choppy and didn't flow.

Even though this is a second book in a series, it worked fine as a standalone and made me want to read the first. Highly recommend this mystery and will watch for more in the series.

This was a really good story, a fun read! Some parts of the book were overlong, but all in all a fun ride! I loved the characters and it was a wild ride seeing how everything turned out! Quite a twisty and shocking ending, I couldn’t quite believe how it all came together.

I picked this title from NetGalley because I AM dying. However, Verity, the dying girl has a much different story from mine. For one thing, she has terminal cancer. Her sister. Ashlee, has been missing for some time, and Verity has sworn to herself to find Ashlee before she dies. So this is, primarily, the story of her investigation. You probably won't suspect the real guilty party.

I received a free copy of, When You're Dying, by MQ Webb, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Verity is giving a shocking diagnosis, before she dies she wants to find out what happened to her missing sister Ashlee. This was a really cool read, I enjoyed trying to figure out who did it.

This was a quick read that held my attention && I didn't even know it was #2 in a series .
#whenyourdying is a great read about lengths you go to for answers when you have nothing left to lose . ALOT of characters & pov's but they come together nicely .

Thank you #Netgalley & Book sirens for the Arc 🖤

Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ebook for my honest review.
Good, fast paced thriller with multiple twists and a plot that brings several characters together at the end.
Definitely needs additional editing due to multiple grammatical errors and missing words throughout the entire book.

Loved being thrown back into the world of Dr Oscar De La Nuit. Loved it from the start, after finishing How to spot a psychopath, I didn't realise how much I missed Oscar! This story has action from the get go, Verity is on the hunt for her sister's kidnapper, she knows she has the right person but will she find out the truth before it's too late? Time isn't on her side and she wants justice for her sister and closure for both of them.

Loved the twists, didn't see them coming and a perfect way to end the next book, full of surprises and action. Loved it! I love the author's writing style and I'm hooked early on!

"She had been right to think he was crazy". Verity Casmere is convinced Dale Carmot is responsible for the unknown whereabouts of her sister, Ashlee. The uber-successful Dale was one of the last people seen with Ashlee the night she went missing. Months later, Ashlee has still not been found, Verity is facing a grim prognosis and decides to take matters into her own hands. Is she right? Is he really the crazy one?

New to M.Q. Webb's writing, I was instantly drawn to this book because of its name. What would you do if faced with a terminal illness? Would you lay down and wait for death to come and take you? Would you live fully? Would you sort out loose ends? Verity chose to make it her mission to find out what happened to her sister. She knew her sister would never leave on her own accord, especially considering Verity had already received a diagnosis. So, she followed Dale. Little did she know Dale was essentially following her as well, and what resulted was the another beginning to the mystery. Psychiatrist Oscar de la Nuit is back. This time trying to solve what happened when Verity and Dale connected. He's brought in to find out who is lying.

Webb writes from the perspectives of Verity and Oscar. They take us back in time to when Verity decides to follow Dale, and then brings us back to the present with Oscar being brough in by his mentor, Caroline, to help on the case. In the meantime, Oscar is trying to divide his attention to his ailing father, his relationship, and dealing with the sudden reappearance of the mother who abandoned him and his long-lost brother, Steve. What the reader doesn't know is how intertwined Oscar and Verity's lives have become and what will result from this.

This book was a quicker, easy read. It may have been a little slower to start than I would have liked, but it picked up and kept me reading for more. The truth of what happened to Verity's sister was obvious, but not. The realization of who was responsible for what happened to her was very obvious, sooner than I would have liked. However, I loved how Webb disguised the perpetrator. In fact, my favorite part of the book was when I had no idea actually what was going on, still thought someone else was responsible, and the bad guy was right there all along.

I loved Webb's different Pov's. Verity was a tough character to connect with. Not because I didn't feel sorry for her between losing her sister and being given an essential death sentence, but because I wanted to yell at her for being a fool. Oscar, meanwhile, was someone I couldn't help but want to meet the equivalent of in my own life. Such a calm, caring, forgiving man. In the end, though, I felt that both were given some kind of "second chance" at life.

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free, electronic ARC of this novel received in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, while it is a sequel it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. I did pick up on the twist quite early this time though - maybe I am just understanding this authors work a bit better. I look forward to reading more about Oscar De La Nuit’s cases in the future. One downfall of this novel was the amount of mistakes in spelling and grammar, I definitely think it could go through another round of editing to clean it up a bit more.

This is the 2nd book of Oscar de la Nuit series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good. What a complicated case without Oscar realise everyone around him involve. There is family drama too. Im curious about Oscar and Hayley relationship next.

Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

The second book in a psychological thriller series, When You Are Dying by M. Q. Webb features Oscar de la Nuit, a forensic psychiatrist. This time, Oscar must determine who is telling the truth after a man and woman fall from a rainy rooftop, with each blaming the other. Verity Casmere has terminal cancer and is desperate to know what happened to her sister who has disappeared, whom the police suspect was murdered. She believes Dale Carmot is responsible and is determined to solve what happened while she still can. An intriguing web of unfolding events and characters that despite an unsurprising finale, makes for a tension-building three stars and a half stars read rating. With thanks to TBR Press and the author, for an uncorrected advanced review copy for review purposes. As always, the opinions herein are totally my own and freely given.
