I found this book slow going to start with, but, once I got into it, I finished it in a morning. I worked out who it was a couple of pages before it was revealed. If you also find it slow, in my opinion you should keep going because, when the plot gets going, it's a really good book and I enjoyed it

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

This is the second book in the series and is just as good if not better. Dr. Oscar de la Nuit's further adventures And verity trying to find out what really happened to her sister draws you in and spits you out. With the shock of her diagnosis things that she wouldn’t normally do, are easier. How that holds out while tracking a killer will leave you on the edge of your seat.

This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Thanks to the publisher and the author. The main character, who has Cancer, is trying to solve the mystery of her sister before she dies. This is a sad novel that reads, at times, like nonfiction. Trying to determine the outcome is pretty much not possible. It is not easy. This talented author has written a book that is difficult to put down. The other characters are realistic, as is the protagonist, and they would be great in a television show. This is quite unique in that the main character is trying to finish solving the mystery before she dies. This is unusual.

Loved loved loved! A quick read woth a fast paced plot this kept me guessing til the end. It was probably one of the few occasions that I literally had absolutely no idea what was going on or who could be trusted and I loved every second of it. It also felt like quite a great concept and not something I'd read a dozen other versions of already so that was also a nice change!

Forensic Psychiatrist, Oscar de la Nuit is once again portrayed brilliantly in Book 2 of the series. A well written story that keeps you on edge and speculating on the outcome right up to the explosive finale. A great read that is highly recommended and worthy of five stars. Patiently waiting for the next book in the series.

This book was *chefs kiss*. A thriller that kept me guessing, had me on the edge of my seat since page 1, and had some absolutely SHOCKING twists. I loved Verity & Oscar - as the narrators of this story, I felt like I was experiencing the confusion and trauma of the plot along with them. There were points where I didn’t trust anyone, including Verity, and was unsure if this was all a simulation of some kind lol. Webb is masterful at flipping between past and present scenes, blending together a story that culminates in a shocking revelation and made me question every detail that came before it. It was gripping, heartbreaking and deeply troubling. Lastly, I was unexpectedly moved by how this story was ultimately accented by the delicacy of relationships, sibling bonds and familial trauma. Read this when it comes out!

Verity is dying from cancer, but before she dies she’s determined to find out what happened to her missing sister Ashlee. Instead of leaving things to the cops, who seemed to have written off the case for lack of evidence, she aggressively pursues the suspected kidnapper. When that backfires, she’s puts herself in danger again.

This was a quick read with a fast-moving plot.

Thanks to NetGalley, TBR Press, and Hidden Gems Books for an advance reader’s copy.
