I got a copy of this knitting stitch dictionary from Net Gallery. From looking at other reviews, I'm not sure if I received the entire book.
That said, what I did see were some amazing colorwork designs that were a lot of fun. I am not sure if it is the way the book was downloaded on to my iPad through Kindle, but some of the breaks in the pattern directions did make it hard to read. I am guessing this is just the nature of the download and wouldn't be the case in the actual book. I did see a lot of designs I could imagine knitting on mitts or a hat. Super fun and cute!

Even though this was just a sample of the book, I can tell it has potential and I am excited to read it when it is published.

This is a partial review of KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary in NetGalley.

I’m quite looking forward to reading the full version. I was drawn in strongly by the way the author is explaining the yarn choices In the first chapter but, sadly, it cut off after the first page spread. I’m very interested to see how that plays out.

The pattern charts are a standard knitting chart. The designs that were included are very cute and would be applicable to a variety of projects. I cannot fully evaluate the patterns or projects without test knitting them, but they appeared to be well written.

I was pleased to see that the projects are #sizeinclusive and adaptable.

For what I have seen, the book looks like 5 stars. This opinion may change once I have seen the whole book. I’m unclear on why it was sent out for review with only two pages of the first chapter.

This stitch dictionary is a really solid entry into any knitter or knitting designer's library. It contains a number of simple and complex stitches that could easily be incorporated into various patterns. The variety of colorwork works for kids to adults, with many different motifs and clear instructions and charts. I could imagine using a number of them for fun hats and mittens, or incorporated into larger projects.

Thank you to NetGalley for a partial preview of this book! This is a really great and easy to use resource for knitters! The pictures are bright and colorful, the charts are easy to read, and the patterns included are well written!

My feedback is based on a partial preview vs. Complete book.

The author details yarn choices, techniques and color dominance in stranded knitting, which is useful. Charts are straight forward and seem to be divided by category e.g. leaf, flower etc...

There was one pattern. Incl. In the preview for a toque and instructions for this were clear. Over this book may male a good reference book.

Such a handy book to have available. I use it often when starting a new pattern. Something that should be in every knitter's arsenal.

I was given only a partial sample of the book. From what was sent, the pictures are really nice. Some of the charts were given and they are really nicely laid out. The one pattern they give using one of the samples is a hat which I kind of want to cast on right away. There are notes on how to pick the right yarn for colorwork. According to the Table of contents there are many patterns to choose from grouped in categories to help pick one. If you are a colorwork fan this is a great resource.

This book looks like a really good one. I am a little bit sad though that this is just a preview – I was promised the whole book to review, but somehow that never happened. If that ever changes, I will gladly update my review with my opinion regarding the full contents of the book.
Meanwhile, just looking at the tiny preview, the book looks great. It holds the promise of many new and beautiful stitches, and this is what most knitters are always looking for – more new stitches/motifs, something new, something unique, something that inspires you to go look at your yarn stash and pick up the knitting needles.

A great resource for every knitter's library! Thank you to Penguin Random House, Interweave and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a sample edition.

This book is great for any knitter who is confident enough to make their own patterns, but still needs some help with colorwork. I can work up a hat pretty well, but if I want a fun colorwork section this is the book I turn to. I have used this author's previous book to make quite a few projects and they have all come out with great definition and you can clearly see the pattern.

This review is for a sample of the book I received. Several really inter and fun patterns were in the sample and I’m looking forward to seeing more when the full book is available. They are well written and look easy to follow even if you’re a relatively new knitter. I think this book will be a great resource to have in my library and I think it will be valuable to ambitious new knitters and experienced knitters alike.

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House, and Andrea Rangel for an advanced sample of the book.

Andrea Rangel's KnitOvation stitch dictionary is full of fun, simple motifs that can be used in many projects.

I was only able to review a sample of this book. The book sample included twenty motifs, choosing yarn for colorwork instruction, and a pattern for a Domed Toque using one of the geometric patterns in the collection. The motifs included in the sample are simple leaf and flower motifs. All pictures are clear and I really liked being able to enlarge photos in this digital copy to get a look at the knitted samples to compare with the charts. The section on choosing yarn is great for knitters who may not be experienced with why certain yarns are better for colorwork than others. The hat pattern is complex enough to be fun for experienced knitters, but not out of bounds for new guys. The pattern uses a crochet-provisional-cast-on and Andrea provides a link to the tutorial on her page.

I'm an avid knitter. I've accumulated quite a few knitting books (sooooo many stitch dictionaries). I'm excited to add this one to my bookshelf.

Thanks to NetGalley and PRH publishers for allowing me to review this sample in exchange for an honest review.

This was really short. And I’m not sure if that’s because this is just a sample or if this is the full book. The book had one full pattern, which was for a hat at the end. Most of the book is a sample of repeating patterns, and why I think this might not be the full book is some of the patterns in the beginning, or not actually in the book. For example, on the table of contents page, it shows ducks and horses and dragons and that’s not in the pages presented. I am assuming that this is not correct, and that this is only chapter 1, because even the chapters don’t have page numbers, and based entirely just on the table of contents most of this book is missing.

I am really looking forward to checking out the full copy of the book! From the preview, it looks like there are lots of fun patterns (from plants to geometric to animals) and the pattern that was included in the preview is well written and easy to follow! If you're looking for some colorwork inspiration and some extra knitting knowledge, this book would be a wonderful addition!

Thanks to NetGalley, Penguin Random House, and Andrea Rangel for an advanced copy of the book. All thoughts in this review are my own.

This was a great knitting stitch with many that I’m familiar with and others I wish to learn how to do. If you’re looking to build on your knitting this is a great book to have in your arsenal of Knitting books. Thanks for allowing me to read the net galley. Wish I had the book for keepsakes!

KnitOvation Stitch Dictionary was a quick little read that included several colorful stitch patterns. The patterns were wicked cute, but I would caution that this book seems more like a tool for the more experienced knitter!

Super cute colorwork patterns! Rangel gives a great sampling of different motifs for any knitter to apply to their projects, and even gives you some patterns to try them out on. In addition, in the introduction to this book, Rangel gives a brief note about the relationship between fiber type and colorwork. This book would be great reference for any crafty knitter or knitwear designer!
