First of all, I love this cover and title; it is initially what attracted me to this book. I read the synopsis and found it intriguing! The book has parallels stories which I love! It starts off with Lizzy a waitress in the small town of Turkey Pen, Alabama, which I had never heard of before, but loved reading about and imagining what this little town would look and feel like. The author does a great job of transporting me there. Then we meet Ian and his wife Beth who are in a cabin somewhere in the woods in upper state New York, which gave me Dexter: New Blood vibes. Imagine being surrounded by lakes and Jagged Adirondacks and a possible predator on the loose.
I enjoyed reading this book and did not once venture off into daydream land, which I do when a book loses my interest: This one did not disappoint! The plot was solid and had a bit of a twist that you may not see coming.

The only critique I would give is that it took way too long for Beth and her husband to find that there is someone else in the cabin. Although Beth feels someone is there and voices it to her husband (who takes it lightly), it takes many chapters for anything to really emerge; however, when it does, it is quite the wild ride, and all the puzzles' pieces begin to fit!

I don't want to give even one word away. Just read this. It is insane and so good!

And the ending is pure madness.
I am never going to recover.

Also if man throws out all your clothes turn and run away.

Emily Shiner is one of those authors who can have me yelling at my Kindle within a few chapters!

“Well done, wife. You’re becoming more perfect every moment you’re married to me.”

Here’s what I loved:
✔️every page hums with tension
✔️author has mastered careening, so I kept turning pages
✔️atmospheric and threatening, with ominous signs facing the protagonist at every turn
✔️a gullible girl down on her luck
✔️a GQ guy with ulterior motives
✔️a desperate couple
✔️an eerie and isolated cabin
✔️author taps into her characters’ heartbeats, making tension palpable
✔️fast-paced
✔️full of conflict and suspense
✔️unexpected twists
✔️kept me on the edge of my seat
✔️secrets - when someone is holding one over another person
✔️a character who finds inner strength

I’m not giving anything away - just know that I felt like I was watching one of those movies where the music tells you that it’s time to cover your eyes because something you won’t want to see is about to happen. I read the cues, I continued on anyways. My heart is still beating this morning!

Fantastic. Fantastic. Fantastic.

Emily Shiner does not disappoint.

I was gifted this copy by Inkubator Books and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.

Short chapters that bounce from from character to character, this was an easy read that kept you engaged in the story. Emily Shiner did a great job painting a picture in my mind as her story developed. Many times while reading I caught myself making faces at what I was reading, making comments aloud to the actions taking place and my skin crawling at the events or comments being made.

Beth thought she’d escaped her past. But all this time, it’s been waiting for her…

This book had me guessing until the very end! The short chapters and constant POV switch kept the pace moving and the characters were written in a way that it felt like you were there with them. The suspense built up the entire book and the ending was completely unexpected. I will definitely be recommending this to other domestic thriller lovers!

You Can't Hide by Emily Shiner is another compulsive read from this popular author, and I flew through the pages in a few enjoyable hours.

Beth and Ian are desperate for a child of their own, so much so that they are willing to sell the family cabin to pay for IVF. Upon arrival they meet Ryan, a caretaker who is not what he seems. Ryan, in fact, knows Beth's secrets, and threatens to expose all if she does not comply with his diabolical demands. Beth knows that she must do whatever it takes to protect herself, no matter how extreme the measures.

You are guaranteed to race through this cleverly plotted, multiple POV narrative.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC.

This was a great thriller, reminding me a lot of "Behind Closed Doors" by BA Paris. Would've been a 5 star read for me, but the ending was slightly underwhelming in my opinion. Definitely still a favorite and I would recommend to other thriller lovers!

This book just kept me on the edge of my seat from the beginning until the end with great characters and with a brilliant ending.

4.5⭐️ — it’s so good to be back to psycho mind and read this sort of story. I was amazed that these 2 characters' POVs did not affect me at all on the storyline and confused me. It makes me wonder throughout the storyline especially the truth all over. This book questioned me ALL the damn time about what would happen next and who is who and which is telling the truth? Also, the psycho mind of the characters in this book is written too damn well, and that cliffhanger at every end of the chapter give me frustrated. A page-turner indeed and hardly can put this book down. Definitely going to see the author's work in the future!
