This series has been very spicy! This book did not disappoint with wallflower Jane and Christopher, a Duke with face blindness.

There was a lot of figuring out who is trying to blackmail or harm them. Jane has her secret pamphlet idea that was stolen and someone keeps trying to kill the Duke. The pair meet after Jane sneaks into one of the Duke's wild parties and tries to take an expensive book.

This book is initially a marriage of convinenence, but gets really hot as they fall for eachother. Oh the armory scene, I will leave it at that.

As far as who was behind trying to kill Christopher, I has a strong suspicion the whole book, but was fun trying to figure out when the characters would get there. This was a good series and each book didn't really depend on the others. The best part about all of the book has been the depth of the characters in being not how they appear on the surface. Book club ladies for the win!

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

Amy Rose Bennett's writing is so good! I enjoyed Tall, Duke and Scandalous. I've read the other two great books in this series and this may be my least favorite, it was just a little too dark for me! It was a bit too much of too many dark things-- assaults that render someone face blind, scarred faces, blackmail, attempted murder... and then a marriage will save everything! It is a little bananas but the author makes it work, Jane and Christopher have good chemistry and I always love a heroine that has a bookstore! I enjoyed the writing, the story although outlandish was an entertaining read.

Tall, Duke and Scandalous in the 3rd in the Byronic Book Club series based on three women who have been friends for years. This is the story of Jane Delaney who is intelligent, spirited and desperate to make positive difference in the lives women lead in the world around her. she is scarred from an accident, so she resigns herself to living the life of a spinster. She works with her grandfather in the family bookstore, and I love the inclusion of books, family libraries and bookstore since I am a retired librarian! Jane is an FMC who keeps her feelings closed to those around her, thinking she can handle all her personal and family problems by herself, setting the stage for the guilt and conflict that develops and damages their trust throughout the book.

Major Christopher Marsden, now the Duke of Roxby, is considered a libertine who doesn't take his proper place in society seriously. When Jane meets him in his library, he is a mysterious, handsome but unpleasant man. As their story unfolds, we discover a complex man with an urgent dilemma. He sees Jane one who can assist in his investigation, and makes a surprising offer based on his recent amnesia. Jane's reaction is not of pity but of empathy and is so true to her character.

The amnesia trope is not an unfamiliar plot line but, in this book, we are introduced to a not well-known kind of amnesia. It turns the " I don't know who I am" trope into a fascinating affliction that steers the story. When you read Tall, Duke and Scandalous, you'll understand why I found it so intriguing.

This was a fun read that included witty, humorous banner, irresistible attractions and a touch of danger. Amy Rose Bennet writes well developed, engaging characters, both main and supportive, who live true to themselves. The sensual encounters are beautifully written and full of steam. I can be read as a stand-alone, but I would recommend reading them in order, one after another! I really enjoyed it and am already looking forward to reading her next book!

I had to google "Facial Blindness". Its a thing! And the hero of the book, Christopher suffers from it. He can't remember faces, except for Jane's. Jane's stubborn independence is almost her downfall. She will marry the Duke to get his help, but she won't ask for him to help her with her blackmailer.

Overall, this was an entertaining novel. Its a great summer historical romance, perfect for whiling away an afternoon in a shady place with a cold drink.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoy this author and this series has been so fun and sweet! I’m so glad I was able to read this one! Jane is so deserving of a love story! I thought this one was so unique with how our hero, Roxbury had some memory loss. He wanted help to find out what happened for him to lose it & to be able to trust someone. Jane is hard working but has a blackmailer so she needs money. Roxbury proposes a marriage of convince to help solve both of their problems! Seeing as he caught Jane trying to steal a valuable book from his personal library! This book really had lots of mystery & romance! I enjoyed it so much! I can’t wait to see what’s next from the author!

Jane Delaney loves her grandfathers bookstore. Her mom has a gambling problem. Walking home one night she comes across a private party and somehow manages to say the right password to get in. Walking through the home, she comes across a library. Seeing a very rare book that would solve all her problems, she tries to steal it. Unbeknownst to her, Christopher Marsden, the Duke of Roxby, is watching the theft unfold in his library. Catching her red handed, he offers her a proposition. Roxby can’t remember faces due to his facial blindness. Help him catch whoever is trying to kill him and he will pay off her mother’s debts.

I enjoyed the chemistry Bennett gave her two characters from the beginning. They both had scars and needed someone to trust. At first it was a marriage of convenience; but Roxby and Jane learned quickly they had to trust each other. Through this trust grew a friendship and ultimately love. Amy Rose Bennett hit it out of the park again. I can’t wait to see what Bennett writes next.

Owing to her mother's gambling, Jane finds herself desperate for money. After an unexpected meeting with the rakish Duke of Roxby, he offers a marriage of convenience if she'll help him find out who's trying to kill him. Passion ignites between the newlyweds, but will secrets from her past separate them?

This book is a lot of fun, with likeable but flawed characters. There's a lot going on in the plot, without taking the focus off the romance.

Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.

Jane we love from this series as the book seller but we learn she is getting blackmailed. She walks into a Duke’s party after her mother leaves her at others only to have her world turned upside down with the Duke. This marriage of convenience romance has a turn to it when the Duke can only recognise his new wife- she must also be his eyes while they try to find his attempted murder. We get a bunch of mystery and fun storylines with the book club trio. These two have to work through trust issues while also learning from each other. Flames happen!

Just loved this series so much!!!! SO good with leading ladies and Dukes that fall in love with them. We get mystery- fast paced books with great plots!

This one started off stronger for me than it ended, unfortunately, but there’s still a lot to love about the Byronic Book Club! I really enjoyed Jane and Christopher’s steal-cute in the library, and the tension between them was excellent. What usually works so well for me in marriage of convenience books was on fire here, between these two immediately giving into lust without shame to both being too afraid to step out on that ledge when it came to deeper feelings entering the equation. I’d love to see more in this world (maybe a romance for the investigator in his own right?), but while this wasn’t my favorite book of the series to date, it still made for a strong and captivating read that I wanted to find every excuse to return to every time I put it down.

I really enjoyed this novel, the third in Amy Rose Bennett's Byronic Book Club series, which finds Jane Delaney, a scarred, bluestocking heroine finding her own happily-ever-after with Christopher Marsden, the scandalous Duke of Roxby. Both Jane and Christopher are likable characters, and when they come together, their passion (and LUST) is insatiable and searing. It is definitely a spicy read, although I did feel like it was a little over the top toward the end, with flavors of Bridgerton (sex on the stairs, in the library, on the desk, and in the carriage) and other romance stories. All bases and spaces were well-covered by these two lovebirds, but it didn't really add more to the story because we are already aware how much these two feel for each other and are drawn together by their attraction.

Also, for me, at just over 400 pages, there were parts of the story that felt a little redundant, particularly when Jane is feeling guilty, and Christopher is struggling with issues of trust. There are only so many times that Jane can offer that it is all her fault, when really it takes two people to create and/or respond to a situation. In my opinion, some of these parts could have been edited down or perhaps eliminated. I didn't want Jane to chant her "mea culpa's" as much as she did. And for me, it took them way too long to admit that they loved each other. Both of them are such strong personalities and characters that it seemed as if they would have had more courage to express how they felt earlier than they did in the novel.

That being said, I loved when they reconciled and were able to work together as a team. I also loved how the MC's from the previous two books in the series, Dominic and Artemis (Book 1) and Will and Lucy (Book 2) reappeared and came to the aid of both Christopher and Jane in this story. They are all really lovely characters, and of course it was delightful to see the gang back together and expanding its ranks. The epilogue is really heartwarming and sweet - and it's gratifying that by the end, Jane's scars, both external and internal, are no longer visible to the reader. I almost completely forgot she had a prominent facial scar from an previous injury.

Things that I would have like to see in this story but which didn't appear include: the reappearance of Miles Dempster (who looms ever large in Jane's past and her psyche), if only to allow Jane to show that cad what he was missing and to provide her with some agency in terms of her past with him. Letting her have the last word would have been welcome, since we see so many people from Christopher's past and resolution of those relationships. I also wanted a better understanding of Mr. O'Connor's character. He's Featherstone's cousin, and Featherstone is a trusted friend/valet to Christopher. That Mr. O'Connor goes from being capable and respected (and helps Jane ultimately) to being dodgily dismissed didn't feel quite right to me for his arc in the novel.

All in all, I found this story to be a really enjoyable read, with vivid characters who are lovable yet hardheaded and flawed! I'm glad they were able to get their act together and have their very happily-ever-after at the end!

Another wild edition of The Byronic Book Club. This series has a foundation in the powers of friendship and the people you allow close. This of course leads to the most meaningful friendship, that of husband and wife. I love that Jane and Christopher’s attachment while starting in a place fully of lust, quickly blooms into an honest friendship first. They learn to rely on each other long before their hearts come into play. This leaves the door open for forgiveness when hurts inevitably occur, and while they are both scarred inside and out, the love they grow is clear to everyone but them. The struggles they face to embrace those tender feelings make for a compelling story in amidst a constant turmoil with the threat to Christopher’s life. A true gothic mystery it is filled with shock & awe, passion and misunderstandings. This story took me forever to finish simply because I did not want it to end and so drew the process out to savour each nuance. Amy Rose Bennett writes a delightful story with strong feminine heroines and loyal, supportive heroes that make you blush. A must read that I couldn’t wait to add to my collection.

Tall, Duke, and Scandalous is the third book in the Byronic Book club series. This book could be read as a stand alone but some of the plot is based on events that happened in previous books. I've read books 1 and 3 and didn't have any issue following along. This was my second experience reading a book by Amy Rose Bennett and I'm happy to report that I enjoyed this book just as much as the first.

Jane is an almost thirty year old spinster who frequently needs to clean up her mother's messes. She was scarred in a dogcart accident and her fiancé broke the engagement. Since then, she has been somewhat reclusive from society helping to run her grandfather's bookshop. Her mother is in serious gambling debt and Jane must find a solution quickly otherwise her mother's shares of the bookshop will be forfeited. Jane makes an impulsive decision to sneakily enter the infamous heathen rake, The Duke of Roxby's home. He catches her stealing a first edition book to sell but instead of turning her over to the authorities; he offers her marriage.

Christopher Marsden, the Duke of Roxby, has a reputation. It's all a front to cover the war hero's condition of facial blindness. He catches a pretty girl with a facial scar sneaking into his library and stealing from him. It takes him by surprise when for some reason he can clearly remember her face. He offers to marry her and pay off her mother's debts if she will help him navigate social situations where he can't recognize people and help him identify the person trying to kill him at every turn.

I had never even heard of facial blindness until a couple of months ago and now I've read two books with that as a plot in two months. I enjoyed this book immensely. You do need to suspend disbelief a bit was it was a fun read. The couple get married fairly quickly and therefore the steam starts pretty early. This is a steamy one with scenes at the opera, library, carriage and more. I appreciate how the author handled the third act conflict. Jane and Christopher acted like actual adults and discussed their hurt feelings with a need to process. It didn't last overly long and they got back to their sleuthing. It was fun seeing the previous books characters and how their lives together are progressing. This is a book where the hero falls first and he was just smitten with her from first sight. I absolutely loved their meet cute. It was funny and unique and really set the tone of the book. I can't wait to see what Bennett writes next. I'm a big fan!

Tropes included: marriage of convenience, reformed rake, scarred heroine, bluestocking heroine, found family, war hero, mystery plot, jilted, too scared to say "I love you," class difference, banging against a bookcase, eyes the color of emeralds and a ring to match, disability rep (facial blindness)

Christopher, Duke of Roxby, has a problem he tries to hide with wild parties and rumors of his rakish ways. Due to a head injury, he is unable to recognize people, a severe case of “can’t place you.” To make matters worse, it would seem someone wants to kill him.
Jane Delaney has her own set of problems. She needs money, and is working to get it, to clear her mother’s gambling debts, prevent her mother’s sale of her grandfather’s bookshop, and to pay the blackmailer who holds her closest secret. Their meeting was not proper or conventional. For some reason Christopher is able to remember her face. He proposes a marriage of convenience. He will get a woman he desires and someone he recognizes to help him cope with his face blindness. Jane will have the money she needs for her family and a safe and financially secure future. Now they need to discover who is trying to kill Christopher, and who is blackmailing Jane. This a story with danger, drama, intrigue, strong likable characters, secrets, steamy romance, and a happy ending. Tall, Duke, and Scandalous is a great addition to the Byronic Book Club series.
I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

This is the story of Jane Delaney, who is being blackmailed and attempts to steal a rare book from the library of the Duke of Roxby, Christopher Marsden. Jane is at a masquerade party at the Duke's home and while visiting the library she spies the book and because he is new to the dukedom, she does not think he knows of the books existence and therefore will not miss it. She is planning to sell the book and use the money she receives from the sale to pay her blackmailer. Christopher spies Jane stealing his book and he offers her a deal- they are to pretend to be betrothed so that she can help him find whomever is trying to kill him. Christopher reveals since he had a previous accident, he is unable to recall faces of anyone he meets and it is preventing him from figuring out who wants him dead. This is the third installment of the Byronic Book Club and it is the best novel by far from this author. In the course of their pretend betrothal, Jane and Christopher realize an attraction that proves to strong to resist. Can this relationship develop into something deeper and longer lasting? The antics Christopher and Jane get up to during their investigation will keep any reader turning the pages until they get to the end to see if they will have a HEA.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

A blue stocking plain Jane and a scandalous duke enter into a marriage of convenience to solve a mystery and discover love. This is the third book in the series, I have read all three and enjoyed all of them. The only thing that kept it from a 5 star for me was the secrets and hurt feelings from them.

Like our heroine, Jane who loves the Gothic novels of her period, I just love a Historical Romance novel with a hunky, tortured hero and a fisty heroine. The mystery/suspense element in "Tall, Duke, and Scandalous" is just the cherry on top of a perfect sundae. Jane is determined to live her life the way she wants but seems to me to be a bid naive in how she proposes to do that. Christoper has a real problem, but I didn't see how marriage to Jane was going to solve that. It was predictable that their marriage of convenience would turn out to be a true love match, especially with all the hot steamy sex scenes.

Jane Delaney at 29 is more or less on the shelf, heading for spinsterhood. She is the caretaker for her family. She is the chaperone for her young stepsister, sometime nanny for the brother's child and works with her grandfather at his bookstore, which is the only task she truly enjoys. After being scared, both literally and figuratively by love ten years ago her secret passion is to educate women on how to control their sexual destinies. Unfortunately, the journal has been stolen and she is being blackmailed. When her mother runs up a gambling debt that threatens her grandfather's bookstore, Jane is at a loss as to how to come up with all the money she needs to solve these problems.

Christopher Marsden, the Duke of Roxby, has held the title for less than a year and someone is out to kill him. The first attack left him with the inability to recognize and remember faces. He became a dissolute scoundrel hosting wild drunken parties in order to be shunned by polite society and hid both his problem and the attempts on his life.

When Jane and Christopher meet, she is in the process of solving her problem. Christopher is stunned that her face is the only face in almost a year that he can recognize and retain. They strike a bargain which benefits them both, but someone really wants Christopher dead and Jane is now in the crosshairs too.

My thanks to the Publisher and the Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

This was my favorite book of the series. I like a marriage of convenience trope. Chris and Jane were good characters. At times I felt there was to much repetition.

I’ve seen a lot of romance heroes with a number of scars, diseases, disabilities, etc, throughout the year; I love anything when a novel (especially a historical) gives a voice to an overshadowed community and allows the reader to imagine what life may have been like at the time. While amnesia is nothing new in terms of plot device,Tall Duke and Scandalous by Amy Rose Bennett, offers a slight deviation to this often played out contrivance. Our hero, Christopher, The Duke of Roxby, suffering from facial blindness, is being hunted and has no idea if knows his attacker or if they are simply another faceless stranger. To help him solve the mystery, he propositions Lady Jane Delaney, whose facial scarring keeps her on the edge of making a respectable marriage. While pining for a family of her own, she has accepted her future as a lonely spinster. Her beauty, emphasized by her scar, captivates Christopher, and he refuses to let her go.

The Compliment Sandwich
The Top Bun (The Pro)
A Sex Positive Couple

We have a hero that is not shy in his desire and a heroine with an equally enthusiastic view of sex. While both parties knowingly enter into marriage with the understanding that it is a means to an end (financial stability for her and stopping his murder), both are vocifierous in their sexual attraction to each other.

“Chrisotpher had correctly surmised that she wouldn’t quail in the face of such naked want. That she wanted him to fan the embers of their mutual lust into something hot and bright and all-consuming…He made her feel alive. Real. A woman of flesh and bone. Of panted breaths and tingling nerves and a racing heart. She was somehow more than the drifting shadow she’d been for so long”.

Jane, along with her friends, has a very forward thinking view of medicine, female empowerment, sexual congress, and independence. As this is the third novel in the series of strong independent women, each Byronic Club member supports the others in their pursuits no matter how scandalous the outcome.

The Meat (The Con)
The Third Act Breakup

While I can understand Christopher’s reasoning, doesn’t mean I have to like it.

The Bottom Bun
Facial Blindness as a Plot Device

When Brad Pitt announced to the world that he suffers from facial blindness many treated his revelation as a joke to garner attention. While I can’t say definitively if that was or wasn’t the impetus behind his reveal (I don’t know the man), I can easily say that the affliction is very serious.

Imagine looking at yourself in the mirror every day and not recognizing your own face. Now, imagine you are being hunted for an unknown reason and you recognize no one. No one but a scarred beautiful woman attempting to steal a priceless text from your library. If out of thousands of faces, you only recognize one; you’d be endeared to this person. On top of this connection, you desire them but feel less than due to, what you consider to be, your failings. It definitely sets the stage for emotional connections and feelings of helplessness for the characters. Bravo to Bennett for utilizing this condition and not crafting a pitiable character - you empathize with Christopher. From page one you are on board with the MC’s connection and how they will lean on each other to move forward. I would wholeheartedly recommend this book and others by this author. She was an unknown quantity for me but I’ve delved into her back catalog since this discovery.

This was a pretty good read by one of my favorite authors. Ms Bennett has long been my go-to reads that take the reader down many paths and uncertain territory which involves over time. She writes from the heart and makes us wanting more. I really enjoyed this book from first chapter and never let go. The characters were fully developed with thoughts and feelings of their own.
Jane Delaney spends her time running her family business along with he grandfather. She likes that books are her best friends and also taking care of her mother and siblings. Jane has a good head on her shoulders, but there is one problem. She is being blackmailed by someone and the business is in financial trouble.
Christopher Marsden has inherited the title of the Duke of Roxby and also someone is trying to kill him in the process. He appreciates books that are his passion but he's a rake but can be a gentleman when he wants too.
Jane and Roxby become allies in the search for a killer who will stop at nothing to attain his goals. The couple work together and become closer in their relationship which becomes romantic. A happy ever after is the key to happiness and becomes everlasting true love.
I appreciate Net Galley for this ARC title in which I gave an honest review.
