Amy Larsen and Hunter Forrest are back. Someone is playing judge, jury and executioner. It's all in the guise of saving their souls. Amy and Hunter are called in when another horseman of the apocalypse shows up. Hopefully, they will find the leader and stop the cult before more people die.

While I enjoyed this book, I like the Krewe series better. However, this book was interesting. I've read a lot of Heather Graham books, but it's been awhile. I forgot how good a writer she is. She brings the crazy to life. I love when an author can do that. Keeps you coming back for more.

Thank you to NetGalley, Heather Graham and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The cult of the four horsemen continue in this third book. Reading about Amy and Hunter feels good - like coming back to old friends. Once again, Amy and Hunter's downtime is interrupted by the crazy cult folks as another toy horse is left for them to find. This one is a page turner and I was pretty sure I knew the culprit early on. There were a few red herrings that did make we question a few times, but overall, I was able to follow the mystery and come to the same conclusions.

When it comes to writing style, Ms. Graham's is a smooth voice that flows at just the right tempo. She increases the intensity in a story when she wants us to specifically look at piece of information. Other times, it slows into a gentle lull which tricks a reader into thinking everything is okay. Then another bad event occurs. I like this up and down because it creates a constant fight or flight with me turning page after page to see what is happening. I feel like I'm right by Amy and Hunter's side as they race to find the kidnapped victims or try to find the villain.

I am enjoying the ties from one book to another in this series. Whilst this can probably be read as a standalone, I wouldn't. I recommend reading this series in the order it was published. They build upon one another. The picture I'm seeing is a much vaster organization trying to destabilize . . . the country? I'm not sure I know what the end game is for this killing cult other than generate fear and hatred. Looking forward to the next book in this series. This suspense is recommended to readers who enjoy arcs that last several books.

There is a killer in Colorado! A tiny black horse is left with the victim. Once again Amy and Hunter are sent to investigate.
A really good thriller.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC and to the publisher Mira.

The third Amy Larson and Hunter Forrest book finds them investigating the disappearance of some hikers. Things get more complicated when a tiny plastic horse is found on the scene, tying it to their previous investigations. I would suggest reading the others two first to have the full context for this story. It's probably not 100% necessary but would definitely increase your enjoyment of this book.

Thank you to #NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishers and Heather Graham for the opportunity to read an advance copy of SHADOW OF DEATH, to be published 18 April 2023. This was the third book in this crime series about the Horsemen of the Apocalypse and was good as a stand-alone as well. A cult seeks to “cleanse” people of their sins in a rather macabre way. The novel had a lot of blood, gore and torture throughout. Anybody who reads Heather Graham would probably like this book. #NetGalley. #HarlequinTradePublishers. #HeatherGraham.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC.

This didn't hold my interest, I didn't care for the characters or story, and to be transparent I did DNF at 35%. Definitely not for me but I did appreciate the action.

In the latest novel by Heather Graham, Shadow of Death, Amy and Hunter are relaxing in the Keys when another toy horse is delivered in Colorado. Immediately after arriving there they quickly go to work and the action begins. Not my favorite but another fast paced, action packed romantic thriller. Thank you NetGally!

Warning: Lots of violence, blood and gory details. Based on the four horseman from the book of Revelation, a cult is out to cleanse sinners with a gory ritual. Hunter, having been a part of a cult at a young age proves to be a valuable FBI agent as he teams up with Amy a Florida law officer to find the head of the cult. The history of Florida is quite interesting. I would recommend reading the first two books in the series to fully grasp the Biblical references. Looking forward to reading the conclusion of the series to find out who is the head of the cult.

This latest installment is full of suspense and the perfect dose of romance. I've become very invested in these characters and the story arc. Each book has its own mystery that is solved which I love. I also appreciate the way the stories are interconnected. We get more answers as we go along. I'm excited for the next book!

Multiple bodies are found in a cave along with a tiny horse. This is the calling card of a cult. Will the FBI figure out who is the leader in time to prevent more deaths. This is the third book in the series and I think it’s best if you read them in order.

Amy Larson and Hunter Forrest are back in a 3rd book in the crime thriller series. I loved following the clues as the pair hunts down another horseman. Danger lurks around every corner. We are taken to the beautiful mountains of Colorado and the beautiful, but dangerous Everglades in Florida. The writing is wonderful. I was rated to the pages. I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

I first thought this would be a Krewe book, but soon realized it was in the Horsemen series. Amy and Hunter were back along with some of their friends from the previous books. This time, the scene moved from Florida to Colorado where the bulk of the book takes place. The last part returns to Florida where this third horseman case closes. Good book.

Two hikers go missing, Amy of FDLE and Hunter of the FBI, are sent to investigate. A woman is found in a pit in a cave, alive. Her friend is missing and they can't locate him. In the pit, they find several bodies. Some just bones and some still have skin. When they investigate further, they discover a cult about to sacrifice a young woman. They save her and are told that she was being saved from her sins. They were going to cut out her heart and drink her blood. They believed the Apocalypse is near and they are trying to save sinners. Amy and Hunter are trying to locate the head of the cult. But while trying to find them, Amy gets taken and the rest are behind her to keep her from being sacrificed. Will they find the cult leader?

Action and suspense. The only reason I didn't give five was because the dialect seemed rushed to me. This really will keep you on the edge of your seat. There is a slight cliffhanger.

3.25/5 stars! This is the third book in the Amy Larson & Hunter Forrest FBI series. This was an enjoyable crime thriller. I enjoyed the banter and connection between special agent Larson and special agent Forrest. I'm not a huge fan of cults in stories because there's a fine line between implementing them effectively into the story and making it a depressing religious experience. I think that's what happened here. There were so many biblical references that a non-Christian person like me got pulled out of the story. Overwise, an enjoyable read.

When multiple bodies are found in a cave the answer to multiple missing person cases only provides more mystery. How did they die and who is behind this. Will there be more bodies? A tiny horse is found with the bodies and Amy and Hunter recognize the calling card. Their investigation leads them down a road to a mysterious and deadly cult. More people disappear and can they figure out who the leader is in time to stop more deaths. This book is the 3rd in a series featuring Amy and Hunter. We are left with a cliff hanger which will hopefully resolved in the next book. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publishers in exchange for an honest review. I would give this book 3 1/2 stars but could only give either a 3 or 4, so, I put it down to a 3 because of all of the references to the bible and cults which took away from the story. Otherwise, it had plenty of action, suspense and romance to keep you reading the book. This is the 3rd in the series featuring Florida Department of Law Enforcement special agent Amy Larson and FBI special agent Hunter Forrest. Amy and Hunter first met on the first case of the Four Horseman. This cult is gearing for the Apocalypse which they believe will bring the end of the world except for them. Their leader has been able to convince people to follow him/her with unspeakable acts to save themselves. Amy and Hunter were on vacation until they were called to Denver. They have a missing person case and a black horse that was sent to Andy Mason at the Denver FBI office. Amy and Hunter land in Detroit and jump right into the missing person case. They find that person, Cassie in a pit not far from where she was last seen. They also found in the pit multiple corpses covered in bite marks with a black horse floating near them. Now the adventure really begins. Read to find out whether or not Amy and Hunter can end this cult or will the world have its Apocalypse.
