The One Who Fell is book 1 in the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series and it's a great start. I found it to be a quick page-turner of a book with plenty of twists and turns and characters I cared about. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to book 2. I would never describe this as fast-paced - I feel like this is more of a slow unraveling, I was hooked and I was turning the pages faster and faster to know what happened.

This wasn’t a bad book, but I did have a few issues. Firstly, I loved the protagonist, Millie, and they really made the book worthwhile to read. It was a super cosy mystery with an eerie setting and atmosphere. However, I found the plot let the book down a bit. It was slow to start and then it was very up and down in regards to the pacing. I also didn’t like the ending as it felt rushed. Overall, not for me but I’m sure it will find the right readers.

The One Who Fell is the first book of the Whitecliff Bay Mystery series. I enjoyed meeting Millie, the main character, and all the other supporting characters. The plot begins with several unanswered questions. Is Millie a murderer of her parents? Did Ingrid, a resident of the nursing home where Millie volunteers, actually see a girl pushed from a roof or is she confused? What secret is Millie keeping about her broken marriage? Is Millie being watched by a stranger in the shadows or is the danger closer than she realizes? The array of questions is gradually answered as secrets are revealed and tragedies are exposed. I look forward to discovering more mysteries from the Whitecliff Bay series. Thank you, NetGalley and Bookouture for my copy.

This would be classified as cozy murder. It was light and entertaining. The every day normal was presented interestingly. The background story lines intercepted with the main mystery well. Cozy doesn’t mean predictable and that was nice, The uncertainty around the death of the main characters parents was a nice touch. I will continue the series as it was a surprisingly nice change from what I normally read.

3.5/5 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers, and Kerry Wilkinson for allowing me to read and review this book.

This is a good mystery book with a strong female main character. It is the first in a new series and keeps you wondering about several different aspects. There is the main mystery: an elderly lady at a nursing home says she saw someone fall off a roof, but no one has been reported missing, dead, or injured, and it seems no one else saw anything. There are several small mysteries as well. The ex-husband is keeping a big secret, the main characters parents have died under mysterious circumstances, and many other small things that are mentioned throughout the book. We get some answers, we also get more questions.

This is a good first book in a series. I would recommend for anyone looking for a newer mystery series with a strong female character.

It took me a long time to get into this series but Kerry is an author I really love as his writing style gets you so engrossed and eventually I really got into the book. It was a little far-fetched and felt like it just ended when the drama was solved so I don’t know whether as a stand-alone book this gripped me but the way he leaves you wanting more at the end really helps you get into the follow-up books which, in my opinion, are much better. Guy, as a character really comes across well and you can imagine just the sort of person he is. Millie is certainly someone you can resonate with too - holding everything together but who has that bit of intrigue the whole way through. Looking forward to reading more of this series.

An enjoyable holiday read and I had a three box set, so one after the other as the sun shone.
With Kerry’s books you know what to expect and are rarely disappointed.

The Whitecliff Mystery series by Kerry Wilkinson was a must read for me as he is one of my go-to authors. If he releases a book, I need to read it. I was looking forward to this series as soon as I discovered they were being released.
The One Who Fell introduces us to Millie Westlake. A woman whose life has fallen apart in the last few years. She is a volunteer at an old people's home and when a resident tells her she saw a girl on a roof during the night, Millie takes it upon herself to attempt to get to the bottom of what she has been told. Will she discover if there was truly a girl who fell from the roof of if it was a figment of the residents imagination.
The story starts slowly as we get to know the characters and their back stories, particularly Millie’s. It's as always so well written and the characters so believable. Millie herself is an intriguing woman who I was fascinated with. I can't wait to see how she develops over this series.
The interwoven mystery was one that made me keep picking this book up. The twists made it quite a thrilling read that did have me wondering throughout. The fact that I couldn't guess what happened resulted in a surprise ending for me.
The One Who Was Taken picks up after the events of the first book and I was really happy to be able to read it straight after the first.
By the time I had read two chapters I was feeling like I was back with a friend. Although it's a friend I'm still getting to know. Millie is such a complex woman but as the story unfolded, more little bits about her are revealed. The characters are all so well described and the settings too. I could picture Guy's home so clearly. He is now a friend of Millie and I revelled in the way their relationship is growing by the chapter.
The plot is again another gripping one. That again hooked me from the start. I just wanted to know how it would end, and how these events would affect Millie herself. I am quite fond of this woman now. That's the skill of Kerry Wilkinson. He can create fictional people who the reader feels invested in so fast.
I am still reading the third book, The Ones Who Are Buried. It's another quality read. One that I'm thoroughly enjoying. Again the characters are so vivid and the mystery is keeping me on my toes.
The Whitecliff Mystery series is a departure from Kerry Wilkinson's previous books. It's also a series that slowly grips you from the first book and does become an addictive read. I'm hoping book four comes along quite soon as I will be bereft when I finish the book I'm currently reading! Great stories with multi layered characters and twisty plots.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the gifted ARC.

This is the first Kerry Wilkinson book that I've read and it is the 1st book in A Whitecliff Bay Mystery series. It did a good job of introducing the core characters and giving them background. Milly works at the local nursing home and becomes friends with resident Ingrid. Small town gossip has Milly without many friends in Whitecliff, many who assume she murdered her parents. Ingrid tell Milly that she saw a young woman jump off a roof outside her window in the nursing home. Milly is the only one who thinks she's not senile. Desperately searching for evidence to find the girl Ingrid saw, a broken roof tile could prove Ingrid was telling the truth. But when strange footprints appear in Millie’s garden, she’s certain someone out there is watching. The ending of this story is a good opening for book 2 in this new series.

Another winner from Kerry Wilkinson, thriller, mystery and suspense all rolled into one. I loved the characters, the story and the expectations throughout. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

Another great book from master writer Kerry Wilkinson. I've loved every single one of his books.
This one introduces new character Millie Westlake who after tragic events in her life (and a few bad decisions) meets up with Guy, an ex journalist who ruined her life.
Millie has been volunteering at a local nursing home, and one of the residents, Ingrid tells her about seeing someone pushed from the roof of a nearby house. Millie is intrigued so decides to investigate.
Did Ingrid really see someone fall from the roof? Why is she suspicious of the house holder? Why did Guy turn up on her doorstep?
These and other questions are answered in this cozy mystery.
I enjoyed this book so much that I have now read 3 of the series in quick succession, and am looking forward to reading more.

I read another Kerry Wilkinson's mystery years ago and I remember I liked it. This is the start of a new series and I enoyed it.
As it's the first novel there's the introduction of the characters, the settiing and it's a bit slow at the beginning but it get fast and very entertaining when it starts going.
Whitecliff Bay is a lovely place but it can also be a nightmare as there's no privacy and a lot of gossipgs.
Millie is likeable character, there's some very nast gossips about her, but she lives her life. I also liked Guy and his relationship with Millie.
A solid and entertaining mystery.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I was very excited to find a new series by Kerry Wilkinson. I love her books and jumped straight into this series and read every book so far.
Millie has had an eventful time in her personal life and has given up her career and now helps out at a nursing home and runs a dog grooming business. She's suffered with gossips in the local area and when one of the old ladies tells her what she saw from her room, she is determined to investigate. She puts herself in danger but finds a new purpose.
I loved her growing friendship with the local news reporter and her bests friends. It was a real page turner.

A promising start to a new series by an author I've enjoyed reading since the Jessica Daniels series. Although the story takes longer to get going than other books by kerry, once it does and the characters start to develop, it had me gripped. It will be interesting to see how the relationship between Millie and Guy develops.
Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review
