Millie Westlake volunteers at the local nursing home, and one of the residents says that she saw a girl being pushed from a roof in a house opposite.
Millie is intrigued, and does some investigative work, and uncovers more than she anticipated.

A great book, I was engaged from the beginning and it looks like we have a new series with a female sleuth!
Good stuff! I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book does not yet appear on Goodreads, and unfortunately I do not qualify with enough points to post a review on Amazon. As soon as Goodreads has this uploaded, I will post a review.

The cover if this made me think it might be a bit old fashioned or clichéd but I love Kerry Wilkinson so had to read it and yeah, it was absolutely nothing like I imagined.

It had me hooked from the start. The writing flows really easily and naturally and the characters are so engaging. It's not super dramatic and action packed but it still really does keep you so invested in what's happening. I loved the main character, she seemed such a decent person and I was really rooting for her after everything she's been through. I also loved that she is a strong female lead and is willing to stand up for herself and do what she feels is right.

It's not one of those clichéd storyline where everyone is incredibly suspicious about everything they do, even when it's just putting the bins out. The supporting characters were all written quite realistically to really bring the village alive and not let the story slide into one of those over the top, everyone is guilty types. I can't wait to start the next installment

A great start to a new series looking forward to seeing what the next two books bring…. Have Ingrid and Millie stumbled across something terribly dangerous? And with the town against her, will Millie have to face up to her own secrets to solve the mystery before it becomes deadly? The writing style was simple and effective and the overall flow of the story felt very smooth. I read this book in one sitting.

Hmmmm this book was a good start to a new series! I can't say it was one of my all time favorite just because it was just a bit um I guess bland? It had light suspense, a little intriguing, some mystery, a kind of a who done it but it wasn't a heart pounding edge of your seat book! But it still was a decent read! I would recommend it, its just not a top favorite! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!

I thought this was a great introduction to MIllie and the town of Whitecliff, while this book isn't necessarily action-packed, the story and the characters really suck you in.
I loved how strong Millie is, when confronted by people she stands up for herself, she has a couple of amazing friends and isn't afraid to stand up for herself.
I will definitely be reading the other books in this series, and checking out this author's other books!

When we first meet Millie West her life has already imploded. She was publicly exposed for having an affair, her marriage was ruined, and to top, it all off a lot of the residents of the small town of Whitecliff thinks she had something to do with her parent's death.

So now she runs a dog grooming business out of her house and volunteers at the local senior living home. When one of the residents who is famous for the stories she tells, lets Millie know that she saw a young girl fall or was possibly pushed from the roof of the house she can see out her window. While Millie isn't sure if Ingrid actually saw this or if it's something she saw or heard somewhere else, Millie decides to do a bit of investigating...

And this sets off a sequence of events that leads her to a missing young woman and also puts herself in danger.
