This was a fun little cozy mystery set in the Cotswolds. I hadn't read the previous books in the series, but I didn't feel lost. It's definitely a cozy on the squeaky clean side. I almost wondered if Sophie's relationship with her boyfriend was just a friendship. Still, there was a nice community feel to this. Not a big mystery, but still a fun read.

*Note: I wasn't able to find this edition on Goodreads to review.

The narrator adds so much to the enjoyment of this book! It has all of the elements of a cozy mystery with a few mysteries within the mystery. It's part of a series, so I recommend that you start at the beginning to get to know all of the characters and storylines better. This installment gives a deeper look into some of the characters' back stories. Perfect for escaping reality at the end of a long day, or when sitting in the sun.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. I think that the narrator is wonderful and engaging. It does take a while to get to the mystery portion but I do enjoy the interactions of the carious characters in the book and I think that the plot if well thought out. This is book 4 in the series but I did not feel like I had to have read the other books to enjoy this one which is something that I really like.

thank you to net galley and saga egmont audio for the advance audiobook copy of Murder at the Well by Debbie Young. I don't normally go for mysteries but this was very good. it isnt about a literal murder, it is a book a book seller and a mysterious author hermione minty. know one knows her but they love her romance novels. our main character finds out who the author is behind the pen name and the ensuing trials that come with keeping the information hidden. it was a very cute story.

This was an interesting story, though for me I could not get into the flow. I kept expecting a bit more "mystery" or suspense but there was very little. I couldn't quite wrap my head around the timeframe, it felt somehow historical while also being current day. The narrator was good and had good pacing. I think I could have enjoyed this more perhaps if I had the context of the previous books but I haven't read them yet. I liked Sophie and I enjoyed the side characters, and I think the Valentine's Day bend was cute as well. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.

Murder at the Well by Debbie Young was such a cute, cozy mystery. I enjoyed the characters very much and the small town which almost felt like a character itself. The audio was superb as were the narrators.

Sophia Sayers lives in a small village in a house she inherited from her aunt. She works at the bookshop that her boyfriend, Hector, owns. Hector also writes popular romances under a female pseudonym. The book focuses on their relationship and the Valentine’s Day events that the village host.

The story was a light and fun cozy mystery. I did not realize this book was part of a series, so I listened to this book as a standalone. The plot was very slow and lacked any excitement. I was expecting a murder mystery, but nothing happens until the last 10% of the book. I felt the title was misleading, but the book was still an easy and light read to listen to at work. Mary Woodvine did a great job narrating the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Egmont Audio for giving me a copy of the audiobook.

Thank you for letting me listen to this audiobook! The beginning started off slow, took me a while before I got into it. I definitely didn’t feel as much a connection with the characters but still was entertained during certain scenes. I will definitely recommend this book for people who love cozy mysteries. The narrator read it beautifully. My rate is a 3.5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley and Saga Egmond for this audio.

This was cozy alright but it wasn't what I was expecting. I didnt really get any mystery at all. The murder at the well happened just later in book and the "case" was solved in a few.

Murder at the Well starts off with the murder in question, then flashes back and leads up to the incident on a Valentines Night.
Little detective Tommy is quite the comic relief.

This is a nice easy to read stand alone book but I think it would have been much more engaging having read the previous stories! I wondered at the format with the “murder” then what seemed like normal small town life not providing many clues to the upcoming murder, but understanding now that it is part of a series I completely understand. The character growth portion would be so great as a return reader. This is such an easy, gentle read with no tension and was incredible for bedtime! An overall feel good book!

I give 4 stars because there was no murder, and majority of the book doesn’t pertain to the said murder. I am sure I would have given 5 stars if I had already been acquainted with the series and had a connection to the characters.

It's a cute mystery. However, the murder at the well doesn't happen until the last little bit of the book. It is a decent book. It's a cozy read. I don't see it as a mystery.

Debbie Young's Murder at the Well is a sweet story that takes place in a small village in the UK. The book starts with a murder, but the reader doesn't know who's dead. The bulk of the story takes place a few days leading up to the death. Composed of a cast of loveable characters, it's a quick read with a sweet ending. It's the perfect book for a reader who doesn't want any murder in their murder mysteries.

I expected a cozy murder mystery, but apart from the first couple of sentences in the book and the very end, there was no mention of the murder and it was simply a nice tale about a village shop and its customers. Very misleading but an enjoyable read all the same.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advance copy in return for an honest review.

I enjoy cozy mysteries but this one feels a little misleading. This is the fourth in the a series and I easily felt caught up with the characters and what is happening. Sophie Sayers lives in a small Cotswold village in a house she inherits from her aunt. Her boyfriend Hector owns a bookshop and coffee shop where she works. He supplements his income by writing popular romances under a female pseudonym. Most of the book is cute happenings in the village, planning for a Valentines event and meeting his family. The characters are all fine but I don’t think it is much of a mystery if there isn’t a body until almost the 90 percent point. And then everything resolves literally within minutes. I’d say this is more of a character and village story. I listened to the audiobook and at just over five hours it is a quick listen. It isn’t a bad story but it isn’t really a mystery either. Not sure how it compare to others in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and Saga Egmont Audio for the audio book in exchange for an honest review.

For a book with murder in the title, this really wasn’t the focus. It was more about the village with some murder lightly thrown in than a cozy mystery! I think it would hit the target audience better if the synopsis reflected that.

Murder at the Well was a quick and cozy book. I listened to this audiobook in one sitting. The characters were all very unique and had such deep backgrounds. I loved getting to know them. The plot was slow and relaxed, perfect for those days when you can't handle something very intense. I will say that the synopsis of the book lead me to believe this would be a murder mystery, but that aspect of the story was severely lacking. I would have liked that to be a bigger part of the plot. But regardless this was a cute, cozy read and I'd recommend it to all cozy mystery lovers.

Thanks to netgalley and the publishers for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

This is the fourth in the series and I’ve been an avid reader of the other three, so was excited to start this one.

I’ve grown to get to know the characters, the community and couldn’t wait to return to see how things were progressing. Sophie has been such an endearing character and her budding relationship with Hector has made for an addicting read. I loved them both in this and they were both certainly being tested but definitely rose to the challenge…

I really enjoyed the plot and story of this one. It was certainly different and pleasantly not what I was expecting. I enjoyed the direction it went in and it was such an easy and enjoyable listen.

I pretty much listened to it in one sitting and was surprised at how much it flew by! The narrator was super easy to listen to and made slipping into this story effortless. It certainly is a cozy mystery and I can’t wait for more to (hopefully) follow.

It is cute but rambling and a bit aimless, and though I was teased with a murder mystery in the title, summary, and first chapter, it's all false advertising 1.5⭐️

Thank you Saga Egmond audio for this audio.
It was a quick and easy for lazy day or for a busy day that you need to slow down. I liked the characters and loved the mystery about the murder. It was fun to discovering the secrets with Sophie.
