Thanks NetGalley, eSpec Books, and NeoParadoxa for access to this arc.

This had a great premise, but really fell flat as I kept reading it. Prue and Justice did some things that really frustrated me, so I really rushed through the end of this just to see where it ended up - I'm glad it was short, lol.

I have not read any of the previous but am happy to have read this one. The book will pull you in and you'll want to read the rest. I loved the characters and world building as well as the illustrations. Would make a wonderful animated series.
Another great read in the Systema Paradoxa series (volume 14). These books are so enjoyable, introducing many new (to me) cryptids. The characters are great, pacing is great, and story is great. Hard to put down and not finish in one sitting. Can't wait for the next in this great series. #OutforBlood #NetGalley
Prudence was at home and a beast broke into her house and kills her mother. She discovers the type of beast is known to her father and he kills these creatures. Prudence leaves to find the beast.
I've been enjoying the Systema Paradoxa series as a whole, I love the concept of cryptid series and each book has been really well written. I enjoyed what was going on in this book and loved the way Jorie Rao wrote this. It had what I was looking for and I thought this use of cryptids was well done.
"It had been a shock when Justice tried putting Seville into Google Maps and got an error message. According to the big old Google in the sky, Seville didn’t exist. At least not on the internet. Four crappy roadside gas stations with Evil Dead vibes and one Gentlemen’s club later, and we had a map with Seville on it and an actual idea of how to get there."
I’ve been reading these Systema Paradoxa series on and off owning to my interest in cryptozoology. They are usually fun. Not great literature, mind you, but plain mindless one-sit-read kind of fun. This one is much in the same vein, this time dealing with Rougarou or however you want to spell that one.
The writing quality here is slightly above average for the series. Other than that, you got your quick wham-bam road-trip-to-kill-a-creature adventure and then a pseudoscientific article in the end explaining this cryptid to the public.
All in all, mildly diverting and forgettably entertaining. As always the cryptid steals the show. Thanks Netgalley.
