This book was more mystery than thriller however I enjoyed every moment of it. This book is fast paced and will grab you from the first page. The big twist and reveal was well worth every page turned. Loved this one. Thank you Netgalley and Thomas and Mercer for the ARC in exchange for my review.

I love this book!! This was my first book by AR Torre, and it will not be last for sure. I loved the multiple POV's and the whole idea of her loving two twins at once. I didn't see the twist coming at all. I loved every second of this one!! Detective lead, Hollywood murder, twins, drama!! Perfect

Another great thriller from A.R. Torre, who has become an immediate read for me. A Fatal Affair, like all novels by this author, grabs you right away with an interesting conflict that stands out from the others because of its depth and smart writing.

If you're into true crime and celebrity scandals, A Fatal Affair by A.R. Torre may be for you. Famous and infamous twins Hugh and Trent Iverson become embroiled in a bigger-than-life scandal when Trent is found dead on Hugh's Beverly Hills compound. A woman is also found dead with him. Glamorous actress Nora Kemp, fiancée of Hugh, loves both men but cannot fathom how this situation could be good for their careers or their reputations. When the detectives, Farah and Kevin, come in, determined to solve the crime, an explosion of secrets could blow up the curated images Nora and Hugh have created and destroy their lives forever.

I found this thriller-mystery hybrid entertaining and engaging. Every character gets equal time, and they're all distinctive and interesting. Each brief chapter zooms in on the perspective of one of the actors, the mysterious woman who was killed, and the police force involved in the investigation. Little by little, you're piecing together this puzzle that becomes more lurid as you turn the pages.

Some of the plotlines are very unique and surprising. I felt that they were woven together in a very intricate way that you can unravel. I didn't see some of the storylines coming, so it was pretty thrilling. And some of them are pretty seedy. It's a fun ride.

I will say that there are definitely times where this story is totally far-fetched. You have to suspend disbelief, but I thought the story was rendered well enough that you can dismiss any of those thoughts. You're on the hunt for answers to the murder-suicide and why a little boy appears out of nowhere. There are so many details, but somehow, it comes together to produce a satisfying mystery.

Since this book is fairly short, you could get through it in one weekend for sure. So, if you're looking for a fun activity to keep you occupied, especially on a long, rainy weekend, pick this up. It will keep you entertained and serve as a great escape.

Hugh and Nora appear to possess the world at their fingertips—an abundance of wealth and fame that exceeds their wildest dreams. They bask in the adoration of a legion of fans, crowned as Hollywood’s beloved power couple.

However, beneath this glamorous façade, a stark contrast exists in the form of Hugh’s twin brother, Trent. Although they share a striking resemblance, their similarities cease there. In reality, they are polar opposites, with Trent embracing a rebellious, free-spirited lifestyle that stands in stark contrast to Hugh’s buttoned-up demeanour. At present, Trent finds himself ensnared in a dire predicament, one that even Hugh cannot extricate him from. A grim discovery has been made on the property—Trent’s lifeless body alongside an unidentified woman.

The narrative unfolds with a well-paced and tantalizing plot, weaving together multiple points of view. The succinct, short chapters propelled me swiftly through the story, maintaining its engaging momentum.

While I relished much of the narrative, I must admit that the twist in the tale left me somewhat underwhelmed, as it was a tad predictable.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for sending a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Unfortunately, I was not able to finish this book. The writing just didn't capture my attention. I have tried this author's work in the past, but have come to the conclusion that it is just not for me. I encourage others to give it a read!

A solid, interesting thriller! I've read Alessandra Torre's romance works but this was my first read under her pen name A.R. Torre. I would probably pick up another one in the future.

I will say I did have a little trouble keeping track of who exactly was involved/who was who since there's essentially 8 'main' characters as well as several more that pop up. Some aspects of the twist were a bit predictable but some still managed to surprise me.

4 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A.R. Torre does it again!

Whenever I see a new Torre book I know what to expect: a superb story filled with lots of twists and surprises. This one definitely kept me guessing. Just when I thought I’d figured it out it took a turn in another direction.

These are some pretty terrible characters - narcissistic Hollywood stars who are liars and cheaters. Nobody is trustworthy or likable. Fast paced, alternating POVs and short chapters are everything I look for in a book.

Highly recommend for Torre fans or anyone looking for a fun thriller!

Thank you to NetGalley, Thomas & Mercer and A.R. Torre for my advanced copy to read and review.

I always enjoy AR Torre - she is one of my favorites. But this one was a bit slower than her usual and seemed to be more romance than thriller for me. I'll definitely gobble up her next book like always, no doubt; but this one was sadly a little disappointing for me.

Stars. Lovers. Liars. Killers. This is Hollywood, and everyone has a part to play in a shocking novel of suspense by New York Times bestselling author A. R. Torre.

Actress Nora Kemp loves two men. One is Hugh Iverson, a philanthropic movie star who gives Nora security and respectability. The other is Hugh’s twin brother, Trent, a Hollywood bad boy who brings out Nora’s wild side. When Trent and an unidentified woman are found dead on the Iversons’ Beverly Hills property, more than Nora’s and Hugh’s reputations are at stake.

An investigation suggests murder-suicide. But there’s more to the crime than first meets the eye: suspicions of a serial killer with a bizarre motive, Hugh’s unnerved and cautious staff, and a missing mother and son. As two LA detectives sift through the deceptions of the innocent and the guilty—some living and some dead—solving the case becomes a cunning cat-and-mouse game.

Because in a city of illusions, the truth—no matter how dangerous—is so easy to hide.

Let me start this review off by saying that I've LOVED all the other books by AR Torre that I've read. This one... just... missed the mark unfortunately.
There were SO many different POV's and usually I don't mind that, but some of the POV's I really didn't think were necessary and it just got a little confusing after awhile.
The ending felt rushed, and unbelievable.
I also had guessed the major plot twist pretty early on, and not much else surprised me throughout.
Unfortunately, not my favorite by AR Torre, but I will definitely pick up her next one.

A Fatal Affair written by A.R. Torre wasn't her best book in my opinion, but I was still shell shocked. I wasn't surprised by the ending, it was kind of a given, but some parts in the ending were definitely a surprise. In the beginning, with all the different POV's, it was a little bit confusing for me, but as I kept reading and understanding the story, the POV's definitely made sense to me. I love a good thriller that messes with your head, but unfortunately this one didn't do it for me, don't get me wrong, it was still an enjoyable book, but it didn't make me crazy the way other A.R. Torre books have. I wouldn't say the ending had some loose ends, but I definitely wanted more from the other characters. What I really loved about this book was the short chapters, it kept the story moving fast, it never once left me feeling bored, but it kind of left me with some unanswered questions. 🌟WE LOVE A SHORT CHAPTERS QUEEN🌟. Another thing I loved about this book is that gorgeous cover. If you love police procedurals, look no further than A Fatal Affair by A.R. Torre. I will say, I love A.R. Torre's psychological thrillers, but with this police procedural one, it felt like A.R. Torre was trying a little too hard to make this book everything.

THANK YOU TO NETGALLEY AND THOMAS & MERCER FOR AN ARC OF THIS BOOK IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW!!!!!

Nora Kemp is an actress who loves two men, the only downside? THEY ARE TWINS. But that doesn't stop Nora from loving both of them. Hugh Iverson, is a movie star that gives Nora respectability and makes her feel safe. Trent Iverson, is a Hollywood bad boy who has a past. Trent and Hugh aren't quite the same set of twins. Hugh is successful, whereas Trent has a past of being in rehab and having a drinking/drug addiction. Trent always brought out Nora's wild side, so why would she be in love with Hugh Iverson as well? Because Hugh has money and can help Nora's acting career take off. When Trent and an unidentified woman are found dead on the Iverson's Beverly Hills property, more than Nora and Hugh's reputations are at stake. When two detectives arrive on scene, an investigation suggests it's a murder suicide, but as the investigation is on going, there's more to the crime than firsts meets the eye. Nora and Hugh are cooperating with the detectives, but trying not to give out too much information that can destroy their career. In this book, we learn about Nora's past and who she really is.

As two LA detectives sift through interviews with the staff at the Iverson's property, solving the case becomes a game of cat and mouse, because some people are talking and others aren't giving up any information. Hugh is getting agitated with the questioning, and Nora is now pregnant. This murder suicide came as a surprise, but Nora isn't really showing any emotions at all. Hugh is trying to hide things that could possibly blow up this whole investigation. As Nora and Hugh's reputations being at stake, more truths could come out about this couple, such as Nora being in love with the twins because the public doesn't know about it. Why would a mom be dead and her son still missing? Because Hugh and Trent are involved in some kind of charity where they make dreams come true for children that are sick. My heart instantly went out for that little boy and his father. My heart went out to Hugh and Nora, but as the truth started to emerge, I kind of had to change my line of thinking. Who was telling the truth? Was Trent in the wrong? Or was Hugh in the wrong? Read A Fatal Affair to find out.
