I didn’t love the previous book by this author, but this one returned the old style that I loved. When I first read his work I definitely would recommend picking us up if you liked what they have written in the past.

This is one heck of a love triangle - - one woman in love with two men - - twin brothers to be exact. The story only gets more complicated when one of them is found dead with another woman in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

I always enjoy A.R. Torre's books and this one was no different. The plot was enjoyable and fun. It kept me mesmerized and intrigued until the last page. Even when I figured out bits and pieces, I still found the book interesting. The characters weren't likable and that was the point - - I don't think they were necessarily supposed to be. But I didn't need to like them to want to see how this story played out. I wanted more of the twists and turns behind the mystery and how everything tied together. It was a well-thought out book with lots of pop.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.

I was super excited to get to read this one, as I recently read The Girl in 6E (also very good). Solid mystery/thriller with a twist at the end - I did see it coming, but it was still good. If you are a big thriller reader, this could be a little disappointing. With multiple POV’s and very fast paced chapters, it’s an easy one day read. With each chapter, I felt I had no idea who to trust because everyone seemed guilty.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for this eARC.

I loved this book. Twisty and messy in the best way. This book follows a murder, Hollywood, has multiple POV, and multiple bad people. I’m along the way it uncovers some real awful things.

I loved the end twist and didn’t see it coming.

This was my first A.R. Torre book and won’t be my last. 4 stars.

In the guest house of a Hollywood mansion, a gruesome discovery is found. Well known identical twin brothers are the center of a murder investigation but one of them is the victim. Or is he? Hugh, a Hollywood star and Trent, a Hollywood has-been have grown up in the TV spotlight. When Trent is found dead along with an unknown woman in Hugh's guesthouse, the speculation is vast. At Hugh's side, is his pregnant fiancee, Nora. who is also an actress. The storyline is unique in that it ties in secrets from the past into the current day crimes. This is a fast-paced murder-mystery/police procedural with a fantastic array of charachters. I had a good idea where the plot was going but then the author kept throwing in a new twist which made it truly exciting. I loved how the book played out like scenes from a script with chapter titles such as; The Leading Lady, The Kid, The Mom, The Detective, etc.

Thank you Netgalley, A.R. Torre, and Thomas & Mercer publishing for the ARC of A Fatal Affair in exchange for an honest review!
I have read a few of A.R. Torre's books in the past and have loved her quick binge worthy thrillers, so I was very excited to read her latest book. A Fatal Affair is about twin movie stars and an actress, Nora, who is in love with them both. Trent is the bad boy and Hugh is the respected brother. When Trent and a mystery woman are found dead on Hugh's property, suspicion starts to buzz and detectives are on the scene to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
What I absolutely love about A.R. Torre's storytelling is that you just don't want to put them down. They keep you entertained and I feel like I am on the team to try to figure out the mystery. I love her use of short chapters and multiple POVs. I will say that sometimes multiple POVs can be confusing, but A.R. Torre does a great job at making sure the reader knows whose chapter it is and keeping the characters and their story lines different.
A Fatal Affair was a great read! I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt it helped pull me out of my current reading slump. I was able to figure out the twist at the end pretty early on which usually doesn't happen with A.R. Torre books, but other than that I really enjoyed it!

Torre never disappoints and this was no exception. Twins that are Hollywood royalty, a beautiful actress and a bunch of dead women?! How can it connect? I wasn’t thinking it would connect at all but Torre nailed a crazy concept and made it relatively believable and I’m pretty impressed by that. I couldn’t stop flipping the pages because I needed to know what was going on and how the puzzle fit together. Another winner by Torre!!

A Fatal Affair was a gripping unputdownable thriller.

I absolutely loved the writing, which was multi POV with many characters (grab your notepads.) A.R. Torre drops little pieces of information throughout the book that keeps you guessing.

Here's what I loved
❤️ Two seemingly unconnected stories with a unique and creative tie in

❤️ A sneaky little twist that was perfect

❤️The characters, some I loved to hate, but not hate that much because even though many characters were despicable, there were great back stories. And I loved those detectives. I would love to see them in another book.

❤️A extremely satisfying ending

It's an intriguing story, a good thriller that surprised me till the end. The characters are fascinating, you never know who's telling the truth and who's telling lies.
The world of glitter and glamour shows it's darker side.
The author did an excelent job in developing this gripping story.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this ARC, all opinions are mine

This book was exactly what I needed when I needed it! A Fatal Affair is a fast paced murder mystery told in short chapters with multiple POV's! This book kept my attention from the beginning to the end. It was a great quick beach read. I am so grateful for the opportunity to read this book!

This book has movie stars, murder, scandals, twins and more. Hugh and Trent Iverson are twin child movie stars who grow up to be a successful movie star (Hugh) and a drug addict playboy (Trent). Hugh is engaged to Nora Kemp, also successful movie star. Kerry Pepper is a stay at home mom to a sick child, Miles. Kerry and Miles travel to LA to go to Disneyland through Protect our Children and Make a Wish. Kerry and Trent end up dead in Hugh's guesthouse. This story weaves a tangled web of lies, cheating, murder, mysteries and more.

Amazing storytelling! I usually shy away from the Hollywood type of stories but this was written by a favorite author and I knew it would be entertaining. The story is told from various views: detectives, leading man, leading woman, kid, etc. There were many facets to this story and eventually it falls into place. It seemed very realistic and something you’d probably hear on a true crime/murder podcast. It was intense but the detectives had a witty humor about them that provided the comic relief. Another thrilling story that will stick with me for a while. I received my copy from the publisher and am providing my review voluntarily.

I love AR Torre's books, but the pacing of A Fatal Affair just felt off. It's a short book, but I was surprised to find myself at 90% when nothing had really happened yet other than setup. I liked the Munchausen by Proxy theme, but wish that was explored more--both in Kerry's storyline and in the past flashbacks. I REALLY wanted to know more about the twins' childhood--there were some flashbacks to their childhood TV show, but not the ones I wanted!

The reveal didn't surprise me (and reminded me of the "rules for writing a murder mystery" from Everyone In My Family Has Killed Someone). The ending also felt very unfinished to me. I found myself thinking I still had to finish the book, only to remember it was over! Unfortunately, this isn't one I recommend. Torre's other books are incredible, though, so choose something else off her backlist!

Holy Smokes! What a great thriller this was! Kept me in the edge of my seat from beginning to end! And that twist?! Whew! I am horrible at writing reviews but I will say this is one of the best books I’ve read so far this year!

Thanks NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this ARC!

Hollywood Superstar couple Hugh Iverson and Nora Kemp, engaged to be married in a few months discover the body of Hugh's twin brother, Trent, along with an unidentified woman in the guesthouse. Why did Trent die, and who is this woman? Was it really a murder-suicide?

This book was broken up from each main characters POV and it really helped that it labeled that way.

Without giving it away, there is a child in the story with cancer, his mother has a mental illness, and this leads to a form of child abuse; however, I don't feel like the abuse was graphic. I 100% enjoyed this book and if life wouldn't have gotten in the way, I probably would have finished it in one day. It was quick, the chapters were short, and it just kept me wondering what happened. I recommend this book. This was the first book that I have read by this author even though I have one of hers on my TBR. I read 6 books in the last two months that I just couldn't get into, and this one was perfect.

Hugh and Trent Iverson were child stars. Hugh is now a huge star, engaged to fellow star, Nora Kemp, while Trent is always in hot water and is Hollywood's problem child.

When Trent and a mystery woman are found dead in Hugh's guest house, the first thought seems to be murder/suicide. However, as the investigation begins, the detectives find there is far more to this story beneath the surface.

I enjoyed this one. The investigation was interesting to follow. A few twists I didn't see coming, and I definitely will be looking into more by this author.

Many thanks to Netgalley, Thomas & Mercer and Thriller Book Lovers Promo for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I honestly didn't love this book. It was a bit too slow of a burn for me. There were many POVs and easy to follow along. I think there may have been a bit too many of them. I did however like the ending. I guessed the twist though!

Thrillers surrounding twins are always fun to read. This one with Hollywood superstars is no different. When one twin is found dead, the hunt is on to solve the murder.

With one of the detectives named Farah, I already knew I was going to enjoy this book! Highly addictive with short chapters, this is another great novel by this fantastic author.

A Fatal Affair by A. R. Torre

Dark, sinister, intense, tale filled with twists and turn ~ truly thought provoking and rather creepy.

What I liked:
* The detectives and police procedural aspects
* The setting – since I grew up in the area
* That I read “twin” and had an immediate inkling what would happen
* That my inkling proved true but there was a whole lot more than just that premonition
* The twisted childhood some of the characters lived through and finding out how what they experienced impacted them as adults
* That I didn’t really LIKE the twins or Nora – and was fine with that
* Finding out, eventually, how the twin died and why
* Learning why the woman died who was found with the twin, finding out what happened to her son, and thinking about what would happen to her family in the future
* Finishing the book

What I didn’t like:
* Who and what I was meant not to like
* Thinking about “love” and how it means many different things to those who use the word – some really warped things

NOTE: I have enjoyed other books by this author more but that probably has more to do with never really warming up to and liking the three main characters than due to the quality of the writing as the plot, pacing, setting, and writing were excellent.

Did I enjoy this book? Kind of
Would I read more by this author? Yes

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC – this is my honest review.

Another fun, entertaining read from Torre. I read and loved The Good Lie last year, so I was very excited to give her new book a try 📚

Read this if you love Hollywood drama, secrets galore, crime novels/police procedurals, and, oh yeah, TWINS 👀🎬🎭

While this one well crossed the line into the “suspend your disbelief” zone, we all know how fun that can be once in a while.

Know that it’s VERY out there with some of its twists, but the short chapters and good writing made this a quick, easy read.

Let me pose two questions that may predict whether or not you like this book:

▪️ Is it a dealbreaker for you if you can see what the major plot twist will be before you’ve even opened the book?

▪️ Can you still enjoy a book and have fun seeing how the story gets you there even if you’re confident of where it will go?

If you’re the first kind of reader, I suspect this won’t be quite as much fun for you. If, like me, you’re the second kind of reader, you may have fun just hopping on this train and seeing where it takes you along the way. If you’re lucky, you’re neither of those and can just roll with whatever happens!

Hugh and Trent Iverson are twins and Hollywood royalty. Hugh is the Oscar-winning star and fiance of beautiful actress Nora Kemp. Trent is the drug and booze-addled bad boy who's been in and out of rehab and scrapes with the law. When Trent and an unknown woman are found dead in a guesthouse on Hugh and Nora’s property, L. A. detectives Farah Anderson and Kevin Mathis are assigned to the case.

Add in a mystery about a “moms gone wrong” Facebook group, a missing child, an old religious children’s show called Story Farm, and a sketchy charity group called Protect the Children that fulfills Make-a-Wish requests for seriously ill children and their families, and you’ve got the ingredients for a pretty whackadoodle but intriguing story!

Did the plot have more holes than a shooting range target? Yes. Did I care? No. I really liked Farah and Kevin, and if nothing else, this played out like a fun episode of any popular TV police procedural/detective show. Some plot aspects are absurd, so just pop your popcorn and don’t take things too seriously. This is my fifth A.R. Torre book and she hasn’t disappointed me yet!
