Candice Sue Patterson's "The Keys to Gramercy Park" is a marvelous addition to the Doors to the Past series. She weaves two intricate stories that converge at the end.

A darker tale, the "past" timeline presents a thought-provoking plot featuring twins Edward and Franklin Davidson, identical in looks yet with completely different personalities. While not an upbeat story, it's incredibly unique and compelling. The "present" timeline is more optimistic in tone. Charming and rich Beau sweetly wins over Andrea, who's not his social "equal". Her banter with her friend Caylee is delightful, as is her relationship with betta Sammy Davis, Jr. and his tank mates. I keep bettas and yes, we name them.

Characters are well-drawn. Cora's strong faith is a wonderful thing. Edward, for better or worse, is a fascinating person. Rich in historical detail, "The Keys to Gramercy Park" offers an illuminating glimpse into New York City, and in particular, Gramercy Park.

Patterson's prose is lovely and evocative. I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

Thanks to NetGalley and Barbour Publishing for an ARC of this absorbing read.

An enjoyable novel that jumped from past to present very well. A huge reminder of ways God can protect us and use us in every situation, but gives us a choice to stand with integrity.

I really enjoyed THE KEYS TO GRAMERCY PARK. Candice Sue Patterson weaves the timelines and point-of-view characters together seamlessly into a thoroughly entertaining narrative sure to please fans of clean/inspirational historical fiction. Both the men and women characters are fully fleshed out on the page, lending the reader the sense of knowing them. The writing at times is a bit overdone and too flowery for my tastes, but certainly in keeping with the genre and time period. I particularly appreciated how the plot is constructed and comes together, especially with the mystery element. I will look forward to more from this author.

The Keys to Gramercy Park by Candice Sue Patterson gave me thrills of a good novel. A good novel should capture my imagination and allow it to soar with the characters and the setting on the page. The Keys to Gramercy Park dived right into a historical mystery, which I love. I loved the idea of some element in the past tying to the present day. I love watching the heroine of the present try to solve the mystery while watching the story take place in the past. Patterson did a wonderful job at bringing Post Civil-War New York and the Gramercy Park to life. I never knew this place actually existed. After reading this story, I want to stand outside the gates and peer inside. I loved the Gilded Age Mansion and stories. Patterson’s story took me for a treasure hunt and a little bit of romance on the side. The ending has a twist with the historical element that surprised me but in a good way. The plot moved at a rapid pace, and I stayed up way too late and finished this novel in less than a day. Now I need to purchase it to put it on my bookshelf. A wonderful novel. If readers are fans of treasure hunts filled with history, romance, and a little mystery, I highly recommend readers purchasing this novel. This is one of my first 5 star reviews for the year.

I received a complimentary copy of The Keys to Gramercy Park by Candice Sue Patterson from Barbour Publishing, but the opinions stated are all my own.
