An intense, sitting on the edge of your seat thriller! It was difficult to pull myself away from this one.

I did absolutely love the heart of the story. The meaning and purpose that these kinds of experiences bring to the surface. This is a story about not wasting time not being there for those you love. This is a story about treasuring every moment because you don't know when it will be your last. You will absolutely love some of these characters and be gripping the pages until you turn the very last.

This a book is absolutely fantastic.
I read this novel is one sitting. I simply could not put it down. I was there in the plane with the passengers and crew, while also being with those on the surface trying to rescue them. I heard every word, every sound, every gasp and every cry. I felt all of the emotions that ranged throughout the cabin below and offices above. I cheered when they cheered and my heart raced when tragedy struck in any form.
The writing is phenomenal. It would not have invoked any stronger emotions if I was watching the film instead (Oh, it will be made into a film, I have no doubt). I came away having known each character intimately, as if I was on that plane. Everything about this book was superior…the plot, the suspense, the interweaving of hope and despair, the beginning, middle and end. All of it. It is rare when a book affects the reader like this one just did me, but when it does, it will remain in the reader’s mind forever. Thank you, TJ, for the gift.
I received an ARC from Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster through NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion or rating of this book. I am voluntarily submitting this review and am under no obligation to do so.

What a fantastic premise full of suspense and tension that will have you eagerly awaiting the next page. I was thrilled to get access to this book through netgalley. I loved the author's first book, Falling, and this one felt like it had the same level of gripping plot and captivating characters that kept the plot grounded and the reader emotionally attached. It is always exciting when an author manages to replicate the same excitement with a new fresh story.

Absolutely tore through this book. I loved Falling, but truly devoured Drowning in one sitting. I was a warbling mess by the end. An adventure of a book, highly highly recommend.

4.0
I would like to Thank #NetGalley and Avid Reader Press/Simon & Schuster for the eARC of Drowning by T. J. Newman. This story was truly intense and a great example of a Survival tale. I haven't read Falling yet, but I had no problems reading this book as a stand-alone. It captured my interest from the start and I felt like I had to race through the book before I ran out of air! I applaud the author for writing what she knows. Some of the rescue seemed impossible to perform, but I trusted in the writer and her knowledge. Survival was paramount in this story and the relationships that developed inside the plane and the main family relationship that was already established outside the plane encouraged me to root for the survivors. I am giving this intense story a 4 only because the happy ending was maybe not as truthful as what I think truly occured during the rescue.

This was a great follow up to the Authors debut. She really knows how to write a fast passed summer blockbuster. The chapters were short and made the book fly by. At times, I felt like too much went wrong. So I had to suspend my disbelief a bit. I really liked the character development of Chris and Will and their relationship. I will definitely keep up with this Author.

Wow! I listened to the audiobook and it was amazing! This book had me on the edge of my seat. Total heart-pounding moments. I literally could not turn it off!

What a propulsive, fantastic summer read! While it won’t keep me from getting on a plane for my next vacation, it certainly kept me on the edge of my seat, sitting by the pool!
Bill Hoffman is given an impossible choice: crash the plane he’s currently piloting, or sign a death warrant for his family.
I loved the character development, loved how the relationships were interwoven, and I specially loved the pacing of this book. It is everything I want in a summer thriller! Thanks to Nathalie for an advanced waiter, coffee, and exchange for an honest review.

I literally kept alternating between gasping and holding my breath from beginning to end!
Thank you to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for the ebook ARC. All opinions are my own.
When flight 1421 takes off from Hawaii to San Francisco, no one has any cause for concern flying out. 10 minutes into the flight, though, the entire system fails and, before they know it, flight 1421 makes a last "ditch" effort into the ocean in an effort to keep as many passengers alive as possible. As the plane breaks apart and fires begin to erupt, passengers are forced to make a life changing choice in order to survive. When several passengers who choose to stay in the plane end up sinking to a shelf 200 ft down in the ocean, it becomes an all hands on deck mission for the military and a civilian contract firm to rescue the passengers stuck in the plane. Included on the passenger list is the husband and daughter of the civilian contractor so the stakes become even higher to ensure that everyone comes out alive.
This was one of the most exciting books I've read in a long time! The technical research that went into this book really showed that Newman wanted to make the reader understand the gravity of the situation as much as possible. I also loved all of the different characters and their stories. Ultimately, this was a story of teamwork and never giving up hope and was absolutely thrilling.

🦋 Will and Shanon are on flight 1421. Their flight is about to crash due to an explosion in the engine.
🦋 The flight can't be taken back to Honolulu or land nearby as there is ocean all around and the plane will not be able to fly anymore.
🦋 The plane crashes into the Pacific Ocean and drowns. The fire spreads and many passengers die.
🦋 Will advises the rest of the passengers to stay inside if they wanna be alive.
🦋 Chris is Will's soon-to-be ex-wife and Shanon's mother. She works together with the rescue team to save her kid and the other 12 passengers trapped in the flight.
With not much time and very less air will Chris be able to save her kid? Will the passengers survive?
This book has so much emotion. A wonderfully crafted story. Keeps you on the edge the entire while thinking about what's next. Whether this passenger will survive or not? The past of Chris and Will is so painful and heartbreaking. Every character was written with precision. Overall a great read. One of the 5-star reads of the year.

OMG this was just as good as the other book, infact this reminded me of a movie that I grew up watching . Can't wait to read more of this author's work.

I first read Falling by T.J. Newman and was captivated from the first chapter so when I saw Drowning, I scooped it right up! Just like her first novel, this is a non-stop page turning thriller! I love how I was able to get to know the characters on an intimate level while also receiving some super smarter than me technical information. I’m positive the research for this book was intense!

I had such a fun time reading 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 when it was released, so I was extremely excited and anticipating this release. I had such a blast reading this thrilling read, I did a combo of the audio and ebook.
TJ Newman always leaves me in suspense with her stories. This one follows a group of characters trapped inside an airplane underwater. I was gasping the whole time! My fear of going on a plane went up after reading this… but this was such a captivating read.
The plot itself is a bit predictable at times, but I still found myself enjoying this book. The eerie setting gave me shivers, there were times when it was emotional - primarily with Will and his daughter.
This was a fast-paced book. Without a doubt, you can 100% finish this in one sitting. It’s so engaging and you’ll never want to put the book down. This book does primarily focus on survival and oh man, there was so much tension and action throughout it.
Newman definitely knows how to write suspenseful thrillers, I would honestly these are perfect for the summer - just not on a plane 😉 but the action-packed story will have you intrigued from early on. Just like 𝗙𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗗𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a must-read!
Thank you so much NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the review eARC and Libro.fm for the complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review!

What’s one of your FAVE reads so far this year? 💘
Here’s my mid year favourites (which I can’t stop recommending!) ✨
✈️ DROWNING// TJ Newman - seriously, if you need a bingeworthy read, this one has you covered. I read it in a day!

I know this book has gotten rave reviews, so I am definitely the outlier among the bunch! I thought the premise of this book was as intriguing as it was terrifying - a portion of a plane, with crew and passengers still onboard, sinking to the bottom of the ocean. The action starts from page one, which always makes for a breathless read. It had the potential to be a book that keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time - unfortunately for me, the heavy emphasis into the physics-aspect of the rescue mission slowed it down considerably.
It's crazy to think that this book came out just a few short weeks before the submersible tragedy swept the international community. I feel like I learned so much about underwater physics during that week, and I seriously considered a reread of this book because I felt that with some new (albeit probably still very basic) knowledge under my belt, I would have enjoyed the book so much more. I'm sure this stems to me being a very visual person, and because I couldn't picture what was happening, or what they were trying to avoid happen, I struggled to connect with the story.
With all that said, if you are looking for a unique thriller with a countdown-clock scenario, the reviews highly suggest you give this a try!

DROWNING was a quick and easy read, fast-paced and entertaining. The characters were a bit difficult to distinguish from each other at times, and some of the twists felt a little contrived. I enjoyed it on the whole and would try another one from this author.

After reading Falling, I just knew I was going to love Drowning! TJ Newman writes a great thriller and this one had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.
A plane down into the ocean, a mom on the land. I actually cried at the end of this book. If they make a movie, I will be the first one there!
Great character development and a wild ride.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.

Drowning is the latest airplane crash thriller offering from T.J. Newman, author of Falling.
Apparently T.J. is determined that we should all have heart palpitations while flying.
In Drowning, the plane ends up trapped underwater as the rescuers race to find it. Sounds a bit like recent current events!
Although I started out completely into the story, it lost me about halfway through. There were just too many near death experiences within a near death experience that the book seemed to be trying too hard.

This was a fun surprise! Drowning is a suspense thriller with a race-against-the-clock rescue premise, which is not a genre I often gravitate to. I had a great time with this. The author is a former flight attendant, and I could definitely see her experience reflected in her writing, but the details were well integrated into the overall story rather than overwhelming the reader with details. The story was well paced, and the character arcs successfully pulled at my emotions in a way that kept me invested, but did not leave me devastated. I know this author's first novel has been picked up for a screen adaptation, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for that.
