Amazing amazing amazing. From the first page I was hooked. TJ Newman is an auto read for me! This book was exhilarating and kept you on the edge of your seat.

Flight 1421 crashes into the Ocean six minutes after takeoff from Hawaii. The evacuation is chaotic and turns deadly. To survive, passengers close the plane while it sinks to the ocean floor. Now they are trapped with limited air, water levels rising, panic setting in, and no plan for how to get out.
The suspense in this book is so good. This book was hard to read at times after recently traveling on a plane with my kids. It is very intense, but so well written if you're looking for suspense.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avid Reader Press for the ARC of Drowning.

All I can say is Wow Wow Wow!!! After reading this author’s book Falling, I was excited to get my hands on the latest story. And man, Drowning did not disappoint!!! A plane goes down after many issues, and the passengers are now sinking under water in the ocean. Trying to survive has become the name of the game, and they must all work together in order to get out. This book was so suspenseful, and I finished it in just a few hours because it was so good.

I had read the previous work from the author and even though I found it just ok, I was looking forward to this one. No surprises, this taps into one of the primal fears for most flyers. I am glad I didn't pick this up while on an airplane.
The book is written keeping a certain readership in mind (short sentences, lots of cliffhangers, mile a minute action) and it delivers on that aspect.

This was such a clincher!! Once again Newman got me from the very start. There were tears there was fear and all of it was written so beautifully and realistically. Was there some super technical information that I had no idea what it meant? Yes. But I don’t think it took away, if anything it added to the story. You meet wonderful characters and sure there’s going to be debate on the end but that’s the beauty of it all. No spoilers in this one just dive in and enjoy the horrific but amazingly told ride.

Omg another I’m never getting on a plane again story ! As addictive as the first. So fast paced !!! Loved it !

This was a wild ride! I loved the character development and how they intertwined throughout the story. It truly kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

WOW! TJ Newman has done it again! This book catches you immediately & keeps you hooked throughout. TJ Newman is the literal QUEEN of cliffhangers & keeping you on the edge of your seat. I’m torn between which one I like better, her debut Falling, or this one! Please do NOT pick up this book unless you have a couple hours to devote to it, as you won’t be able to put it down. Of course, I read it while on a flight.
Also - thank you for painting a clearer picture for the general public of how important our job as in-flight crew is. Safety is the pinnacle of our job & your stories illustrate the “why” behind our career. From one FA to another, thank you!
Looking forward to more works by this author. What a thrilling treat this novel was.

I enjoyed the book and it was clear that the author had technical expertise. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys suspenseful stories and who don't have a fear of flying. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange of my opinion.

Well what can I say except this book tapped into every one of my most primal fears!
Heart pounding from the very outset (I loved that we're dropped right in at the start of the action instead of a slow introduction) I was reading compulsively, desperate to know what was going to happen.
Our characters are varied and distinct and I enjoyed the added layer of family drama between Will, Chris and Shannon. The pacing was good and I read this book in less than 24 hours, with a very late night after being unable to put it down!
I'll definitely be checking out any future work by this author.

Amazing; so tense and gripping I felt suffocated. Loved it so much, would highly recommend to everyone.

TJ Newman is the master of the fast paced, nightmare scenario novel. She really uses the cliff-hanger method so well that you can't help but turn the page. Once I started this book I had to finish it. It has definitely made me think twice about going on an aeroplane again.

I could not put this book down. It was nail bitting, heart pounding, and intense. There were also some moments where my heart was ripped from my chest and I cried. There were some characters you lived and some you just want to punch in the face, but Will and Kit are the kind of people you want around in emergency situations. Aside from the technical stuff going over my head I loved every moment of this book.

This book was not as compelling as Falling. Many mawkish sentences interspersed with the action and a helping of “the a-hole deserved to die” marred the whole proceedings for me.

A fast-paced, gripping novel that reads like an action movie. It has a lot of technical details that I found difficult to read but I am sure that they will form the basis for a great movie.

Thank you, NetGalley, for an e-ARC of Drowning by T.J. Newman.
Drowning is the story of surviving a plane crash only to have to survive longer as it plunges beneath the ocean. A suspenseful, action story that keeps the reader turning pages. Throughout this book, I could imagine it as a movie. Some circumstances are unrealistic, and the author needs to know that important characters can die, but overall an exciting read.

Thank you to Netgalley & Avid Reader Press / Simon & Schuster for this amazing read! This came out 05.29.23!
This book was SO good!! I liked it more than Falling I think, but for different reasons. Chris, Will, and Shannon had me in a CHOKEHOLD needing to know what was going on 24/7!!
I found this one to be a bit more technical which was nice but I also felt like there was a point where it was almost *too* technical for me, personally. Regardless, I still thought it was really unique to add to the plot because I’ve never seen that before. It had a good pace and unique characters, but I only REALLY cared about Chris, Will, & Shannon… and maybe Kip. The other characters fell a little flat for me.
Newman had me on the edge of my seat with that ending though!! It was really unexpected and I suggest having tissues on hand when finishing this nail biting read!

Ohmygosh! I absolutely loved this book!!! It was so suspenseful!! I immediately finished this book and purchased her other book! It was so so good! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thriller or tearjerker? Either way, both aspects were done really well!
It's funny how the same author can deliver such drastically different books. I detested Falling and found it terribly problematic, but this one I LOVED.
Drowning jumps right into it and never lets up. There wasn't a slow moment, just lots of tense and emotional ones that had me crying. What a ride!
I loved getting to know all the different characters. They were so realistic and well-developed that you truly care about them. I was rooting so hard for Chris and her family. There was a perfect balance of character backstory and fast-paced action, which the author weaved together seamlessly.
The technical explanations weren't the most exciting and I probably didn't grasp everything clearly, but in no way did it affect my enjoyment of the novel. There's so much heart and human emotion and moving scenes that struck a chord.
No doubt this is a book that will keep you on the edge of the seat the whole time and take your breath away as you fly through it. Pun unintended.
