A mysterious invitation. A family reunited with a convicted killer. Family secrets, resentments and a desire for vengeance all culminate as a storm rages outside.

Ten years ago, Meghan, the oldest daughter of the Crisholm family, was murdered. Her boyfriend went away for the murder after the damning testimony of Meghan's youngest sister.
When each family members receives an invitation to a secluded house, they reunite to try and unravel the mystery of Meghan's death. Little do they know that they'll also be reunited with their daughter's killer.
But is Cal the true killer or was Meghan's death closer to home? Before the night is over, all the secrets of that night will be revealed. And not all the members of the family may make it out alive.

This is slow burn that really builds up the tension. Emotions are high and palpable. I enjoyed reading the various perspectives of the characters. They each had a different perception of the murder and processed their grief in different ways. There were a lot of clues along the way and the final reveal was satisfying.

If you're a fan of family saga mysteries, give this one a read.

Thank you to @netgalley and @RandomHouse for this ARC. Meghan was killed 10 years ago and her boyfriend Cal was convicted and put behind bars. Each family member receives a red envelope requesting their presence at a house in Oregon. Now that Cal is out of prison, they hope to finally get answers for Meghan's death. But who is behind the invites? When all the invitees arrive, the suspense builds. Wow! This one kept me on my toes! #OneNight #GeorgiaCross #RandomHouseBallatine #Aug2023

I didn't like this one nearly as much as Nanny Needed - it felt like it dragged on forever and not a lot happened. I only finished it because I wanted to know who the murderer was.

One Night tells the story of a broken family struggling to come together in the years following their oldest daughter’s murder and the lengths they’ll each go for closure.

I really enjoyed the overall premise of this book. A mystery person bringing a shattered family together to reveal what really happened to their daughter.

With the setting being a house on a cliff, overlooking the ocean and isolated during a major storm, it truly sets the tone. The suspense was palpable throughout!

There were lots of secrets revealed in this one and some big twists toward the end that I really didn’t expect!

Overall, this was a great, quick read that will keep you guessing until the very end!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bantam for the opportunity to read this ARC!

This was my first novel by Cross, and I will without a doubt read more. This intense psychological thriller is about a family that is summoned to a home in Oregon. They each receive handwritten red invitations to a night they won’t ever forget.

Ten years ago Maureen and Paul’s daughter Megan was killed. Her boyfriend Cal was put away in prison. He is now out. He has always claimed his innocence and her family was torn with his verdict.

Their other daughters Alice, Sam and Paul and his new wife have been given invitations to come to a home overlooking the Pacific in Oregon to find out what really happened to Megan. Their “Uncle Geoff has also been invited to this chilling event.

The scenery, the dangerous storm, and the chilling details had me wrapped up and waiting to find out what really happened to Megan. The events that happened during this intense night and had me scared for their family.

Count me in for more of her novels!

A must read for any thriller fans. Family secrets that unravel in one night. All family members are invited to a rented house, but no one knows who sent the invite.
Such a great read with an ending that will shock you!

Who really killed Meghan? An invitation sparks a chaotic evening filled with distrust, secrets, and mayhem ten years after the death of a beloved family member. One Night is a suspenseful thriller that keeps you up all night trying to find the answer.

The Chisholm family receives a red invitation to meet at a breathtaking home on the Oregon coast. They believe it came from the just-released killer—Meg’s former boyfriend, Cal. Cal is found to be unconscious and near death as Uncle Geoff discovers him on the side of the road. Tumultuous storms and fears that Cal will die before he can tell his story drive the family in opposite directions. But the truth unravels after a sequence of unpredictable events and significant revelations. Each family member has a story to tell and could be guilty.

The characters’ intentions and viewpoints drive the story and keep the reader in suspense until the last page. I loved how the author wove the story around one night but had many flashbacks and insights. The novel’s arc carried the story’s events and would make an exciting series or movie.

Each member of a family receives an anonymous letter inviting them to a house. They must tell no one. The letter says that details will be revealed about their daughter Meg who was murdered 10 years ago.
They assume it is from the person who they believe was the murderer, who has been released from.prison.
This story is quite the mystery.
For me, it was rather drawn out, but it did have a good ending.

It’s a gripping and twisted thriller. Cal was convicted of Meghan’s Murder ten years ago. Her family was grieving her death and her death has turned a happy family into something else. Suddenly one day they receive an anonymous invitation to cliffside home on Oregon coast.

In the span of ten years, Cal kept writing letters to her family. Perhaps the truth is more twisted than it seems to be. Meghan’s Murder has broken some relations too. But after 10 years, Maureen and her family finds Cal soaked in blood and unconscious in his car, either they can take the revenge or can make him spill the beans. Will they seek revenge?

The author has done a brilliant job. The ending was so unpredictable and the book is unputdownable. The revelation at the end shocked me. Tangled in the web of secrets, vengeance and lies, will Maureen figure out mystery of her daughter’s murder or the secret will bring the family’s reputation at stake?

Thank you Netgalley, Author and Publisher

This book was okay. I appreciate the concept but the way the story was told just didn’t hold my interest, and I guessed who had done it pretty early on. There were a few good twists but overall I didn’t really like it.

Book review of One Night by Georgina Cross

Thank you to @randomhouse and @netgalley for allowing me to read and review this early release thriller!

This is the first read of Georgina Cross for me, but it won't be my last.
This thriller was a gripping mystery that I didn't see coming. I had a suspicion or two, but I was so wrong !
Meghan was murdered by her boyfriend Cal, ten years ago. Cal was convicted of killing her and has just been released from prison. An anonymous letter arrives for Meghan's family members asking each member to come to a house at the beach ⛱️. The letter promises to reveal the truth about the night Meghan died.
Her mother, two sisters, her father, stepmother, and their uncle all arrive as a huge storm rages. The house is strange! It seems someone has set them up to have a dinner party. As their uncle arrives, he is carrying an injured Cal. As some of the family try to help save him, others contemplate killing him. It's what he deserves. The power goes out, the down trees have cut off help and everyone becomes suspicious of each other.

Ending is a doozie and I was 😲 shocked I didn't see it!

Great book! Recommend you grab it when it comes out August 1, 2023. You won't be disappointed.

Thank you to Net Galley, the author, and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book, in return for my
honest review.
Georgina cross has done it again. I must say that I enjoyed One Night more than Nanny Needed and I thought that would be hard to say! Meghan was murdered 10 years ago and her ex-boyfriend who was convicted of the murder is being released from prison, the same time that the family has received invitations to a cabin for one night to hear the real story surrounding Meghan's death. As the night unfolds, this
family's life will never be the same. This story is full of tons of twists and turns. The multiple POV's was a bit confusing in the beginning. and at times It was hard to imagine certain aspects of the book being realistic but once I got past that I did enjoy the story. The author does a great job at making you question who you can trust. The suspense is felt all throughout the book with an unpredictable ending. Overall, I enjoyed the book and rated it 4 stars.

This thriller has it all. Family secrets, betrayal, and revenge and everyone under a cloud of suspicion. Who, What, When and Why? The ending both delighted and terrified me.

Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

This was pretty good! I enjoyed it. The concept was good and even if this wasn't the best book I've ever read, I did at least enjoy my time reading it. Don't let my Luke warm review stop you if you're interested in it! I'd recommend you to give it a shot.

What a splendid thriller. The ending was quite a surprise. I love when I think I know the ending and then I’m proven wrong in a spectacular way. The writing is phenomenal. I couldn’t read it fast enough. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged the entire time. I was truly shocked by the ending. Cross through me for a loop with this one and I highly recommend it. I did, however, think of the movie Clue at sometimes throughout the story (if you've seen Clue you may know what I mean, haha).

Ten years have passed since Meghan was murdered. Her boyfriend, Cal, was convicted and has been in prison for the past decade. So why have all her family members received an invitation to a vacation house where they will be told what really happened to her? Is this Cal proclaiming his innocence once again? But why all the hoopla rather than just phoning them or asking to meet? Her family is more than suspicious about the situation, but they also can’t help themselves – they all come to the house. Because what if there’s a chance that Cal wasn’t guilty? That would mean that her true murderer is still out there, free all this time, enjoying the life Meghan never had the chance to live.

The story takes place over the course of one night where of course there is a terrible storm that leaves the family isolated and with no means of communication. It could be a taut suspenseful story, but the lack of likable characters detracts from that. Meghan’s mother is too overly hostile towards Meghan’s stepmother who is not the least bit hostile, so neither of them is relatable. The mother is also completely dead set against anyone but Cal possibly being guilty and for no reason other than she didn’t think he was good enough for her. That doesn’t mean he would kill her! And she was also completely blind to her favoritism for Meghan, which is obvious in the flashbacks sprinkled throughout the story. And why did she favor her, anyway? Meghan was a terrible person, but because she was outgoing and craved attention, she’s supposedly admired and adored? No, I don’t think so.

I like the concept of the story, but there was nothing surprising or inventive about it. I knew early on who was responsible for gathering the family together, but I’m glad I stuck with it because the end was worth it. I like the author’s writing; I think it was just the few characters irritating me that kept me from loving the story. It’s a good read for a stormy night when you might find yourself isolated, as well!
