First off, thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing for providing me this eARC and I am voluntarily leaving my review!

Alrighty, so for “One Night” by Georgina Cross, I am giving 5 stars. I really flew through this one and enjoyed this book filled with family drama, suspense, and a good ‘ol murder mystery. The family has received anonymous letters in the mail telling to meet at this one location so they can discover what really happened to Meghan all those years ago when she was killed. Her alleged killer who spent years in prison has been released and is found unconscious near where the family is staying at. Half of the family wants him dead and the other half wants to hear what he supposedly knows. If he wakes up, he may just reveal that someone in the house knows more than they are letting on and if that’s the case, who is the real killer?! Like I said, I really enjoyed this storyline and think everything flowed together really nicely. I definitely would recommend checking this out when it’s released in August!

Meghan was murdered 10 years ago. Now her family have received anonymous letters inviting them to meet for one night at a cliffside home along the Oregon coast. The letter promises that in one night they will all find out the truth of what happened that night. Her suspected killer, ex boyfriend Cal was also invited to the house. Except Cal is unconscious from a car accident that happened on his way there. The story follows the family of Meghan with everyone's secrets at risk of being found out.

I loved the setting in this book. I was really drawn into the story and what was happening. The story will make you question who you can trust even among your own family. It also makes you question how far you would go to protect the ones you love. I really enjoyed reading this and did not predict the ending!

Thanks to Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Bantam for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was intrigued by the plot of this book and immediately wanted to know what was going to happen. The book was full of twists some I saw coming and others I didn't. Overall the book was an enjoyable read but I'm only giving it 3 stars because there was just something about it that didn't hold my attention like I wanted it to and at some points I felt more like I was reading it to just get to the end rather than truly enjoying it. However, I have been struggling to find a book to hold my attention for awhile and this may just be me and nothing to do with this book.

One Night
A Novel
by Georgina Cross
Sadly the book just seemed too far-fetched to me. NO SPOILERS. But, I just wondered "Why, why WHY" would a family even do this? Just had it figured out, but it was an ok book.

One Night is a thriller that will keep you wondering who really killed Meghan. Megan died ten years ago and now her entire family and the man who spent 10 years in jail for her murder has been invited to their old family's summer house to get answers. The novel switches points of view so you are constantly guessing as to who is guilty or who knows more than they are saying. The end of each chapter is a cliff hanger so the reader wants to keep reading to find out what is going to happen. I must admit that I definitely did not foresee the ending of this book. Overall I would recommend this book for people who enjoy a good thriller and something a little darker.

Thank you to Ballantine Bantam Dell | Random House Group and NetGalley for this advanced reader's copy.

One Night is a fun, quick summer thriller. Right off the bat we are drawn in by the death of the oldest sister of 3 girls. 10 years later, when the boyfriend who has been in prison for the murder is set to be released, the remaining sisters and their parents receive mysterious red envelopes in the mail. And from this invitation our story quickly unfolds.

I do feel that the story was a bit over the top dramatic at times and a couple of plots weren’t fully fleshed out but overall it was a very quick and readable novel!

I received an arc copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. This book was absolutely amazing. The entire book took place in less than a 24 hour timeframe. Cal is just released from prison serving a ten year sentence for the murder of his teenage girlfriend, Meghan Chisholm. Members of the Chisholm family all received the same invitation to meet at a beach house. While there, strange things are going on and with a severe storm raging outside, confessions are made. So many twists until the very end. The story is told in parts by different family members.. Really good read.

Thank you to the author and publisher for the chance to read this! What does one do with grief? How do they cope after a tragic loss? What would you do if you lost someone and didn't know who did it? This is where we find Meghan's family and it takes them on a journey that will either lead them to the answers they are seeking....or is it all a ploy? I really enjoyed reading this, but at time it could be a little theatrical. If that makes sense. Anywho, it was a good read and I look forward to the release so that I can buy a copy for my sister!

10 years ago, this family seem to have it all. Maureen and Paul had three wonderful daughters, Meghan, Samantha, and Alice. Could anyone have predicted that Meghan wouldn’t be here today? What’s left of the family is gathered at Haystack Rock. They don’t know who invited them, but they have been promised answers to what happened on that horrible night.
What would you do if your daughter was murdered? This family has never been the same since Meghan died. Her alleged killer has been released from prison, but his punishment isn’t nearly enough for Meghan’s grieving mother. Once they are all together an intense storm, leaves them trapped. Will one of them decide to commit murder and get justice? Or will they find out that the truth is more complicated than they ever imagined.
A very atmospheric story that takes place in one night. It seems that each family member packed a change of clothes and a whole lot of secrets. Before the night ends, we will discover the truth. I did not see the end coming! I had my suspicions, but really thought that I was wrong. The why shocked me even more than the who. Very fast paced with some brutal truth exposed.

Ten years after the murder of beloved daughter and sister, Meghan, the still-grieving family receives anonymous letters inviting them to a cliffside home in Oregon to learn what happened the night Meghan died. On the night the family gathers at the house, Meghan’s high school boyfriend, Cal, who was convicted of her murder is found near the house unconscious in his car after an accident. As a raging storm leaves the family isolated with Meghan’s supposed killer, the family faces the difficult decision of if they should help Cal or allow him to die for what he did to Meghan. While searching for answers about Meghan’s death, the family discovers that each of them have secrets that have been hidden for the last decade. With hidden motives and jealousies, is the killer one of them?

This book was a bit of a miss for me. I didn’t find there to be as much tension as I expected based on the book’s synopsis. Around 70% through, it started to grab my attention a little more but there were still parts in the last few chapters where I got bored. I unfortunately wasn’t surprised by the twists and saw them coming pretty far in advance. I feel like there are plenty of hints that lead you in the right direction, which is completely fine, just not much of a mystery to solve. I wish the book and author all the best of luck!

I love Georgina Cross (Nanny Needed especially!) and was excited to read One Night. I need to start by saying dinner parties/"who done it" plots are something I usually stay away from as they feel overdone. While One Night has some similarities to that, it is done in a completely refreshing way. I love the complex family drama, the way the author writes, and the absolutely perfect ending. This book deserves so much success!

One Night
By: Georgina Cross

4 stars

I want to start off by thanking Netgalley and the author for this book in return for my honest review. After reading a few books by her, I have learned that Georgina Cross is a master at keeping you on the edge of your seat. In this story, you get mystery and murder surrounded by betrayel and secrets. Meghan was murdered. Cal, the boyfriend, went away for it. But he still proclaims his innocence.
Now, when mysterious envelopes arrive to the family years later, promising answers, the Chisolm family must face the truth behind what really happened to Meghan. The truth will shock you.

This was an awesome story. It was fast-paced and kept me enthralled. It was written very well. It was one that kept me guessing. With each turn of the page, new theories would arise, but the shocking twist was just WOW. I never saw it coming.

Overall, this is a perfect read for a mystery. It gives you all the elements of a great edge of your seat read.

This book didn’t do it for me. I couldn’t connect with any of the characters and I found the plot to be unbelievable. I see where she was going but I just don’t think she quite got there.

Who killed Meghan? Her boyfriend went to prison, but did he really do it. The family wants answers and will risk anything to get them. They are invited to a seaside home with the promise of answers. But who invited them and are they safe? This book has so many twists and turns that it will keep you guessing until the end.

One Night started out kind of slow for me but picked up about half way through. An invitation shows up promising answers to what really happened to Meg the night she died. It's the typical whodunit style writing that has you guessing until the very end. The end has a shocking punch that you definitely don't see coming!

A twisty murder mystery to keep you turning pages all night. A family broken by the death of their oldest daughter, but who killed her, the ex-boyfriend sent to prison for her murder or someone much closer to home. They are all invited to a weekend getaway where the true murderer will be revealed. But nothing is what it seems. Great read for thriller and mystery readers.

What really happened to Meg? In the world of the psychological thriller, it’s never the boyfriend (if he went to jail for it). So what’s going on with this crazy family? A dark room whodunnit with fresh twists. 4.5 rounded up
